Chapter 040

"Look who finally decided to show up!" Lio, the basketball coach blew his whistle as soon as Oscar arrived on the training court.

"What's up man. I haven't seen you on campus for some time now" Jonas gave Oscar a friendly hug.

"I was dealing with some urgent matters. You won't see me on campus for some time though. But, I'll try my best to squeeze out time for the SBC games" Oscar replied.

"Speaking of the SBC, Coach announced that the first phase will be kicking off next week" Jonas informed.

 "So fast?" Drew was surprised.

But that was it. He wasn't nervous or scared. Thanks to the *Beginner tier basketball level 9* skill he stole from Perry.

If he ever came across a formidable opponent, he could just use *Snatch* to steal their skill from them.

The next day, after single handedly preparing breakfast of toast and scrambled eggs, Oscar placed a call across to Mr. Weymer.

"Good morning Mr. Drew" a tired and lazy voice groaned from the other end.

"You sound tired. Perhaps I should call you later?" Oscar attempted to hang up.

"Don't bother. I just finished attending to some duty call" Mr Weymer's voice became normal.

"So, what do you need my help with?" Mr. Weymer asked.

"You know of my plans to start my company right? Can you link me up with a good tele communication company?"

"If I am not mistaken, you want to advertise job offers in your company, isn't that it?"

"Yes. Do you know any?" Oscar enquired.

"Sadly I don't. I mostly deal in the real estate sector. But I can ask around for you" Mr. Weymer replied.

 "Thank you. It's much appreciated"

After hanging up, Oscar switched on his computer. Suddenly, he recalled that he forgot to complete the system's quest of spending $50,000 a day.

"Hunks. Why isn't the system punishing me?" he asked the system's A.I.

 -[Punish you? for what?]

"I didn't complete the system's quest so, I was expecting the system to discipline me for my failure. For example, degrading my cultivation?"

-[Pft. Your imaginations really run wild huh. Although the system calls it a quest, there are no punishments if you fail to achieve them. The system has a kind of symbiotic relationship with you of mutual benefits. It isn't a parasite] Hunks explained.

"Symbiotic relationship? But what does it stand to gain?" Oscar felt like the system was becoming more and more difficult to see through.

-[The level of your inheritance isn't eligible to access such information]

"Damn you. Then when will I receive my next inheritance and when will I be able to access that 'information'?"

-[When the time comes. You will know]

"Tch. You really love keeping me in suspense" Oscar snorted, focusing his attention back on the laptop.

After brainstorming a bit, he eventually settled for the stock market.

Scrolling down a bit, he finally settled for one.

.

He spent $1,500 buying the remaining stock, before moving on to the next.

"This won't work!" Oscar switched off his laptop with frustration.

The rate at which he was farming Centi Points was darn too low. Not to mention that the system's lottery spin was very unpredictable.

 Buzz! Buzz!

"Hm?" Oscar saw an unknown number calling his phone.

 "Hello?"

"I am speaking to Mr. Oscar correct?" Oscar heard an unfamiliar voice from the other end.

"Uhm. Yes. How did you get my number?"

"My name is Trums Jamie. You bought my property the Cloudpeach Groove office building" the other party introduced themself.

"Is there a misunderstanding somewhere? the contract stated that the office builing was open for sale or lease. I went through the right protocols" Oscar thought that the other party wanted to accuse him of buying the property without their consent, so he wanted to clear the air.

"No. It isn't about that. Actually, I wanted to call to thank you. I find it unbecoming to do that on phone so can we meet up at a place? I will send you the location"

After the other party hung up, an sms popped up in Oscar's phone, depicting an address to a local pub.

"What do you think? is it another assasination attempt?" Oscar asked Hunks.

-[I feel the caller was sincere]

A black masarati drove into the premises of a large mansion covered in golden colored paint.

Patrolling the premises were several men in combat boots and badass black jackets, sporting dark shades.

Silas alighted the masarati, making his way towards the mansion.

"Young master, your uncle has arrived" a burly man with bald head informed Silas.

 "Oh? take me to him"

Leading the way, the burly man finally arrived at a garden, at the rear end of the mansion.

A slim figured middle aged man who stood backing them, clad in shorts and vest, watered the various plants with the water kettle he held.

"Uncle Rivers!" Silas hugged his uncle, who dropped the water kettle and reciprocated.

"How is campus my boy?" Uncle Rivers asked with genuine concern in his eyes.

"Unbearable. Atleast for these past days" Silas groaned, recalling how Oscar whooped his ass.

"Oh? who dares bully you in that place?" Uncle Rivers frowned.

Silas secretly grinned when he noticed this.

"His name is Oscar. He heard that you are a covert op and insulted your profession, claiming that you are a government slave"

"He said what?!" Uncle Rivers eyes flashed with a terrifying glint as an unsuppressable pressure exploded out of his being.

It was a unique pressure, exclusive to only Deviants that were past the Decimus rank!

"U-Uncle.. yo.. you.." due to standing too close, Uncle Rivers martial aura pressed down on Silas, almost ridding him of oxygen.

"Sorry" Uncle Rivers withdrew his martial aura, placing a hand on Silas back.

A golden light encased the palm, flowing into Silas body.

Previously, Silas expression was ashen, but after Uncle Rivers transmitted his martial energy into his body, his face became rosy.

"Thank you uncle" Silas eyes glowed with idolization and adoration.

His parents were covert op agents like his Uncle. However, they died on the battlefield when he was just six years old. Being the only relative he had, Uncle Rivers took him in, treating him like his own child.

Growing up, it was his greatest dream to be like his Uncle; a Deviant.

Unfortunately, that dream became a mere fantasy when his uncle revealed to him that he had zero talent or affinity to cultivate world energy.

"After that the student said that, I was very pissed off and had to challenge him. However, he beat me up real bad and jeered that all covert op agents are trash" Silas finished his lie.

"Tch!" Uncle Rivers clenched his teeth as his eyes became bloodshot.

"We Covert ops Agents risk our lives to battle threats that might endanger the life of society. Yet this is all the thanks we get?"

Uncle Rivers took a breath, trying his best to not lash out for fear of hurting his nephew.

"You said that ingrate is a student of KYC correct?"

"Yes Uncle" Silas did his best to contain the smile that was about to burst out.

"I want you to get me a picture of him"

"Uncle! you aren't thinking of killing him right?" Silas became truly horrified.

The reason he framed Oscar was to get his revenge due to the beating and humiliation he suffered from the former's hands.

He never would've expected that his uncle would take it so seriously.

 "Just do as I said!"
