The Book of Loki(Discontinued)

In a space that lesser beings could only perceive as darkness, there were several books on podiums and a new one had appeared. In an instant, a dark figure appeared and looked upon the book, instantly perceiving it. "Gather around all who can hear for a fantastical tale is to be revealed!" the dark figure boomed As he said that, many dark figures similar to him appeared before one of them said; "Oh, great one. What is this tale that even you shall call it fantastical?" "This tale is about a young boy not of that world reborn into one of its many gods. His adventures, his relationships, and much more will be told in this tale. This tale that I shall call "The Book of Loki" is going to be one you love my children and remember, the language of lesser beings is quite different compared to ours, so make sure to listen and translate it properly." "Oh, look, look it's about to start." one of the younger-looking dark figures said After they said that, everyone turned their eyes to the book as a small projection began to play as words appeared on the page. There will be some added concepts or characters from other fiction that will work themselves into the story. There will be a harem, but it's a small one with only three wives. If you're a Norse mythology fan, you'd know two of them. I'll try to post once a week This is posted on Webnovel (No images are mine)

Angrboða

Up in Asgard, Loki's first wife; Angrboda lives in Galdrsalr, one of the many halls of Flærdvangr. She is the mother of the Þrír Hörmungar, a witch, and the queen of the Moldþursar. It is said that she and Loki had met on the day the Father of Serpents became an adult, and they were both enamoured with each other at first sight and the King of Lies became her saviour. — Lokasaga, Prose Edda.

(5 hours before the Name-day Celebration)

(Angrboda POV)

"Mother, Do I have to go to this celebration?" I asked.

"Yes dear, as royals, we have to attend." My mother responded.

"But mother, I've heard that the Hrímþursar royal family are vain and heartless, especially the crown prince."

"Hush! Child." As she said that, she slapped me, leaving a red mark. "Don't forget the Hrímþursar are the very first of the jötnar and are more powerful than us. You can never know when they're watching, and you are going. This is final."

"Sorry, Mother. I'll go prepare."

I walked away quickly, trying and failing to stop the tears from streaking across my face. I quickly found myself in my room and shut the door and sat down, leaning against it, trying to wipe my tears. This wasn't the first time, and this is natural. I'm a mistake, so why am I crying?

Why?

Why?

Whyyyyy?

I wanted to scream but couldn't knowing that if I did, it would only get worse. I sat there for a while before I stopped crying and started to prepare myself for this accursed celebration. I went into my closet and took out the most beautiful dress I had and put on makeup as well as other things needed.

Knock!

Knock!

"It's time to go, you useless mistök."

My Father the worst creature on Niflheim, the bane of my existence, was at my door calling me to go. I looked in the mirror and everything was perfect. That's what I had to be to slightly please my parents. I stepped out my door, finding no one there, but I heard steps going down the stairs. Likewise, I started to make my way to the stairs before going down it and to the front door. Opening the door, the sunlight blinded me as always. I wish I could go back to the darkness willingly this time. When my eyes could finally bear the light, I saw in front of me the carriage. I began to walk towards it, and before I could even begin to enter, my father grabbed me and dragged me in.

We had finally reached the Frost Palace. I was shivering the moment we reached Hrímþursar Territory. I could have cast a spell and made myself warmer, but my parents didn't even know I could do magic or that I was so good at it and this secret wouldn't reach them until I'm dead. My mother had insulted the way I looked, acted, and dressed the entire ride. I had tuned her out but also acted like I was hanging off of every word.

As I got out of the carriage, I felt how big the entire castle was, the drawings I had seen of it never truly captured how big the castle actually is. My parents didn't even blink before going towards the front door and I hurried towards them lest they be mad. We joined the line in front of the door and had to wait a few minutes before it was our turn to enter. I prepared myself as they announced our entrance;

"King of the Moldþursar; Ulf, son of Ulvr and his wife and daughter; Astryd, daughter of Birger and Angrboda, daughter of Ulf!"

