Chapter 48: Battle of the Original Wife

Meng Ning stood silently, leaving Zhu Jun utterly at a loss. He had hidden this for so many years, and now being caught by Meng Ning could spell disaster if it reached Yang Liu's ears.

Zhu Jun quickly asked the woman to wait in the car. The mistress was displeased, saying, "Who's that woman? You look so pale, what are you afraid of?"

Zhu Jun humbly lowered his voice to explain, "She's Yang Liu's niece."

The mistress was suddenly amused, "Your wife's niece? So what if she saw us? It's good we don't have to hide anymore. My belly's getting big anyway, I can't hide it."

Hearing this, Meng Ning scrutinized the mistress more closely and remembered where she had seen her before. Wasn't this mistress a nurse at the same hospital as Zhu Jun? She vaguely recalled seeing her twice when taking her mother to Zhu Jun's hospital for treatment.

Zhu Jun wasn't a doctor at this public hospital and deliberately brought the mistress here for prenatal check-ups to avoid being recognized.

"You go back to the car first. I need to talk to my sister-in-law," Zhu Jun insisted, urging the mistress to leave.

The mistress pouted reluctantly and left.

Zhu Jun tried to smile apologetically at Meng Ning. "Meng Ning, here for a medical check-up? Feeling unwell?"

"I'm here for a physical examination."

Zhu Jun avoided mentioning the mistress, and Meng Ning didn't pick up the topic either.

Unable to contain his anxiety, Zhu Jun hesitated and said, "Meng Ning, about what just happened... please don't tell Yang Liu. You know her temper. It could cause a huge mess. Wang Xia's pregnancy isn't stable yet."

Wang Xia was the mistress, who had worked with Zhu Jun at the hospital before and had been his assistant.

Listening to this conversation, Qin Huan couldn't help but scoff quietly. The mistress was already pregnant with their second child, yet she still hoped to keep her position at home while flaunting her colors outside.

Meng Ning particularly detested unfaithful people in relationships. She said firmly, "Brother-in-law, I advise you to come clean with my sister sooner rather than later. There are no secrets in this world that can stay hidden forever. Lies only snowball and grow bigger until they can't be contained."

Zhu Jun repeatedly nodded, "Yes, yes, I've been wanting to find the right moment to explain everything. Wang Xia is pregnant now, but don't worry, Meng Ning, I'll handle this. I was foolish at first, and alcohol got the better of me. Later, Wang Xia kept clinging to me, and I couldn't do anything about it."

Meng Ning couldn't possibly believe such nonsense. However, as an outsider in this matter of Zhu Jun's infidelity within his marriage, there was only so much she could do.

Qin Huan sarcastically remarked, "Nine out of ten cheating men say the same."

Zhu Jun was embarrassed by Qin Huan's jab, awkwardly laughing, "Meng Ning, about Yang Liu..."

Zhu Jun needed a definite answer from Meng Ning. He had to stabilize her first, buying time where possible.

However, before Zhu Jun could finish his thought, there was a commotion from the direction of the elevator, accompanied by Wang Xia's piercing screams of agony.

Zhu Jun hurried towards the elevator, and Meng Ning exchanged a glance with Qin Huan before following quickly.

At the hospital elevator, Wang Xia was being dragged by her hair and struck by Yang Liu herself. Yang Liu slapped Wang Xia several times and shouted furiously, "Shameless woman! Everyone, look at her! This woman seduced my husband and ruined my family. She's a shameless mistress!"

Wang Xia was bewildered and her face swollen. Seeing Zhu Jun arrive, she cried out for help, "Jun Ge, save me, please, save me."

"Yang Liu, let go!" Zhu Jun rushed over, pulled Yang Liu away, and anxiously asked Wang Xia, "Is the baby okay?"

Zhu Jun was worried about the child. This was Zhu family's future. He was nearly forty and had struggled to have a son.

Wang Xia held her stomach and cried, "Jun Ge, my stomach hurts! Quickly, teach that bitch a lesson! She wants to kill your son!"

Hearing their conversation, Yang Liu was devastated. She realized her husband had been unfaithful, but she didn't know the mistress was pregnant.

It was only then she noticed Wang Xia's slightly bulging belly—probably nearly four months pregnant.

Yang Liu completely broke down. Without any restraint, she grabbed Zhu Jun and demanded, "Zhu Jun, tell me! Is the child in her belly yours? How long have you two been at it?"
