Chapter 029

Dr. Bruno thought Oscar was a local ruffian who had sneaked his way into the hospital.

"Who did this to my mum!" Oscar grabbed the Doctor by the collar as he demanded with bloodshot eyes.

Dr. Bruno immediately realized Oscar!s identity.

"I Don't really know. She was rushed in here by the locals. But I Do know is that she needs urgent medical attention"

"Shit" Oscar knew the Doctor was right.

Scooping up his unconscious mother, he hurried into his car parked outside.

Opening the dashboard, he searched for the closest hospital. After narrowing down his targe, he started the ignition.

.

.

.

Caliwood Hospital was a renowned Hospital located in Forksville, a town, more developed than Choppersville.

"Emergency!" Oscar burst into the lobby of the hospital.

Very soon, three nurses wheeled Oscar's mum away.

Oscar cold only wait for good news as he sat down at the lobby area.

Ten minutes later, a male Doctor walked out from the Operation room, with a cresfallen expression.

Oscar's expression sank. Did something bad happen?

"Doctor. How is she?" he asked, visibly worried.

"We were able to keep her from harms way. But, I am afraid she won't be able to speak again"

As if sensing Oscar's confusion, the Doctor continued.

"Actually, the lethal damage wasn't the bullets or broken limbs. The patient has been exposed to a deadly gaseous toxin"

"The toxin has corroded some parts of the brain. The damage is the inability to speak. Sigh"

"Doctor, can't you treat her? I will be willing to pay any amount" Oscar pleaded.

 The Doctor sighed helplessly.

"I am afraid this situation is above my capabilities"

Oscar's nose twitched. Why did those words sound so familiar?

"Tch. Then what use is there for you in being a Doctor when you can't even heal your patients" Oscar felt frustrated.

The Doctor remained silent, unable to refute.

"Can I see her?" Oscar asked.

"Yes. She just got transferred to a Private Ward"

The Doctor showed Oscar the ward where his mother was kept, before he excused himself

There were other Patients who needed his attention.

When Oscar got in, he bit his lower lips as he gazed at his mother who lied unconsciously on the hospital bed.

Although he now knew that this lady wasn't his biological mother, the love and respect he felt for her didn't change.

She singlehandedly raised him up. The reason why she even went blind was because she took money from a loan shark and was unable to meet up with the payment deadline.

The loan shark mercilessly ordered his subordinates to beat her up.

The worst part was that the reason she borrowed the money was to cater for his feeding and accommodation in Straw City.

"I'm so ungrateful!" Oscar cussed himself.

Even after he obtained the system, he forgot about her, causing her to encounter another injury that could possibly rid her of her speech.

No! There had to be a way! He just couldn't let her continue to suffer.

-[Actually, there is a way to save her] Hunks suddenly said.

"Huh?" Oscar's eyes lit up with hope.

"What is it? tell me!"

-[If I am not mistaken, your mum was inflicted with a pink soul frozen poison]

"What's that?" Oscar felt the term to be foreign.

-[Although it's a paltry trick, it is a powerful poison to ordinary people. Once someone get's inflicted with it, the best case scenerio is the inabiliy to speak. The worse is becoming an idiot]

 Oscar gulped.

"You once said you know how to save my mum. Quit speaking in circles already"

-[Tsk. Tsk. There is a skill in the Shop that grants you the ability to treat such kind of ailment. The name is *DIVINE PHYSICIAN*]

Afraid that Hunks was toying with him, Oscar checked the *Shop*

Indeed, there existed such a skill.

-[SKILL INFO]

-Name: Divine Physician

-Levels: 18

-Price: 1k centi points.

-Intro: Gain the Abilities of a Divine Physician.

 "Divine Physician? Oscar wondered aloud.

-[This world is full of wonder. There exists a special kind of Deviants rumored to heal all kinds of sickness and even raise the dead.. they are known as Divine Physicians"

"Such people exists?" Oscar was shocked.

How come he never knew of this??

But come to think of it, it was only after he obtained the system that he learnt about the existence of Deviants.

Oscar swiftly purchased the skill. When he did, he felt a heavy headache followed by a stream of knowledge about medecines, how to brew them and the Herbs?

All in all, there were twelve medicine recipes. Luckily, the medicine necessary to counter the Pink Soul Poison was recorded inside.

However, the herbs needed to brew were many.

He had to gather them first before he could think of brewing medicine.

Asking a nurse for directions, Oscar arrived at the Doctor's office.

"It's you!" the Doctor looked up from the medical reports he was reading when he sensed a foreign presence.

"I want to discuss my mother's condition. I will be setting off and I don't know when I'll return. But in the meantime, I want you to treat her with the highest level treatment"

"Uhm.." the Doctor laughed.

"We treat our Patients equally. Plus, you haven't even paid your hospital bills" the Doctor frowned.

 "How much is your bill?"

"Heh. Ninety thousand" the Doctor teased, expecting Oscar to start bargaining.

Who would've expected that Oscar would calmly ask him for the hospital's bank account.

"Heh. Who are you acting so tough and mysterious for huh?" the Doctor sneered.

He didn't believe Oscar could pay such a sum. He looked no more than nineteen.

This couldn't be helped since due to staying in a town such as Forksville, all the youths he usually came across weren't that well off.

 Ping!

His phone vibrated. When he saw the credit alert, his soul almost left his body.

 O-One Million!

How! he just couldn't understand how someone so young could effortlessly fork out such a sum. If it was a pot bellied middle aged man, he could understand.

But a nineteen years old guy?!

 Vroom!

The sound of engine roaring snapped him out of his daze. Looking out through the window, he cought the sight of driving off in his expensive bentley.

What a beautiful car.

.

.

As Oscar handeled the wheels, he began to think of how he was going to purchase the herbs necessary to cure his mother.

The money wasn't the problem. The main issue was where to buy them.

At that moment, a call from Goldie came in, causing his eyes to lit up.

 "Hey"

"Why weren't you in campus today? I was worried that you might've given in to depression"

Oscar smiled when he sensed the genuine worry in the other party's voice.

"Awwn. You are still the only person who cares for me the most!"

"Pui! who cares for you" Goldie refuted with embarrassment, causing Oscar to chortle.

"Hmph! You still haven't answered my question!"

"About that. I won't be coming to Campus for a while. I have important matters to deal with"

Whether it was managing a company or searching for the herbs, they both consumed time. Plus, the reason why Oscar attended Campus in the first place was to graduate with a good degree and get a nice paying job.

Since he was now the world's richest man, he didn't have that zeal to attend Campus.

"What about the basketball team?" Goldie questioned.

"I Heard you are their new Shooting Guard"

"I'll attend practice. Right, there are some things I am searching for. I was hoping you could look around for me with your family background. Don't worry, I'll pay"

"Tsk. Why do you treat me like an outsider huh? what are you looking for anyways?"

Oscar hung up, sending a text to Goldie, containing the list of herbs he wanted.

He hoped she could find them all. After all, he was aware his influence couldn't be compared to her father's.
