Chapter 9: Misdiagnosis at the Hospital

Thinking about her mother's recent suicide threats to force her into dating, Meng Ning felt even more terrified. When they arrived at the hospital, Meng Ning asked the nurse station and found out her mother was on the third floor. She hurried upstairs, with Fu Tingxiu closely following.

In the third-floor ward, Meng's mother had just woken up. The doctor came in with the examination report. "It's nothing serious, just low blood sugar. Make sure to rest and eat regularly. It's best to keep some candy with you."

Meng's mother was skeptical. "Is it really just low blood sugar?"

A few months ago, she had been diagnosed with cancer at the hospital. When she fainted just now, she thought her illness had progressed and she was going to die.

The doctor reassured her, "It's indeed low blood sugar. You can be discharged after resting for a while."

"Doctor, please check again carefully. Do I have any other illnesses?"

"Mom." Meng Ning rushed in, her eyes red. "Mom, are you okay? How did you suddenly faint? Doctor, what's wrong with my mom?"

The doctor said, "Are you a family member? The patient has low blood sugar and is overly fatigued. She just needs to rest and eat regularly. There's no major issue."

Hearing this, Meng Ning breathed a sigh of relief. On the way to the hospital, she had imagined many worst-case scenarios, fearing her mother might be in serious condition.

Meng's mother was still puzzled. "Doctor, are you sure I don't have any other illnesses? Three months ago, I was diagnosed with cancer at this hospital."

Hearing this, Meng Ning's face turned pale as she looked at the doctor.

The doctor replied, "According to the examination results, there are no other health issues. If you're worried, we can conduct a comprehensive check-up."

Meng Ning immediately said, "Yes, please do another check-up."

Only a thorough check-up could bring peace of mind.

The doctor said, "Alright, the family member needs to go pay the fee."

Then the doctor instructed the assistant, "Arrange for another set of tests."

Fu Tingxiu said to Meng Ning, "You stay here with your mom. I'll go pay the fee."

Meng Ning, not wanting to leave her mother alone, nodded in agreement.

Usually, when her mother had minor illnesses, Meng Ning took care of everything by herself. This time, with Fu Tingxiu helping, she felt much relieved.

Soon, the second set of test results came back, confirming that Meng's mother only had low blood sugar and was not suffering from cancer.

After an investigation, the hospital discovered that there had been a mistake. Meng's mother had taken the wrong test report and mistakenly believed she had cancer.

When Meng's mother heard she didn't have cancer, she was stunned for a few seconds before hugging Meng Ning and bursting into tears.

"Xiaoning, I'm sorry. Mom thought I was dying, so I forced you into a blind date and you rushed into marriage. If you're not happy in the future, it'll be my fault." Meng's mother cried as she spoke. "Xiaoning, if you divorce now, we can take our time to find someone you like and who suits you."

Meng Ning glanced awkwardly at Fu Tingxi who stood nearby. She had only been married for a week. Was her mother really asking her to divorce Fu Tingxi? Would that not make Fu Tingxi a victim of her mistake, becoming a second-time divorcee?

Meng Ning had to remind her mother, "Mom, please calm down. There's someone else here."

Meng's mother looked up and finally noticed the man standing in the hospital room. "Xiaoning, who is this handsome young man?"

Meng Ning forced a smile and introduced, "Mom, this is your son-in-law, Fu Tingxi."

Meng's mother was stunned, instantly stopping her tears. Fu Tingxi spoke gently, addressing her with "Mother-in-law."

The term "mother-in-law" startled Meng's mother, making her stutter, "You... you're Fu Tingxi? Handsome, very handsome. This blind date website seems reliable. Good choice, he's really handsome."

Meng's mother felt embarrassed, and so did Meng Ning. The atmosphere was becoming awkward.

Fu Tingxi, however, hid a smile in his eyes. He found this mother-daughter duo quite amusing. "Meng Ning, help your mom pack up. I'll bring the car around. Since everything is fine now, let's leave the hospital. Home is more comfortable than here."

Indeed, Meng's mother didn't need to stay in the hospital. She didn't like hospitals much anyway. Fu Tingxi had been busy taking care of everything, and Meng's mother had noticed it all.

Before, I was worried that Meng Ning might have married the wrong person, but now it seems it might not be so bad after all. The details reveal a person's character. After Fu Tingxi came to the hospital, he took the initiative to handle the expenses and carefully communicated with the doctors before the results came out. From these aspects, he seems quite decent.
