Aiden did not answer Ryan's call, but he did answer Angela's.
Angela did not have much to report to Ryan. All she had to say was that Aiden did not want to talk to Ryan, so it would be better if Ryan left him alone for now.
"No," Ryan said in defiance. "I need to talk to him."
For once, Angela held her head high and defied her boss.
"Mr. Caldwell Jr.," she said with a sharp tone, "please be considerate of Aiden's feelings. He needs time to process everything."
Angela's words made Ryan roar in anger. Frustrated with the ugly circumstance that he was stuck in, the vampire punched against a wall in his office, creating a small crater there.
Angela pulled her lips into a tight smile. Another job for poor Harriet.
"The birthday dinner is still on," Angela said to comfort the distraught Prince of Vampires. "Give him a little time to deal with it on his own."
"Deal with what, exactly?" Ryan asked.
