The Forest of Static

Ace's POV:

Hi, my name is Ace. I am here to tell you a tale of death, romance and drama. in a world where fantastical creatures exist like dragons and krakens. Let me start from when it all began, back when i was 10 years old.

I woke up in a forest, I don't know how I got here but I did... it was stormy and dark, and I was scared. I started walking to find an exit, to no prevail. So instead I headed to the large tree at the center of the forest. I've been here multiple times in my dreams... but this felt real. Maybe if I make it to the tree I would wake up like I normally do. Thunder boomed overhead, thank you Guatauva for making this scarier than it already is! I keep hearing noises and whispers, it's probably the paranoia but I can't shake the feeling I'm being followed.

I reached the tree and it was scorched, like I normally remember, but I wasn't waking up. My heart started to beat intensely in my chest and I started crying. After a while a large echo roared above me. I looked up to see a large, majestic creature flying towards me. It was a large grey and white bird with 10 pairs of wings, each glowing with lightning coming off them. Its piercing yellow eyes and beak gleaming in the moonlight. I thought this was it for me... but the bird landed gracefully and stared at me. It's eyes turned less hostile, and more caring... it was beautiful. It's beauty was unmatchable by nature. It dropped something from its beak in front of me. A katana, glowing blue and yellow. It gestured for me to pick it up so I did. A bright flash happened in front of me and the creature vanished.

I woke up again, to the sound of yelling. The organisation has always been chaotic, but today they were extra loud. After finding the Static Blade I got asked to join a group of assassins and fight for them. It sounded cool, so I joined. And now I am here. I walked out to see Alyssa and Corey arguing. Alyssa is beautiful, she has deep black hair and red eyes, her outfits normally consisted of black shirts, a choker and baggy jeans. Her spear was that of the mythical Kelpie, a Scottish water spirit that typically takes form of a horse. It is said to take delight in people drowning, which fits Alyssa's personality a lot. Corey on the other hand was a nice lad, always wearing suits, when I first met him I thought he was a Prince. His hair was a toxic purple colour with bright, green eyes. He weirded the whip of a Manticore, a large lion like creature with the wings of a dragon and tail of a scorpion. He wasn't like his creature though, he actually cared about people's feelings. Well, except Alyssa's.

"Will you two stop arguing?!" I shouted over them.

"Ace!" Alyssa yelled and pulled me towards them. "Tell Corey that Water is superior to Poison!"

I looked at Corey, he was standing there quietly. I've seem Corey and Alyssa fight, and despite how I feel about Alyssa I have to side with him. His Poison techniques are much better than her water techniques.

"Sorry Aly- I have to side with Corey on this one." I said and smiled. Corey smiled proudly.

"Oh- damn fuck you then." She pouted and turned away. Her pout was adorable.

Kirin walked in. She had pure white hair with pitch black eyes. Fairly beautiful lass with twin wolf teeth daggers. Kirin is the leader of our team. She may not look that strong, but she wields the souls of 2 very powerful beasts, Hati and Sköll. They are of Norse origins, the children of Fenrir. Whereas Hati chases the Sun, Sköll chases the moon. This gives Kirin the power of yin and yang. So yeah, incredibly powerful.

"You 3 get your shit together we have a mission." She said. I straightened up and nodded.

After briefing us we set of. The mission was to stop the destruction of Helluva, the city of the damned. And assassinate Credence, the owner of a powerful Mayan bat God.

"Oh shit!" Alyssa yelled. " I left my spear back home." Kirin rolled her eyes and looked at me.

"Take her to get her spear, but hurry up." I nodded and me and Alyssa set off.

We started walking through the forest of no return, which isn't as bad as it sounds. It's a very nice forest, but if you let it get to your head, it's unescapable.

"Sorry about this Ace, I didn't mean to get you dragged away from the mission." Wow, was she actually being sincere? That's a first. I shrug and smile. "Don't worry about it princess, it means I get some alone time with you!" I smiled. She smiled back but rolls her eyes.

"Ok Prince charming, Shut up." She said.

We arrive at her house, it was rather small, 3 bedrooms but was rather cozy. "You wait here." She said. I obliged and waited. Eventually she had been inside for about 2 hours, and I was getting worried. So I entered the house. Alyssa was looking around frantically. I tapped her shoulder. "Alyssa, you OK?" I asked.

"I can't find it, or Kuya anywhere." My face went pale. Kuya was Alyssa's brother, he was slightly older than us but didn't have anything supernatural about him like we do... so if he's in the forest, who knows what will have happened to him.

"Call Siren. She can track the spear, and hopefully your brother too." We walk outside, and she summoned Siren. A dark green horse with kelp hair and dead eyes, it was such an incredible sight. "I'll fly on Static and see if I can spot him from above." She nods and rides off on Siren.

I summoned Static and hopped on his back. "Follow the horse!" I yelled. The creature flew up and followed Alyssa...