After they said that we entered one by one with my father going first and me last. As I entered, I started to look around the place, and it was beautiful, to say the least. As I looked upstairs, I saw the crown prince; Loki Laufeyson staring at me and I stared right back.

He's so handsome. My cheeks felt hot, and I felt embarrassed. I wanted to look away, yet my eyes didn't listen as if this unfathomable being enamoured them. That was the only way I could describe him. He was the best thing I'd ever seen in my entire life. I used all of my willpower and raised my hand to wave it. He smiled and waved back before walking away with his eyes still on me. As I turned back to face my parents, I saw they were smiling and talking to each other about what had just happened and the smile on my face disappeared.

We went towards the table designated for us and sat down. Before I could even get comfortable in the seat, my father began to whisper;

"It appears that Loki is enamoured with you and that is a good thing. Remember what we taught you."

"Yes, I remember. I'm only useful for one thing, to find a potential suitor and make you guys rich."

"Exactly, and you have the heir of the richest jötnar family falling in love with you, so make sure to make good use of that. Understand?"

....

"Do you understand?" he said with an edge in his voice

"Yes, father, I understand."

I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of an answer, but I had to, or I'd be in a lot of pain the moment I reached home. As the conversation finished, a servant came with the meals we'll be getting for today. As the plate was placed in front of me, I glanced around the area and saw many of the nobles of my father's kingdom and some Fjallþursar nobles around us. There was a massive stairway in the centre of the room with the most elegant table I'd ever seen in front of it. It was obviously for the hosts, oh I wonder where Loki would sit, so I can admire his handsomeness and I began to daydream of Loki while eating my food. Scaring me out of my imagination, the servants declared the entrance of the Hrímþursar royal family.

"Queen of the Hrímþursar, Laufey, daughter of Hvegmir and her husband and sons; Farbauti, son of Farbauti, Býleistr, son of Farbauti, Helblindi, son of Laufey, and finally, Loki, son of Laufey, the crown prince of the Hrímþursar!"

As the servant called each name, they stepped down the stairs and when it was Loki's turn, a wall of flames appeared, and as he stepped through them, they transformed into a crown. It looked like a beta version of his mother's crown, and a piece of the fire became an eagle with a note in its talons. The eagle circled each table before it reached ours, and it landed right in front of me, stretching out one of its talons to give me the note. I was a bit hesitant considering it was fire, but I looked towards Loki and he gave me a brief nod seeing that I decided to take the note. The eagle flew up and disappeared in a beautiful explosion. I began to read the note and with each sentence, my smile was growing wider and wider and my cheeks hotter and hotter. I stood up and shouted;

"Yes, I'd love to!"

As I realized what I did, I hurriedly sat down and hid my face, only slightly peeking at Loki who was laughing before he said in 30 minutes we'll go.

Yes!

Yes!

YESSSSS!

---------------

1. Galdrsalr and Flærdvangr- In the Norse myths that we have Loki never has a hall or a field in Asgard that is his so I decided to make my own based on his divinities and what he's known for. Galdrsalr is just a mixture of two words; Galdr is Old Norse for magic and Salr is Old Norse for hall. I combined those two words to form the 'hall of magic' and this is but one hall in Flærdvangr. Speaking of that Flærdvangr is the same as Galdrsalr; Flærd is Old Norse for deceit and Vangr is Old Norse for field, meadow, and plain. These two words establish the 'field of deceit'.

2. Þrír Hörmungar- We all know the three monsters; Jörmungandr, Fenrir and Hel. With the way the story is formulating in my mind, I don't want them to be called just monsters so I came up with a cool name for them. Þrír Hörmungar; Þrír is three in old Norse and Hörmungar is calamities in Icelandic so the Three Calamities.

3. Moldþursar- To my knowledge, there are only two specifications for the jötnar when it comes to their element in Norse mythology; frost and fire but in the Riordan verse there are several types of jötnar. I decided to just switch the elements Hrím for Mold (Old Norse for earth, dirt, soil) or Fjall (Old Norse for mountain).

Loki's Royal clothing and crown are in character images.
