Chapter 40

As Leo walked out of his office with the others, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath before letting it out slowly.

'She is okay! Thank God, she is okay!' He thought emphatically to himself with relief, as questions that begged for immediate answers started running through his mind...

'She changed into a monster right in front of me?... Pfft, yeah right! Like that's even possible. If that was not her that turned into the monster, then does that mean I'm delusional!? Am I going crazy!?'

There are no other explanations to excuse the fact that he almost strangled a defenseless woman to death. He looked down at his two hands like they don't belong to him anymore, they were the hands that just betrayed their owner.

When Chris shouted to him that she was not responding, the first thought that came to mind was a question he asked himself

'I'm never going to see her again!?'

That realization alone filled him with horror and great fear. He felt hot and then a rush of cold air all over his body at the same time. At that point, one fact became certain to him. He has fallen in love with her. What Chris and his grandfather had begged him not to do was not going to be possible. Leo has unknowingly fallen in love with the number one enemy of the Salvador family.

Whether she's the enemy or not. Whichever tag his family and friends have attached to her doesn't matter to him at that particular moment. What matters was only her survival. He had to make sure she survived because it felt to him as if he was about to lose the most important person in his life all over again. The feeling was like when he just lost his dad.

That was why her survival was paramount to his existence. That was why he was prepared to go through Paul in order to get her to the hospital. That was why he had to make sure she survives and he thank God she did.

Chris also had questions that were begging for answers running through his mind.

'What happened to Leo? What snapped in him? He might be angry with her but he would never put his hands on her. The Leo that he grew up with won't hesitate to go head-to-head with any man, but he would never, ever put his hands on a woman.

So guess how he felt when he walked into Leo's office and saw his friend's hand around a helpless woman's neck. He was surprised and shocked to the core. That situation was not what he expected to see when he got the call that Leo needed saving.

As one of the investors of Max's proposed new company. They were all in a meeting and almost rounding up when he got that urgent call from Leo's grandfather.

"Leo needs your help right now Chris! Please hurry to the Salvadorian Empire right now!"

He was at first puzzled by the call, wondering why Leo had to send his grandfather to ask for his help. Why couldn't he call and ask him personally if he needed his help since they've been best friends since their kindergarten days?

He picked his phone and immediately dialed Leo's number. He became worried though when Leo didn't pick up after several calls. He asked to be excused from the meeting and told Max why he had to live. Max immediately rounded up the meeting and they both hurried down to the Empire.

Perhaps if they had not waited when Leo's secretary told them he was in a meeting with an intern, they would have been able to save the situation and saved Leo from himself. Guess Leo's grandfather also called his assistant because he rushed into Leo's private reception area and ushered them inside in a hurry.

Now Chris was afraid of what might ensue after this incident. Would Leo be in trouble for what he did to her? The thought was scary but he sure hopes not.

Leo's grandfather was a powerful man in the country and he hopes that he would be able to do something... anything to squash the assault situation regardless of how Leo might be feeling about her. It sounded selfish, yes but it is what it is. He's sure not going to pick her over his best friend...

Max felt numb while walking out of Leo's office. The whole situation shocked him. But what shocked him the more was the look on Leo's face when Chris announced that the girl wasn't responding to the CPR that was being administered on her.

He saw sadness and fear on Leo's face. This fear was not because Leo was afraid legal action could be taken against him because of what he did to the girl. This fear was born out of a sense of loss. Looking at Leo and how his emotions were apparent on his face. The fact of the situation kind of hit him square in the face...

They've both fallen in love with the same girl. Leo is no longer a friend. He's now his rival. The rival that wants to take away his happiness.

Every Monday was when The president of The Kings construction firm meet with his key directors, managers, and supervisors who would give a progress report of the previous week's various projects that were handled by each department.

Jason was checking some data charts presented by one of his project managers when he suddenly felt a tremor ripped through his body. To prevent his body from convulsing with the violent shakes that he was now familiar with, he steeled himself.

His hands clutched hard at the hand rest of his executive chair and then just as the tremor came on him, it stopped. His muscles then began to relax, he leaned back on his chair and also relaxed his grip on it.

"Are you okay sir?" The female project manager who was showing him the data on her laptop asked when she saw Jason had relaxed his back with his eyes closed.

"Yeah, I'm fine..." He replied the manager before announcing to the rest of the people inside the conference room.

"This meeting is adjourned. We will continue from where we stop today, tomorrow.

"Yes sir!" They all chorus in answer.

Jason watched as they stood up and gather their files and laptops before they began to fill out of the conference room.

He rested his back and closed his eyes again so he could regain some of the lost energy that just drained out of him. His father is dying. He could feel it because of the tremor that just ripped through his body and the energy loss.

'Finally!' Jason thought with relief. They had their two souls connected and because of that, the father has been living off of the son's energy to keep on living.

Jason guessed his father had made another attempt on the trio again despite all his warning that they cannot win against them.! Well, it doesn't matter to him anymore. Now he can have peace.

After he has rested enough, he would go home to see what's left of his father, clean him up and inform the other fraternity members so they could come to carry out the funeral. The black fraternity buries its own.

"My love are you okay?" The manager that was with him when the tremor ripped through his body asked. She has stayed behind after the others had left.

"Not now Erin, please..." He said with his eyes still closed

"Why not now? She asked, frustration apparent in her voice. "I've missed you so much these past weeks and I can't wait to have you again inside me, please"

"Get that thoughts out of your head right now because its never gonna happen. He said to her face before turning her around. He bent her over the conference table, face down and bum in the air.

"What thought are you talking about?" She asked him in confusion because she didn't know he could read minds

Jason laughed again. "What thoughts do you have in your head?" He asked and collected the condom she always have ready whenever they want to have sex.
