Aiden woke up crying.
The birds chirped outside, and the gentle sunlight shone from the gap between the curtains.
Aiden rolled to his side, and found that the spot next to him was empty.
Ryan was gone.
The redhead vampire sat on the bed, in a daze from remembering almost twenty years of his human life in a single night. His head throbbed painfully, almost as if the memories took form and each tried to escape his skull.
Aiden drew his legs to his chest and burrowed his face into his knees. At the same time, he pressed both hands against the sides of his head. It felt as if his head might just roll off his neck if he was not holding onto it.
Someone knocked at the bedroom door, and then the butler entered with a tray. On top of it was a glass of fresh blood.
