Chapter 86: If you're happy, then I'm happy

Hueningkai stole a glance at Yeonjun and then started eating again.

"Hahaha! I know right! If you stay with him, rather than disliking him, you would like him more and more. That's what my son is!" Hueningkai's mother said and laughed.

"Yeah! You're right! And that's what grew us apart! He was way too innocent! He trusted people easily. You know he got into serious danger because of this!" saying this far, Yeonjun stopped as he didn't tell his mom about it either. He bit his tongue because he realized he shouldn't have talked about it.

"What happened? Tell us!" Hueningkai's mother looked at him and asked curiously.

"Uh! It's nothing! You shouldn't be worried!" Yeonjun lowered his head and put some rice in his mouth.

"Yeonjun?" His mom looked at him with inquisitive eyes.

"Uh! I'm sorry, but I don't think I can tell you guys. It might be uncomfortable for him." Yeonjun tried to smile, but failed.

"It's okay. Tell'em. I'm not that uncomfortable about it anymore." Hueningkai said and finally looked at Yeonjun.

After hearing everything, Yeonjun's mom got a huge shock as she never knew about it.

"Why didn't any of you tell me about it? My poor child! You must've gone through a lot! I know you're a reticent boy, but this is not something to hide!" Yeonjun's mom hugged Hueningkai as she was feeling disheartened.

"I can't thank you enough! I thank every one of your friends and those who helped to rescue my son. I'm really grateful. As a mother, I couldn't fulfill any duties, but I still thank you guys for taking care of him so well. For making him a great person and sending him back. I know I couldn't be a good mother for any of my children. Moreover, I'm afraid I was unable to take care of him after he came back to me." She said with a saddened expression.

"Hey! Mom! Why're you saying that?" Hueningkai looked at his mother and was surprised.

"Because you became such a workaholic! You spend more time in the company rather than at home. Like your siblings! I couldn't take care of any of you!" she complained.

"Hahaha! If we don't work, how would we make you proud, hm?" Hueningkai smiled at his mom and found her funny.

"I'm proud that I have a son like you!" She said and looked at Yeonjun. She quite liked Yeonjun because of how gentle and pretty he was looking.

"Mrs. Choi! I won't beat around the bush anymore! Your son and my son, like each other and I hope you can accept them. We're lucky enough because they are asking for our permission first. Where would you get kids like them? They already exchanged hearts with each other, but were afraid to start a relationship. If we give them a chance, they can have their happiness. Don't you want your child to be happy? Give them a chance. I think this would be best for everyone." Hueningkai's mother said and smiled at her.

"Huh? W-what is going on! W-what are you saying? I-I don't understand!" Yeonjun was very surprised.

"Son! You said you wanted him as your wife when you were young, right? I'm afraid I can't give him to you as a wife, but would you like to have him as a husband? You know what I mean, right?" She held Yeonjun's hand and asked with full of hope.

"Ah! M-mom!" Yeonjun looked at his mother, but didn't get any reply from her.

"I need some time to adapt. They used to be like brothers." She said and looked at Hueningkai's father.

"That's it then! Cheers!" Hueningkai's mother raised a glass into the air to celebrate. All the Huening family also celebrated with her except for Kai. He got a little shy and lowered his head. Yeonjun also lowered his head, but was giggling silently as he felt very joyous and shy as well.

"Are you sure you wanna stay here?" Lea asked Kai.

"Hm. Just for tonight! I missed this home." Hueningkai said with a smile.

"I thought we all would need to step in, but mom handled everything alone." Bahiyyih said while putting her shoes on.

"Okay! We're off then! Take care of my son today as well!" Hueningkai's dad shook hands with Yeonjun's father and then he pulled Yeonjun and hugged him. Yeonjun was quite surprised by his sudden action. He got embarrassed and emotional. He bowed to show his respect and then looked at Hueningkai.

"That means he trusts you a lot." Hueningkai whispered. Yeonjun grinned at Hyuka as he finally could lighten the loads from his chest. After the guests left, Yeonjun's mother went to rinse the dishes. Hueningkai went to help her and took the bowl which she was washing from her.

