If it was him...

45 minutes later, Kuina left her room with the motive set in her mind.

I'll have to retrieve the keys first. When I think about keys, only one person comes to my mind.

She entered the office. "Is ma'am Orks not here?"

"No. Do you need her for something? I can relay your message to her."

"Oh. I umm. I needed the keys to the doctor's cabin for investigation."

"If you're in need of keys you can just ask Sir Boseman. He's usually the one who handles and organizes the keys."

"Ludic Boseman?"

I need to look for him now. "Do you know where he is?"

"I don't. But you can check the cctv footage if its urgent."

"Thanks a bunch, Kayley!"

Kuina took the blue belt girl Kayley's advice and went to check the footage in search of Ludic.

Absurdly, she found him going in and out different rooms that fell on their way to the engine room.

"Is he looking for the calamity in every room?" Well. In any case, now that i found him, i should hurry.

She quickly rushed and found Ludic closing the door to one of the rooms.

"Do you need anything, Lemberg?"

"What were you doing in that room?" She asked with a suspicious glance.

"Searching for any clue. It appears the beast is hiding well in this ship."

Beast? Not calamity anymore? "Can i get the keys to the doctor's cabin?"

Ludic glared piercingly into her round eyes for some moments. "Did Fein ask for it?"

"No." She firmly replied. "I wanted to investigate on my own."

"How unusual you're not sticking close to that boy."

"I respect his privacy. He demanded rest and I don't want to interrupt that. Please help me carry out my individual investigation."

They again fell silent for some time.

"Fine. I'll give you the keys."

Kuina's face brightened up.

"Your help is very much appreciated."

"However, I'm coming along."

What?! If he comes along he'll find out that I'm lying! What should i… "Alright." Replied Kuina.

No. Its the best. I'll pretend I'm investigating then follow him for the rest of the day.

"Let's go there now."

As they arrived at the location, Ludic proceeded to insert the key to the door when Kuina interrupted him.

"Can i get the keys?"

Ludic paused and glanced down at her. "I'm opening the door anyway. Why do you require it?"

"It appears that I'll need to come here again a multiple more times for proper inspection. I would rather not bother you everytime."

Ludic hesitated. It caught Kuina's suspicion.

Why did Ludic Boseman look hesitant?

Is he hiding anything?

"Fine." He handed her the key to the room.

"Your cooperation is much appreciated, sir."

"Sure." He slightly swung his hand forward gesturing to her to enter. "Go ahead. Search whatever you want."

"Yes!"

Kuina had successfully fulfilled her first quest. It was time for her to put her pretence skills to the test.

She walked inside and inspected the desk.

"It is rather a waste of time. I inspected this place before and found nothing in particular." Spoke Ludic.

"Still. I'd like to have a look myself."

Ludic, at the back, scoffed. "You're unexpectedly sharp, i must say."

"Thanks…" she breathed softly knowing that the compliment didn't belong to her. It was Fein's idea, she was only there to execute it.

It felt wrong to her.

She raised her glances from the desk drawers to the ceiling, at the obscure casing of the white light.

What would Fein have done if it was him? If it was him, he wouldn't have felt as nervous as i am feeling. It'd have been a walk in the park for him. Since i can never figure out what is in his mind.

How was he built as a person?

Does he have no trauma? No regret? No guilt?

Suddenly the flashes of red blurry image startled her. She quickly lowered her glances. That's when the sparkles of light flickered in her brain. "What was the doctor even doing in the engine room?"

"That's what I was investigating." Replied Ludic.

"Would you mind if I accompanied you in your search?"

Ludic didn't look as pleased with the proposal. However, Kuina asserted her plea to him. "I'm curious, please! I also want to put a stop to these deaths!"

Ludic sighed in defeat. "Suit yourself."

Kuina smiled a victorious smile. She now understood why Fein asked her to do what she did.

Ludic Boseman was oddly suspicious.

Is it possible that he has a connection with the beast or whatever?

Kuina was careful to leave the door unlocked for Fein after they left the cabin.

For the rest of the day she followed Ludic and observed him closely.

Yulia, on the other hand, had discovered something quite astonishing. It was something she had least expected.

"It was a feud over the custody of two individuals."

She was on a call with someone she was familiar with. She, together with the person, decided to investigate the riot inside DOR. Or rather she irked the person to do the work for her. She was the best when it came to involving herself into dirty business without dirtying her own hands. It was only a few hours when they commenced their investigation and they came down to a shocking rumour already.

"According to the intel, the individuals were suspected to harbour supernatural powers."

Yulia smacked her lips as she began to speak. "What supernatural power do you speak of?"

"The details are still unknown. The basis of the riot was to apprehend those individuals and exploit their powers for the sake of humanity."

"Did… the Beast Slayer.. come from their powers?"

"No. Actually the only thing i found about Beast Slayers is that the founder is missing. I'll have to delve further inside to know every details. Just pray I don't get caught before that."

"Very well. You have my blessings, Mae." She smirked. "Let's keep this conversation between us. No one should find out."

"Pfft. I dare defy you, my lady."

"Haha."

She disconnected the call and shoved the cellphone into the ocean. She couldn't afford to let the higher ups discover her attempt of digging the secrets of the organization.

Something world changing happened in the first few months after the disaster struck.
