The Battle Begins.

Thanks to the city guards' work, the trenches were completed quickly. Day and night, and even through rain, they knew their work was of the utmost importance, so they got it done.

Li Jun paced back and forth as he stared down at the rows of trenches, they had been carefully dug to the guidelines Shen Yun had suggested. She was there most days to overlook the construction and make sure that it was perfect.

"So what do you think?" Shen Yun asked as Li Jun stared thoughtfully at the final trench, it was close to the rotted bodies directly below the wall. He wondered whether or not he should get rid of them, they produced an awful smell but the soldiers that were previously stationed at the mountain pass knew that it worked to help deter some of the mentally weaker barbarians, though they tended to be few and far between.
