Chapter 21: Emergency Call

Sarah’s leg failed and she collapsed on the grass, since Victor wasn’t able to see it coming. He took her by her arms and put her on her feet again, but she was very sure that she would fall again if he loosened his grip.

“Sarah, are you okay?” She heard his voice asking, but her mind was miles away from there. The only thought inside her head was that she couldn’t lose her Nana, not now.

“I… I’ll be there as soon as possible. Thank you,” she mumbled over the phone, not even giving herself the trouble to turn off the call.

“Sarah?” Victor’s voice called one more time, and this time, she managed to see his honey-colored eyes in front of her. If she was lucid and not worried about her grandmother, she would definitely blush.

Victor’s brows were frowned and he didn’t let go of her arms, not even for a second. He guided her to a wood bench under the nearest tree and asked one of the staff from the horse stable to bring her some water.
