Wayne and Kaylar had a quiet dinner.
They exchanged a few words before heading to their rooms to retire for the night.
Inside Kaylar's room.
Kaylar lay on the bed. She was speaking to her mom over the phone and she sounded meek.
"Mom, I promise I'm fine. He's nice to me, it's not as bad as I thought it would be. "
Kaylar lied through her teeth.
She couldn't bare to make her mom worried. She spoke to her mom for a while before ending the call.
She looked towards Wayne's room before switching off the bedside lamp.
…
Towards the southern plain of the city.
Kaylar's mom sat on her bed and she sighed endlessly. She could tell when Kaylar was lying, and she was.
Her biggest fear was for Kaylar to make the same mistakes she made and suffer as she did.
A marriage without love destroys a person inside-out, and she didn't want her little princess to experience that.
Her thoughts slowly drifted to the early hours of the day when she paid a visit to the Harper mansion.
…
"Madam, this way please" Kaylar's mom was led into the living room of the Harper mansion by the Butler.
She passed the familiar hallways in a despondent manner as a melancholic smile formed on her lips.
Inside the living.
"Emilia, it's been a long time" Kaylar's dad stood up to greet Emilia.
"Indeed," Kaylar's mom sat down elegantly as she scanned the room.
She meets the gaze of Jane and her daughter Asherly.
Kaylar's dad Mark had a warm smile on his face. He respected Emilia because of her decisiveness and willingness to let go.
He was well aware of her feelings towards him but he had someone in his heart.
Jane and Mark had been in a relationship before his marriage was arranged with Kaylar's mom.
At that time Jane was pregnant and Mark could not marry her because of her lowly background and his marriage to Emilia.
He made a deal with Emilia that they would separate after their daughter Kaylar had turned eighteen years of age.
Although heartbroken Emilia agreed to his deal to end her unrequited love in a marriage that would never work out.
The marriage between Kaylar's parents was a marriage built on respect and not on love.
"Are you here to discuss Kaylar's wedding?" A warm smile graced Mark's lips at the mention of Kaylar.
Kaylar's mom regained her composure, "yes I'm here exactly for that," she paused then continued in a sharp tone. "Mark, how could you agree to a marriage on her behalf? You claim to love her right? Is this the best way to show you damned love huh?"
Mark was at a loss for words as he stared at his ex-wife.
"Emilia do you think my consent would have mattered in this marriage, I had no say in this" Kaylar's dad's eyes turned red as he spoke. "Left to me I would never let our princess get married at such a young age."
"Really?" Kaylar's mom lifted a brow.
"You have to believe me on this one" Kaylar's dad hurriedly replied.
"And also Kaylar registered her marriage with that child from the Frenados, I hope you perform the proper rites as her father"
With that, Emilia stood up and left.
Asherly, who was seated silently, rushed towards Mark and held his shoulders. "Dad, what did she mean by that? Did Kaylar get married to Wayne?" her eyes reddened at the end of her word.
"Yes dear, Your sister Kaylar got married to Wayne" Mark coaxed with a fatherly tone.
"She is not my sister! how can she snatch everything I want away from me?" Asherly busted out as she cried on her dad's lap.
"It's okay dear there are a lot of handsome suitors lined up for you, be good don't cry anymore you're hurting Dad" Mark coaxed her to no avail.
"I want Wayne, he is the only one I want Dad" Asherly's voice started cracking as her tears stained her face.
At that moment she looked like an aggrieved person.
…
The next morning.
Kaylar woke up at the time she normally woke up. She lay on the bed and tossed around before gathering enough willpower to get off the bed.
She took her bath and got dressed before heading downstairs for breakfast.
"Good morning eldest madam" Butler Lie greeted as Kaylar walked into the dining room.
He pulled out a chair for her before retiring to his position at the corner of the room.
The maids served her breakfast as she took a sip of the orange juice. Her eyes drifted to Wayne's empty seat.
"Butler Lie, do you know where the young master is?" Kaylar placed the glass on the table as she waited for a response.
"He left for work an hour ago and he said not to disturb you from your sleep." Butler Lie replied.
'Oh shit, I've messed up big time,' Kaylar sighed inwardly as she stared at the plate of food.
"Okay, thank you."
Kaylar ate quickly and collected her car keys from the Butler before leaving for work.
…
At the Frenado Corporation.
Kaylar walked into her office hurriedly and took a seat.
She logged into her laptop and viewed Wayne's schedule for the day, it was packed up which meant more work for her.
She heard Wayne's voice through the intercom and subconsciously straightened her posture. "Mrs Kaylar report to my office now"
'What's up with him? Why does he sound grumpy this early in the morning?' Kaylar surlily thought.
*knock*
*knock*
"Come in" Wayne's magnetic voice rang out from the other end of the room.
Kaylar opened the door and entered the office with steadied steps.
"Good morning CEO Wayne" she greeted when she was close enough to his table.
"Hmm, I'll be attending a social gathering in the evening right?" Wayne asked.
"Yes, the gathering is being organised by the CEO of the delight Firm" Kaylar professionally replied.
It looked like a regular CEO with his secretary but their relationship was far from that.
"You'll attend the gathering with me. Do you have an objection?" Wayne's gaze landed on her face.
'Like I have a choice' Kaylar inwardly rolled her eyes.
"No, I'm fine with the arrangement" Kaylar forced out a smile.
