Aiden arched his eyebrow at Godfrey.
"I am not good with pregnant ladies and babies," he told his friend straightforwardly.
"Don't say that," Godfrey squeezed his friend's hand. "You are the only one I can trust with so many beasts lurking around..."
"... What beasts?"
Godfrey lowered his voice into a whisper.
"You might not believe me, but there have been a few mysterious deaths in some villages away from here. People suspect wild beasts, but we all heard that the victims did not have a single drop of blood left in their bodies."
"..."
"Scary, isn't it? Anyway, look at how much firewood I have in the storage. I also put some inside the house. If these beasts come knocking at the door, just burn them to death."
"..."
If only Godfrey knew that his good friend was also such a beast, he might think twice about handing over his pregnant wife to him.
"Okay," Aiden heard himself agreeing to Godfrey's request. "I need to do something first, why don't I come back to you later?"
