Happy Moment

Sophia woke up the following morning looking worried. She mumbled a few words of prayer and went to the kitchen to clean up and also cook.

The threat letter rushed to her mind. She did not want her mother to know because she did not want her mum's joy for Wilson to be interrupted, so she kept it to herself, but she decided to tell her friend when she came back from work.

Sophia quickly went to the market to buy some stuff for her mother since she would be going back that particular day. She got to the market and discovered that the prices of those items had skyrocketed.

"Where have you been? I woke up and I discovered you were not around, "Mrs. Bernard said.

"I went to get some stuff for you and your dad." She replied, and she sat down.

Oh, that is very good of you, but you could have left it to when I'm celebrating my birthday. She said as she collected the items from her daughter.

"Wow, this fits me perfectly," Mrs. Bernard announced.

"Yes, your birthday celebration will be great. Mum will look like a sweet sixteen on that day. I already know the style I will sew for you, "Sophia said happily."

"That is my daughter! Thank you. " Mrs. Bernard said as she put the items in her bag.

"My daughter, invite your new friend. I want to see him there," she said, rolling her eyes.

"Mum! I don't know yet. I barely know him, and you want me to invite him. Will he even come there? Sophia answered.

Of course, he will tell him. Mrs. Bernard said authoritatively.

"OK, mum," Sophia said calmly.

Sophia helped her mother carry her load to the junction. Her phone beeped and she discovered it was Wilson. He called the second time and she picked up. Wilson asked her where she was and she mentioned it.

He said he wanted to say goodbye to her mother before she left, so Sophia asked her mother angrily, and her mother nodded her head in response. Shortly, they found a place to sit at the bus stop.

Twenty minutes later, a car stopped at their front, and Wilson came out. He greeted Sophia's mother. Sophia's mum was impressed because many of his friends' children were proud and arrogant, but he was different.

Mrs. Bernard greeted him with a broad smile. He too returned the smile, but this time around, Sophia also smiled.

Wilson signalled to Sophia to follow her to where he had packed his car. He opened the boot and gave Sophia a 4 litre container of vegetable oil and a sealed 5 kg of rice. He also carries a carton of noodles and a 10kg bag of semolina. Sophia did not know what to say; she just followed him like a robot. When they got to where Mrs. Bernard was sitting, Wilson dropped the stuff and bowed his head.

"Mum, take my little gift," Wilson said calmly.

Mrs. Bernard's eyes widened, looking at the bunch of gifts in front of her. After recovering from the initial shock, A satisfying smile appeared on her face. She nodded twice and thanked him.

Sophia and Wilson waved goodbye as Mrs. Bernard's vehicle departed. Sophia's eyes reddened with a cloud of tears. She sniffed, trying to get hold of her tears.

Sophia was missing her mum already. Wilson unconsciously dragged her to himself to console her. Sophia was surprised that she didn't object to it. As they were together, a car halted, winded down and then moved again, but they didn't notice. They were there for a few minutes before they separated. Then, Wilson told her he could get her home.

Sophia accepted that he should take her home because she had not prepared for the shop. Wilson took her home. As Sophia got down from the car, he thanked Wilson for the gift and for helping her home.

"Oh, common. Don't thank me. I need something else from you. " Wilson said shamelessly.

When Sophia heard his shameless words, Her face reddened. She bit the corner of her lip and rushed toward the door. Just then, she heard Wilson's voice.

"Can I get a drink? I'm kinda of thirsty. " He said, with a straight face.

Sophia's heart skipped a beat; she did not know how to deny him. Wilson looked around the sitting room. The pictures were well arranged, and the furniture was well arranged. Everything appeared neat, even though the place was small.

He could not but congratulate her for her nearness. Sophia smiled as she gave him the water. She was happy that her mother came to visit him in the state because the presence of her mum was the reason why her house was extra neat.

Wilson sat down comfortably, as if he was not going anywhere else that day. Sophia was just moving up and down, praying in her mind that he should take his leave.

"Won't you give your visitor food?" Wilson asked jokingly.

Sophia was jotted out of her thoughts. She stood up and asked what he wanted to eat.

"Anything will do," he replied calmly.

Sophia remembered that she cooked extra food in the morning. She warmed the food and presented it to her. Sophia was surprised that Wilson ate the food with a wild smile on his face.

"Gush! I didn't know you were such a great chef. " Wilson commented with a smile.

"Really?" Sophia's face beamed with a smile while her ears reddened.

"Of course. How would I lie to my lady? " Wilson stood and cleaned his hand with the napkin and added When are you returning to the shop? I wish to follow you. "

Sophia wanted to object, but she knew that Wilson would not take "No" for an answer. So she accepted. She quickly packed the clothes she wanted to sew, put on another sandal, and went to her room to close the windows.

Before she came back, Wilson already checked her shoe size and the size of her dress, which she placed neatly on the chair. Sophia came out of her room and announced that she was ready to go. Wilson stood up and held Sophia's hand.

"Thanks so much for the food. Your house is as beautiful as you. I'm looking forward to the next time I can eat this delicious meal again," Wilson said calmly.

Sophia's heart skipped a bit, and she could not talk but nodded in response. They were still in that position when Tracy bumped into them.

"Hope I'm not interrupting anything." She said, as she was about to turn back.