"Let me!" He smiled.

"Huening-ah! Let's not think too much about it, okay? You never asked anything from me. This is the first time you're asking something from me. I was thinking about it today all the time. I finally came up with a decision. I won't be an obstacle in your relationship. You have the full right to love someone. Even if Yeonjun is my son, I'm willing to hand him to you. Please take great care of him. If I let you, you'd come to visit me often, right? Yeonjun also doesn't come to me nowadays. He says he's busy.

But as a mother I could understand there's something that was bothering him. And I had a hunch it was related to you. However, I was too scared to ask him about it. I knew I should be there for him. Say, what should I do? I don't know if what you guys want is right or wrong. I have no idea. All I can say is, just live your life as you wish. You shouldn't blame me when you get old. Nor should you regret your life choices because of me. I'm no one. You're the one you should prioritize. You should find your own happiness. I guess you won't regret the decision you took today, would you?" Yeonjun's mom stopped washing the dishes and looked at Kai, giving a smile though it was clear that she was trying to hide her tears by the smile.

"Don't worry, mom! I'm your son so is he, right? If you're happy then we're happy. We won't disappoint you. My sweet mom!" Yeonjun came and hugged her from behind. She pressed her cheek against Yeonjun's and smiled.

"Thank you! I'm also happy if you guys are happy." Yeonjun's mom said and then focused on what she was doing. Yeonjun put another hand around Hueningkai's waist and looked at him. Kai also looked at him and then both of them smiled at each other.

Yeonjun was reading a script when Hueningkai came inside. Seeing him, he put his tab aside and looked at him.

"H-hey!" Yeonjun felt a little shy and nervous.

"You're not asleep yet?" Hueningkai asked and smiled.

"No, I had to review some scripts for tomorrow's interview." Yeonjun said with a low voice.

"Ah! Then… continue what you were doing! I was here to grab a pillow." Hueningkai came towards the bed while saying.

"Where would you sleep?" Yeonjun asked curiously.

"I'll hit the couch I guess." Hueningkai smiled.

"No! Come here! There's a lot of space here." Yeonjun showed the blank spaces on the bed and said.

"Umm…okay." Hueningkai hesitated a bit, but sat beside Yeonjun.

"Just think of me as your brother for another day." Yeonjun said and smirked at Kai.

"I don't wanna though." Hueningkai put his hand on Yeonjun's and winked at him.

"Whoa! Look how flirty you became, you punk!" Yeonjun giggled and tried to cover his face with his hand.

"I learned to use them on you." Hueningkai said and moved the hand from Yeonjun's face. He held Kai's hand and kissed it while smiling. Hueningkai took his hand in front of himself and pecked at the place Yeonjun just kissed.

"Hahaha! You little…" Yeonjun laughed shyly and looked at him. I'm really happy today! I didn't ever think this would happen for real. I've always blamed myself for having these feelings towards you. I really thought I'm a monster. You were like a brother t…" Yeonjun tried to say many more things, but Hueningkai pressed his lips with his hand.

"Shhh. I'm not your brother. I always wondered why I was different from Chois. I got my answer five years ago. Then, I thought it'd be best if I left with my tribe. But, after leaving, I always think about you. I wondered, was it because I thought of you as were my brother? While searching for an answer, I took help from my sisters. They make me realize that I don't like you as a brother. I like you for who you are. I like you as my dearest. I know this won't be acceptable that easily for anyone. Still, I chose to tell her before taking an action or reply to you. That's why I remained silent this morning. I'm sorry I couldn't give you an immediate answer. Rather than answering, I'm asking you now, would you like to give me a chance? As your partner? I'll be the one who'll keep you happy. I'll do everything I need to keep you cheerful and by my side. Would you?" Hueningkai looked at Yeonjun and grinned.

"Um!" Yeonjun nodded smilingly. He was tearing up so he looked at another way to avoid Kai's eyes. Hueningkai held his cheeks and made him look at himself.

"Tears don't suit these eyes." He wiped Yeonjun's face and kissed his forehead.
