Chapter 77: Beginning of the misunderstandings

Soobin opened his eyes slowly. His vision was blurry as he could just open his eyes. He tried to move his body, but he couldn't. He could feel his body was hurting everywhere. Especially his head. His heart rate increased and after a few moments, his vision got clearer. His dad was standing beside him and when he noticed Soobin opening his eyes, he rushed to him.

"Soobin-ah! Can you hear me? Someone please call the doctor! Hey! Yang! Go and call the doctor or nurse! He woke up!" Soobin's dad was happy as he was worried about his son for the last week. Soobin tried to say something. Unfortunately, no voice came out from his throat and he could just look at his dad. How worrisome he looked! Did he lose more weight? Soobin wondered. The oxygen pipe suddenly started itching under his nose and he really wanted to scratch it. He put his hand near his nose to scratch it. Only then, he realized, he could move his hand.

"H-how are you feeling? Is it hurting a lot? My son! I should've stayed with you! I shouldn't have left you that day! It's all my fault. Can you hear me?" Cha Won was a bit loud as he thought Soobin couldn't hear him clearly.

"Why're you being so loud?" Soobin asked with his broken and low voice.

"Hm? What did you say?" His father couldn't hear him clearly as his voice was a bit too low.

"I said, don't shout." Soobin replied and smiled at his father though it was hard to smile.

"Ah! Yes! Yes! I won't talk loudly!" He replied exuberantly.

"I'll go and get the doctor, hm?" He went outside in a rush.

[Two days later]

Soobin was sitting on the hospital bed. He was reading a magazine though he was just flipping the page as he was bored. His forehead, left arm and leg were wrapped with bandages. Though his head was still hurting, he wanted to stand up and take a stroll. But nobody allowed him to leave his bed. He knew he wouldn't be able to walk since his left leg was injured heavily and the doctor said it'd take a while to heal. Still, he was so bored that he wanted to just run away even if it'd hurt him.

"Hey! How's it going? I heard someone beat you into a pulp, was that true?" Ki Bum came inside with a basket of fruit while asking.

"Oh, hyung? Why're you here? And how did you know?" Soobin put the magazine aside and looked at him smilingly.

"Of course I came to see you! And if I don't know then who would?" He made a face on Soobin and came towards him. He put the basket aside and sat beside him.

"Why didn't you tell me you had so much on your plate, you punk?" he acted as if he was mad at Soobin, but he wasn't.

"I'm sorry." Soobin grinned.

"When will you come back? Without you there, my sales are going down!" He pouted while saying.

"Hyung! I've meant to say something to you…" Soobin looked another way as he was feeling a bit awkward right at that moment.

"Hm?" Ki looked at him and asked.

"Uh! Can you…um….. recruit someone for your shop? I think I can no longer work in your shop." Soobin hesitated a little before saying.

"Why?" Ki Bum was surprised.

"Oh…the thing is…my dad won't let me." Soobin mumbled as he was feeling embarrassed to say that.

"Whaaaat? You f**er! You made up with your father?" Ki was happy though it was hard for him to believe.

"Yeah!" Soobin nodded and smiled.

"That's a relief! But you're my employee! Even if he's your father doesn't mean he can snatch you! You need to come back! I won't recruit! It'd cost too much!" Ki assured Soobin that he wasn't gonna give his place to someone else.

"Then, did you know what happened to him? I mean, did you get your answer?" He asked curiously.

"Hm?" Soobin was confused as he couldn't understand it at first.

"About your Jin…" Ki asked.

"Hm. It was dad! He wasn't the one who killed him so I couldn't blame him fully." Soobin sighed.

"He told you? It wasn't him? Then who was it? And how could you forgive him? You said, he killed him in front of you!" Ki asked surprisingly.

