Prince Vincent (3)

If the youngest young lady of the Anderson family was like a never-ending blooming flower, always attracting bees to her petals, then the eldest young lady was like the manure used to grow that flower.

Whether it was a scheme or not, Vincent had noticed that the reputation of the eldest young lady of the Anderson family always boosted the reputation of her younger sister.

Everyone would always compare the good to the bad. That was the case with the famous twin sisters of the Anderson family.

Vincent had heard about the good relationship between the two sisters, but that was not of his concern when he had problems to deal in his own family. Besides, the fiancé of the youngest young lady of the Anderson was decided to be the only inheritor of the kings family. It could be seen that the heir of the Anderson family was decided between the two sisters through that engagement.

The kings family was the top elite family in the country, and top twenty-five in the world. The Anderson family had really chosen well for their youngest daughter.

However….

In this world, one had to learn that good things never last forever.

No one could have predicted that the youngest young lady of the Anderson family would die in an accident.

According to the rumors, the eldest young lady was with her, driving out from their graduation high-school party in a club. She, the person driving, was the one who survived in the accident.

It hadn't been a surprise to Vincent when he heard words that she must have killed her twin sister for wealth. He also thought the same, since there was nothing impossible for people with money like them. There was never an end to schemes in families like theirs.

Even if the police had cleared the air about driver having alcohol in his system, many thought she had hired the person to do that.

'She's really different...' Vincent observed the masked lady playing and laughing with the puppies. In the high society, the rumors had painted her as a dull mute before the accident, and after the accident, she was painted as a ruthless killer.

''Can you take care of them? I am not familiar with dogs, and I don't think I will have time just for them.'' Vincent called to her attention. Her face hidden behind the black mask finally focused on himself.

'I did hear that her face was destroyed. It seems to be only a side.' Vincent's eyes briefly concentrated on the masked part of her face. This was the reason why she did not have any friends in the university.

Vincent had transferred last semester. To blend in as a normal person, he put on a mask of a kind person. He wasn't someone originally like that, but he wanted to have a peaceful life now that his father and half-brother were not around him.

Naturally, he had known about words of a masked lady in the same level as him but in a different department. Vincent knew no reason why many spoke badly about her, and he didn't bother to get to the end of the matter.

To him, that person was a stranger who should deal with her problems until he heard her name.

Calla Anderson.

He thought it must have been a coincidence for someone to have a name of the eldest young lady of Anderson family.

Not until his grandfather had told him that there was someone from the high society attending the public university, and he guessed the person was the Calla Anderson attending his school.

When humans are faced with mysterious people, their curiosity would get the best of them. Calla was that mysterious person to Vincent. A lady that her family abandoned for something that might not be her fault. A lady who quietly disappeared from the eyes of high society without changing her bad reputation.

Vincent was quite curious about her, but he never made a move to speak to her until the pet shop incident.

''Hmm.'' Calla nodded with a hum. She worked in a pet shop, so it wasn't just strange that he came to find her in her department. He must have known her name even before coming to the pet shop.

Thinking that, Calla's eyes remained on the two puppies on her lap, gently brushing her fingers through their golden, soft fur. She could feel the sharp edge of their bones.

''They need proper care,'' She added softly. Vincent was someone who took care of her favorite animal. She thought it wasn't a bad idea to speak with him till they part ways in their respective lives, not speaking with each other.

''Yes, they do.'' Vincent agreed, quite surprised that she took the initiative to continue the conversation between them.

''My grandfather is not a big fan of animals, so I could not take them home,'' He added, thinking of his grumpy old man.

'''Don't worry about it. You did more than enough, Vincent.'' Calla's gaze went up and a warm smile laid on her lips. '' Thank you.''

''….You are welcome.'' Vincent said after a brief pause. He never expected a smile from her until she gave him one. A full-blown smile different from the small one she gave him in the pet shop.

Suddenly, Vincent thought the people that called her an ugly woman were stupid and very blind. Even if her face was partly destroyed, that did not damage the beauty as a woman.

*****

As Calla expected, she and Vincent parted ways. They weren't friends, so there was no need for them to be together. Vincent only spoke to her about dogs and nothing more.

'I should take them to a vet.' Calla's head was filled with thoughts about the puppies and mother dog. The sun was setting, and she was on her way from the pet shop.

'Should I take them in? I can hire a pet sitter for them and stop by the apartment during free times.'

There was no big kernel for the dog family, and Miss Lola had said that she was allowed her to have them as her own. Calla was a big lover of animals and it was very tempting to do that. But she knew that she couldn't just bring in pets without her husband's permission. After all, the mansion was not their home, but his and her sister's.

''Madam…'' Calla's gaze found Carol who welcomed her with an anxious gaze. ''Madam, Sir's mother is here.'' Her words were whispers, like she was scared to be heard by another.

''....'' Calla heard her loud and clear. Her facial expression did not change, like the sudden visit of her mother-in-law did not surprise her.

''I will entertain mother-in-law. Take my bag to the room, and prepare refreshments for mother-in-law,'' She ordered calmly with a forced smile. She was aware why Carol was behaving so nervously about her mother-in-law's visit.

Her mother-in-law was a very difficult person to please.

Carol did as she said, and she made her way to the main living room of the mansion, where she knew her mother-in-law would be waiting for her.

At the doorway, Calla paused and stared at the beautiful woman seated on the couch with her legs crossed like a queen. Unlike herself, the woman's appearance depicted that she was a woman from a rich family. Fixed nails, heavy makeup, expensive dressing and jewelry, poised countenance…anyone could tell that she was a person of an elite family.

Her twin sister, when she was alive, also looked like a person from an elite family. She was one and dressed like one. Under parents' special care, her sister was brought like a princess in a fairytale.

Calla knew that if her twin sister was alive, she would be dressed like her mother-in-law. Maybe the make-up would be less, but everything else on this woman's body would have been on her twin sister's if she were only alive.

Taking a deep breath, Calla calmed her nerves and thoughts, then entered the room with a welcoming smile. ''Good evening, mother.''
