Chapter 7

Marshall just laughed and took a drink of his soda.

“Hey,” said Sean after chewing up his last bite of sandwich. “Ruthie says you’re a landscaper.”

“Yeah.”

“Can I convince you to help me clean up my yard?”

“Well, sure,” said Marshall.

“I can’t pay you tons of money, but I really need it to look good. I’m having Wesley’s third birthday at my house and his mom’s family will be there. I can’t have it looking like an unsafe jungle.”

“It actually sounds fun,” said Marshall.

Sean quickly scrawled his address and phone number on an order sheet and scurried off when he saw Jillian returning. “I’m off this weekend,” he said. “The party’s on Sunday. Can you come by Saturday?”

Marshall looked at the paper then smiled up at Sean. “Sure I can.”

Jillian didn’t even make it all the way back to the men—she just stopped halfway up the aisle. “Come on, Marshall. We’re leaving! I’m wet, I’m sticky, and my cooter is frozen solid!”