"Um-hm! I couldn't forgive him at first. But when I looked into it, it wasn't his fault completely. Jin hyung…..he didn't like me at all. He was a spy. He made me a bait just to bring my dad down. The day my dad caught him red handed, he had nothing to cover his guilt. But I didn't know about it at that time. I asked them what they were talking about, but none of them were willing to say anything to me. Actually he was the one selling information about dad's pursuit. He came to me as a tutor willingly to get all of the information he wanted. He knew I was the biggest weakness of dad and he informed it and our territory to dad's enemy. The day dad shot him, he didn't die. Rather, he had been admitted to the hospital and was under dad's observation. But after two days , he disappeared from the hospital and dad had no clue where he went or who took him away. If he's still alive or he's really dead....

And I thought dad killed him because I liked him. I got him wrong. So, what would I do instead of forgiving him? And who would've thought Jin hyung would…." Soobin sighed. Ki nodded and patted Soobin's arm since he didn't have anything to say anymore.

At that time, Cha Won entered. He was looking exhausted though cool in his suit. He just got off work and came to the hospital straight away. He was very tired as he couldn't sleep at all.

"How're you feeling today?" He came to Soobin and took a good look at Ki Bum who was sitting beside him. He tried to judge him as he had never seen this person before.

"Dad! I'm very bored! Can I go back home? Please?" Soobin threw a pitiful gaze upon his dad. But his dad didn't buy it since the doctor told him Soobin needed to stay at the hospital for at least another week.

"Hello!" Ki greeted Cha Won nervously.

"Hi!" Greeting him, Soobin's dad looked at Soobin and said,

"You have a visitor already!"

"But you need to get well completely! Or else, you can't go home!" He said a bit harshly.

"I'll get going now, okay? Take care of yourself and call me." Ki Bum stood up and said these in a low voice, he went outside.

"Why're you so bored? Where's your loved one?" Soobin's dad tried to tease him, but failed after seeing Soobin's reaction.

"After I woke up, he didn't even come to meet me." Soobin said with a hurtful face.

"Ah! He must be busy! Or else he'd definitely come! I'm sure he's busy because he was beside you 24/7 when you were in a coma." Cha Won said and took some fruits out from the basket which Ki Bum put on the table a while ago.

"I hope so." Soobin sighed again.

"Want me to peel some apples for you?" Cha Won asked. Soobin nodded as he wanted some.

"Son! You know, Jackson…I knew him. He wasn't a bad kid. But after he lost the love of his life, he became crazy. He was longing for revenge for all these times. But do you even know what makes him think that you were the reason behind his lover's death?" Cha Won asked while peeling an apple.

"I have no idea, dad! But who was his lover? And what connection do I have with him?" Soobin wondered.

"It was nearly five years ago. They were going to "K" to make an agreement. But on the way their car bursted and except for him, all the other people died. He said he saw you on the spot. You went to make sure if they were dead or not. Was it true? Why would you go near a car which had a blast?" Soobin's dad asked while putting the apple in front of Soobin. Soobin took the apple and remembered. Now he could connect the dots very well.

"Dad! There's a huge misunderstanding! I might know what happened!" Soobin was in a daze while saying.

"Hm?" Cha Won was confused.

"I… um… do you remember the first time Mr. K told you to send me to him and you refused? He stole so many people from you that time, right? And said he'd release all of them if you send me to him, right?" Soobin replied.

"Hm. I remember. So?"

"The thing is…I went to him without informing you." Soobin replied with a guilty face.

"What?" Cha Won was astonished.

"Yes. I'm sorry but I didn't mean to overheard your conversation. I thought if he'd really release all of them, then I should just go and take a look. I was very confident so I didn't think about it too much." Soobin replied in a serious way.

"That's why! I was perplexed when he said that you know him from before!" He sighed and took a bite from the apple.

"Yeah! I appeared in front of him. He thought you were pulling some tricks as he knew you sent someone else to him. So he just locked me in a room. There I heard the gatekeepers talking with each other and from them, I heard about his plan. Those guards weren't serious at all. So, I could easily escape and follow a car. I should've called you, but you know I was quite stubborn and didn't want to get help from you back then.
