Her Story Begins

CHAPTER 1

During the summer of 1998, a woman was rushed into the hospital, her worried husband right by her side. all that could be heard was screaming and crying. Jane knew this would happen sooner or later. She and Oscar had been trying for months, hoping for a good outcome. They both were so joyful when they saw the test for the first time. Hell, they couldn't even look away when they first saw it. Jane, being 19 and never been pregnant before, never expected it to be quite like this.

The pain was insufferable. Finally, though, Jane was successful. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She had pale skin, black hair, and light blue eyes. She looked exactly like her father. Oscar couldn't even believe his eyes. All he could do was look at this beautiful baby girl. His beautiful baby girl.

"Hey Jane, I'm going to go call Alexis. She's going to freak out when she hears that her little niece is here!" Oscar quickly dialed his sister's number into the phone. It rang, and rang, and rang. No one answered though. "Hm... That's odd." He looked at the phone, concern clouding his face. "What's wrong love?" Jane looked at her husband, while waiting for the hospital staff to finish washing up the baby. "Alexis didn't pick up. She always picks up." "Oscar, honey, she's 13. She's probably out with her friends or something." Jane said, hoping to calm her husband's nerves.

Oscar called his mother, still overly worried about his little sister.

OSCAR: Hey mom, how are you doing?

MOM: Oh, I'm fine dear. Oh! is the baby here yet?!

OSCAR: Yes, she is! God, Jane and I couldn't be happier!

MOM: I know! You two have been talking about it for months now!

OSCAR: Yeah, I'm so so happy. Uhm... is Alexis okay? She didn't pick up the phone when I called her.

MOM: Well... I hope she'll be ok

OSCAR: Wait, what do you mean?

MOM: Last night she was checked into a mental hospital. She wasn't doing to well and I began to worry.

OSCAR: What!? What do you mean? What happened?

MOM: She wasn't herself. She was constantly talking to herself. At first, I just ignored it, but then she began to yell. It was as if she was talking to someone. Except, there was no one else here. Nobody was on the phone with her either. She became very angry and paranoid, as well.

OSCAR: Oh my god... is she going to be ok?

MOM: Yes, I believe she will. She just needs to spend some time on her own. They'll be putting her on a medication.

OSCAR: Well, when she gets home, please tell her to call me. I need to make sure she's ok.

MOM: Don't worry, I will. Oh, darling? When will I be able to come see the baby?

OSCAR: You could come by sometime tomorrow.

MOM: Of course! I'll be there! Does she have a name yet?

OSCAR: Her name is Jade. Beautiful little Jade.

MOM: How precious. I should probably leave you three alone. I bet Jane would like some rest. I love you darling!

OSCAR: I love you too, bye mom.

He turned around to see the nurse, finally, bringing Jade back into the room. She looked so beautiful. His little princess was wrapped up tight, in a pink blanket. The nurse handed the baby to Jane. "Hey sweetheart, mommy's got you. You look so much like your father, yes you do!" Jane looked at her baby and then over to Oscar. She couldn't hold back the tear that began to roll down her cheek. Oscar quickly wiped the tear away with the pad of his thumb. Jane lifted her head up to kiss her husband on the cheek. "I love you Oscar." Another tear slipped down her cheek. "I love you too, dear."
