Chapter 16: The ghost beside me

Beomgyu and Soobin came to Namjoon's chamber. Namjoon was talking with his other patients so both of them had to wait till he released the patient. Soobin and Beomgyu were sitting on a bench outside of the chamber. Soobin was wearing a sky blue colored shirt with jeans and his long sleeves were folded which gave him a cool vibe.

On the other side, Beomgyu was wearing a black colored tshirts and jeans. Beomgyu was in a bit of tension. He was rubbing his hands on his thighs while patting on the floor. Seeing him like this, Soobin put his hand on Beomgyu's hand to calm him down. Beomgyu looked at Soobin and stopped patting on the floor. He felt relaxed when he remembered that he wasn't alone. He had someone with him who could console him. He put a smile on his face while looking at Soobin. Soobin also smiled at him gently and then tried to peek inside as he couldn't assume how much time the patient was gonna take more.

It was a long hallway and there were many rooms. All of them were psychology rooms because it was a psychological ward. There weren't so many people but a few were waiting for their turns. A little girl was also there with her mom but it couldn't be understood who was the actual patient.

The mom was sitting on the bench leaning her head on the wall. But the girl looks calm and cheerful. She was sitting on the bench hanging her both legs on the bench as her height wasn't enough to touch the floor. She was looking here and there swinging her legs while sucking a small lollipop. Suddenly she stopped swinging her legs when she looked at Soobin and Beomgyu. She barely managed to come down from the bench and ran to them.

"Ajussi! Are you sick too?" she asked Beomgyu.

"Eh?" Beomgyu wasn't prepared for the question so he was confused about how he should answer.

"A little. But he'll be fine." Soobin smiled and replied to the girl. Since the girl was looking cheerful, none of them assumed that she was a patient too.

"Did you come with your parents?" Soobin tried to touch the girl but it seemed like she was afraid of Soobin. She looked beside Soobin and then looked at the floor. Soobin also looked beside him as it looked like someone was telling something to the girl. But there was nobody beside him so he was confused about what the little girl was trying to do.

"Ajussi(uncle)! Why you're standing here like this? Didn't he let you sit beside him? Hm? What did you say? Because he is with someone else? And you're jealous? Why? All of you can stay together, right? Like me, my mom and my dad are staying together!" the girl smiled and kept talking looking up even though there was nobody. Soobin and Beomgyu were shocked and kept trying to look if there was someone beside them.

"W-who a-are you talking w-with?" Beomgyu asked as he couldn't understand.

"That Ajussi! Beside this oppa(big brother)." the girl pointed at a blank space and said. Both of them tried to look but they couldn't see anything or anyone. That time the girl's mother came to them and held her arm.

"Ah! I'm sorry! I'm sorry for the trouble! She must've said something weird to you guys, right? I'm really really sorry!" The lady bowed to them again and again. It was very clear in her face that she was going through a lot. She was too worried for her little girl.

"Ah! No! It's nothing! I can understand." Soobin stood up and bowed a little to the lady.

"But, why do you bring her here? She seems fine to me." Beomgyu asked out of curiosity as he couldn't understand what the girl was referring to a while ago.

"To be honest..." the lady looked around to check if someone was watching them or not. But she was eager to tell them the truth as they looked honest and reliable. Moreover, she would like to share her own burdens with someone so that she herself can feel light. Both of them went aside so that the lady could sit beside them. She took the seat and held her daughter and made her sit on her.

"She kept saying that she can see ghosts." the lady said with a very worried face.

"Eh?" Beomgyu was astonished and looked around to check if there was someone or something.

"Ei! There's nothing like ghosts." Soobin said as he didn't believe her at first.

"I know. But since her father died, she kept saying that she can see him and he always stays with us. But nowadays, she kept talking to herself as she said she saw some strangers and talked with them. I don't know what I should do with her(sighed). One of my friends suggested that I take her here. They are the best psychiatrists in the world. So I brought her here but I don't know if she'd be alright or not." the lady sighed again. The girl kept sucking her lollipop and looked beside Soobin.

"Don't worry, if it's her sickness, I'm sure she'll be okay. You need to pretend that you believe her. Don't rush on her and....." Beomgyu was going to say more but Soobin stopped him.

"Hey! You're not a doctor! How can you suggest someone without knowing what she's going through!" Soobin whispered while grabbing Beomgyu's thigh.

"Ajussi is calling me. Can I go and chat with him, please?" the girl asked her mom and looked into her eyes with a pitiful look.

"Ah! Stop! Why..." the lady was going to be rude to the girl but Beomgyu stopped her and gestured with his eyes that she should let her do what she wanted. So the lady let her daughter go and sighed.

The girl went beside Soobin and looked up.

"Ajussi! Why you kept calling me?" she asked with a cute tone.

"Hm? I need to inform him that you're okay? Why? Is he important to you? Oh! Can I trust him? And I need to tell him that he should move on? He has to be happy and accept his real self?" The girl kept talking with the invisible guy. All of them looked at the girl being so cute while talking with a so-called ghost.

"Oppa!" Suddenly the girl came to Soobin and poked his arm.

"Hm?" Soobin gave her a very gentle look and asked.

"That Ajussi is telling me to inform you that he's okay and he's happy. He's in a very nice place. So, you don't need to worry and you have to move on. You must be happy in your life because if you're happy, then he'll be happy too." the girl said as if she was reciting a poem.

"That Ajussi?" Soobin was confused but worried at the same time. Beomgyu pinched Soobin's arm and gestured to tell the girl that he believed her. Soobin was worried as he thought the girl was telling the truth.

"Okay. Tell him that I'll be happy. I'll lead a very happy and good life." Soobin nearly became emotional.

"See? He told you that he'll be happy. You can go now." the girl smiled at the "Ajussi" and waved her hands towards him to tell him that he could leave now.

"Is he still here?" Soobin controlled himself and asked the girl.

"No, he went away." the girl replied.

"Ah!" he looked at the ground as if he was very disappointed.

"Ms! Can I have your number so that I can chat with her from time to time?" Soobin stood up and asked the lady.

"Yes, of course. Please call whenever you feel like talking." The lady shared her number with Soobin but before Soobin checked the number if it was correct or not, the patient from inside came out and the nurse too.

"Who is Beomgyu here? You can go inside." the girl with the nurse costume said.

"It's me!" Beomgyu put his hand in the air and stood up.

"Please get inside." Saying this she was going to follow the other patient but Soobin stopped her.

"Can I go inside too?" Soobin asked.

"Are you his family?" the nurse asked.

"Yes. I'm his family." Soobin. smiled weirdly and said. Beomgyu was surprised by his answer and looked at Soobin but pretended like he was telling the truth.

"Then you may go inside too." saying this the nurse followed the other patient who just came out of the room.
