Chapter 29: How to be happy

"Winter! Run! Run and never come back! I'll hold them! You just run!" Karina was shouting. She was on the grip of a group of thugs and falling on the floor. It was clear that she tried her best to fight but the thugs were too strong for her and at last she had to stop as she had no strength left in her body. But she was trying her best to help her friend to escape the hell.

"B-but!" Winter looked back as she was hesitating if she should go help her or just run from there.

"P-Please! JUST GO! Please!" she shouted again. Her eyes were dry but the waterfall began again as those guys started to beat her up again.

"I-I'll c-come back with help. Just hang in there!" She ran from there while crying as she knew she can't help her because she was too weak and if she went to help her, she'll be caught too and no one would come to help either of them.

"It's the punishment since you didn't behave!" The voice of the goons were getting heavier and heavier though Winter was running with her top speed.

"It's you! You are the one to blame! She would've survived if you were strong enough! You need to pay for her life now! You didn't come back on time! It was all you! She wouldn't have faced the thugs if it wasn't for you!" a voice was chasing after Winter as she was running and running without stopping. But she came to an edge and there was nothing but water. She was standing on a hill in the middle of the water. There was no place to go now. Neither she can go back or can move forward. She was stuck on the hill but the voice was still chasing her and coming closer and closer.

Beomgyu sat down immediately after woke up. He found himself full wet by his sweat and tears. He was panting heavily as if he was the one running instead of that girl. He hit his chest some times as it was difficult to breath.

After trying hard all night, Beomgyu fell asleep when it was nearly sunrise. He was thinking about Yeonjun and his critical situation. How can he....But it wasn't his fault either. Humans can't control their emotions. That's the main problem of Yeonjun. And he fell for his brother too deeply without noticing that he can't pull back it anymore.

But he couldn't sleep for more since he had the dream and woke up. He tried to calm himself down but his heart wasn't calming down. It felt like something was stuck on his chest but no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't get rid of it. He noticed the sun started to rise already. He left his bed and came to his window to see the sunrise. But it couldn't be seen as there were too many tall buildings around there. He was disappointed and went back to his bed again and to be assured of the time, he took his phone from the table but instead of looking at the time, he saw there were some new messages. He was confused and also curious at the same time as he couldn't guess who sent him the texts. He clicked on the text and saw it was from Soobin.

Soobin sent the texts to Beomgyu before going to bed but Beomgyu put his phone away from him so he didn't notice.

"What's up with him? Why he is acting strange! Wasn't he the one who said he hates me? So, this is how you treat the person you hate! Then, maybe I'm lucky that you hate me!" Beomgyu smiled while talking with himself.

"Is he sleeping right now? I wonder how he looks like while sleeping? I'm sure he'd be even cuter." Beomgyu thought while smiling sweetly. He forgot all his other thoughts right after getting Soobin's texts and lost in his(Soobin's) thoughts. He had no idea what he was doing and where his heart was leading him to.

"Okay, I'll come before you start waiting for me :)" Beomgyu replied Soobin's text.

[Earlier at Soobin's store]

Soobin was busy checking the daily purchase and sales on the computer. He was alone in the store. That time a lady and a small girl came inside the store. As he was the only worker there, he had to deal with the customers alone. So, he stood up and bowed while welcoming his customer without taking a look. But when he looked at them, he noticed it was that lady whom they met some days ago in the hospital.

"Ah! It's you! Hello!" Soobin greeted the lady.

"Hello! I saw you from outside and recognized you. So, is this where you work?" the lady took a look carefully around and scanned the store with her eyes completely with a big smile.

"Y-Yeah!" Soobin became embarrassed all of a sudden.

"Where is that young master? How is he now?" the lady asked. Right after she asked, Soobin understood whom she was referring to.

"He's probably at home?" since Soobin didn't know about Beomgyu's whereabouts, he couldn't answer the lady correctly.

"Eh? You don't know?" The lady was surprised.

"Ah!.....Should I know?" Soobin laughed out of embarrassment.

"You mentioned that you are his family so I thought you know. Don't get me wrong. I was just curious. Moreover, he was so cute that I asked about him out of blue." The lady started to laugh as she was feeling awkward.

"Ah! how can I help you by the way?" Soobin became professional since he tried to change the topic.

"Ah! Yes, she wants some ramen so I came to get some of them." the lady replied and then Soobin led her to the corner where all the noodles were kept. The lady was picking her favourites but Soobin saw the little girl go to the cash counter and try to sneak inside.

"Hey! You can't go there!" Soobin grabbed the child and pulled her back gently.

"B-but! That Ajussi is calling me!" the girl insisted. Soobin was surprised as there was nobody else in the store but he suddenly remembered the spirit which the girl mentioned earlier.

"T-That g-g-guy?" Soobin looked at the cash counter and found it empty.

"Hm. The handsome Ajussi! He's looking very lonely. He wanted to talk with me." the girl replied.

"Okay, talk with him as much as you want. But you can't go further." Soobin mentioned the table which he always uses for billing the products. The girl was busy talking with the invisible man while Soobin kept hearing the girl. He was sure that this girl could see his Jin hyung. Maybe he was always there with him. But it was Soobin who couldn't see him, nor can talk with him.

He heard the girl talking about the funeral. Then Soobin realized it was true that he never had a funeral after his death. Maybe that's why his spirit is still wandering around and he hasn't become an evil spirit since he loves to watch Soobin all the time. Soobin felt happy for a while but then again he realized he needed to find his body and held a funeral as soon as possible. Soobin sighed while thinking and didn't even notice that the lady was done with her shopping and she came to pay the bill.

"Excuse me!" the lady called Soobin.

"Ah! Yes!" Soobin started working as soon as he came back to his senses.

"Stop! Why did you start again?" the lady held her child's hand to stop her but the girl still wanted to talk with her Ajussi.

"Oppa!" the girl called Soobin all of a sudden. Soobin was surprised and looked at the girl.

"Hm?" he replied.

"Don't listen to her. She'll talk rubbish." the lady stopped him.

"It's okay! She's just a child." Soobin was also curious to know what she wanted to say.

"He said you have to smile as much as possible. If he sees you smiling every day, then he can leave in peace. Otherwise he will be sad and can't have a happy ending." the girl said cutely but her words felt more sweeter than before and Soobin nearly cried. He controlled himself and answered, "I'll keep that in mind!" he smiled.

After the mom and daughter left, Soobin gave it a thought about what the girl said to him. He felt she wasn't lying at all. Maybe she really has the power to see the spirits who need help. But what she said earlier, Would it really be okay if he tried to be happy? If so, how? He couldn't find it. Suddenly he remembered it's almost a week since Beomgyu took his first therapy. And he has to take his second therapy the next day. He took out his phone and texted him. While typing, he typed so many words but right after he deleted them as he was confused about what he was doing and what he was trying to say to Beomgyu. Now that he thought about it, he knew how he could be happy even though he didn't want to repeat the history again.
