I need to run away before they notice I am awake. No, I could deal with them. I could feel the adrenaline rush running through my veins. Where was this unknown courage coming from?

I sprinted across the room towards where the back door stood. I stood behind the door, waiting patiently. Luckily they didn't notice me moving around. I could feel my heart thumping against my chest anxious about the risk I was taking. This wasn't like me.

They were right there just outside the door tip-toeing in silence. The crickets creaking away in the night added to the tension rising in the room. I couldn't help but think about the conversation they had a while ago.

'no one would notice anything that happened in the outskirts.'

Of course, it was deserted and unsafe. You are likely to die from a rogue attack or killed by trespassing bears. The words started to weigh on my mind the more I thought about them. They were two mature werewolves outside my hut. And u happened to be I didn't plan to kill them, just give them a little scare so they would buzz off. But what if I was the one who gets killed? What if I die?

The courage dropped like a bombshell inside me. Replaced with the familiar fear I always knew. Why did I think I had a chance in the first place? I looked to the front door only thinking of my escape. I could make it to the door. The back door pushed open, startling me, I made eye contact with the person who had barged in.

"Damn it! she's awake" he cursed trying to force the door open and get to me. I pushed back against the door only able to lock it.

They pounded harshly on the door, I stepped back, watching as they struggled to force their way in.

The door wasn't going to hold them back. I picked up a knife rushing to the front door. I unlocked it only to come face to face with the second man. He pushed me back in and I fell to the floorboard. My hands trembled as I raised the knife at him. He walked slowly, accessing me on the floor.

"S-Stay back" I stuttered moving away from him. I didn't recognise him.

Just then the door at the back broke down.

"Did you get her?" the other one who came through the back answered.

"Yeah she ain't going anywhere," he said in a deep voice inching closer to where I sat.

He bent down to my level on the floor. The knife was still pointed at him. He held the blade.

"You shouldn't point knives at people. That's dangerous." He said with a sinister smile taking the knife away from my hand.

"Please don't hurt me" my words came out like a squeak.

"If you cooperate we won't " the other was in the room. I didn't know any of them.

"Looks like you were having fun all by yourself. You don't mind if we join in." He wasn't as muscular as the other guy but he was strong enough. I cowered in fear, back against them all with them up against my face.

"She's a beauty. We sure did land a gold mine here" he held my chin taking a good look at my face. I felt hot and sweaty, they hadn't done anything yet.

"P-Plea…."

"Ssssshhh…" he put his finger to my lips. The faint smell of blood on his fingers.

"Don't say no more." He whispered to me. Then he turned to the other muscular guy. "Check whether the enforcers are nearby," he said.

I breathed heavily, feeling my eyes water up. Facing back to me he startled my cheeks.

"It's ok we won't hurt you. Not that much." The tears fell down my cheek, he wiped them for me.

"It's okay, you know what let me tell you something we ain't from around here and some people are chasing us. Wouldn't you be a dear and help us out"

I nodded my head, shaking in fear. The blood on his finger sickened me. They were rogues.

"That's a good girl." He patted my head softly as he stood up to go fetch the glass of half-emptied wine.

"Mind if I have a drink," he asked but took it anyway. I curled myself up into a ball by the corner of the wall. They must have sneaked in during the festival. How do I get out?

"Oh and I forgot if you manage to escape I will kill you before you make it that far. Do think about it carefully" he tilted his head to the side giving a soft evil smile that sent a shiver down my back.

"It's not safe here they will catch" I managed to mumble under hushed words.

"That's where you come in"

I looked at him. What was he thinking? I can't do anything.

"What do you mean"

He tapped his chin as if in wonder "I have come to like this little pack. So I need you to kill the alpha before he finds me." He said blatantly. My eyes widened in shock.

"I can't do that. I am also a rogue and a late bloomer at that, I could never go against the alpha." I refused, it was impossible.

He drank out of the glass enjoying the taste.

"You don't have a choice dear." He said in an uninterested tone.

The other one came back giving him a nod. He dropped the glass and came closer. I pushed my back against the wall to put some space between us.

"Don't you want to be in a pack? To be loved and cherished. To feel like you belong somewhere" he whispered close to my ear. It was every wolf's instinct to be in a pack.

"Surely you wouldn't have to steal a bottle of wine, you could have all the bottles you want In the cellar." He lifted my chin to look at him. "So what do you think?" he grinned, showing his canine.
