Your Mother's Here to See You

Liu Xiaodan arrived at his cell and lifted his shirt to see that his belly wasn't even harmed. However, he could squeeze some blood off of his shirt.

He heaved a deep breath and looked around to see what he could do. He only had his prison clothes and the ones he wore when he was arrested. He took his shirt off and put on the red hoodie before heading out again.

He drew a line across his arm and grasped it tightly to make it profusely bleed. He then ran to the infirmary for help.

Of course, the nurse had to invite him to the infirmary to properly patch him up. There were guards inside so an inmate couldn't do anything. He then explained about the blood, and the nurse only said he would receive a new set in a bit—along with some shots for his allergy.

The young man was discharged after getting the shots and realized that the people from the shower room should be there soon. He walked out and saw them rushing along the hallway.

Liu Xiaodan made himself unnoticeable as the men finally came to the infirmary. He pulled down his hood and walked along the wall to let them pass through. After, he quickly made his way back to his room.

He waited for the new uniform while reading a book. Then, a guard knocked on his door and gave the new set before collecting the old ones. He frowned at the amount of blood that painted the garments, and it took Liu Xiaodan a while to make him go away.

"I can't believe they just won't leave me alone." Liu Xiaodan changed into the new set before diving into the lap of the black bear. He then tried to take a nap before someone knocked on his door again. His eyes opened and looked at the four guards who came to see him.

"Your mother's here to see you."

...

The visitor hall was not crowded. However, there were a lot of people who were talking with their relatives or friends. Unlike another kind of prison, they were allowed to sit across their visitors without a glass separating them.

The visitors were not allowed to touch the inmate, but they could give the inmate a small bag of anything. This bag had been inspected thoroughly by the wardens outside as well.

Wu Qianqian came with Liu Li to see Liu Xiaodan. Yesterday, they came too early, and the prison bus hadn't arrived by then. Today, they were told to wait as the guards fetched Liu Xiaodan.

Of course, when some of the Black Boss' men heard that someone was visiting Liu Xiaodan, they wanted to bribe some guards to keep an eye and see who it was. Of course, those who were already there wanted to wait.

However, whether it was Liu Xiaodan's visitors or not, most eyes of the people in the visitor hall lit up as they saw such a rather gorgeous couple. They did look old, but the woman was undeniably pretty back at her prime.

They were waiting at a table, and the woman was recounting the items in her small bag. Then, footsteps came from the door leading to the prison interior. Those who wanted to see more of Liu Xiaodan were shocked. This young man was cuffed and chained to one of the guards' wrist. Moreover, he was walked by four guards.

As much as they know, only the Black Boss must have this kind of treatment, right? They were treating Liu Xiaodan like a very volatile inmate; what exactly did he do to be sent to prison?

"Xiaodan..." Wu Qianqian wasn't allowed to touch her son so she reined her craving to hug him. She also wanted to hold his hand, but she shouldn't.

She only held onto both of her hands. "Xiaodan, are you behaving well in here? I heard your trial would be in three days. Your father got you a good lawyer."

"Thanks, Mom." Liu Xiaodan couldn't stare at her eyes for too long. He felt so guilty about suddenly doing this. They both knew that he was innocent, and yet he made the police and the school believe otherwise.

"Right, here. I heard you have limited things in there." She handed the bag, and Liu Xiaodan took a look. As expected of her mother, what she packed were mostly toiletries: towels, tissue, single-use soaps, shampoo, and what-not. All of these had gone through security so he shouldn't worry about keeping them all.

"Sorry for bothering you to do this." Liu Xiaodan really felt so guilty. Through and through, he was such a useless son. His eyes then went up to see his father's face, but it was void of emotion. Even his eyes were not looking at Liu Xiaodan. The son quickly lowered his head.

Wu Qianqian then chatted with him about his food, his sleep, and his overall comfort. Of course, Liu Xiaodan lied about most of it. He wasn't comfortable; he was being attacked again and again. However, he needed to appease his mother.

Due to Liu Xiaodan's status, he was only allowed to talk for thirty minutes at maximum. Even if Wu Qianqian refused to leave, she had to move. She didn't know what his son did to deserve such fate.

On their way out, Liu Li suddenly regarded one of the guards.

"Please watch over him. A lot of people had been staring at him like they wanted to eat my son. His case is rather sensitive; if he dies here, the entire prison would be implicated." That was all Liu Li said, but the guards actually knew how bitter Liu Xiaodan's standing was here in the prison.

"Xiaodan, you survive until trial, okay?" Liu Li didn't sugarcoat much.

"I will..." Liu Xiaodan was shocked. His father could tell he had invited bad people in the prison. He was not ignoring Liu Xiaodan; he was surveying the area.

The son just gave them a deep bow as his parents left him in the visitor hall. He then went back with the guards with the bag at hand.

"Your father's good. Will you be okay?" The guard asked as soon as they left the visitor hall. Along this hallway, it was just them. "I heard about your case. They also said that the Ren family would be suing."

"Then, I die there, not here." Liu Xiaodan only chuckled. That's right. He shouldn't die here; there was an execution waiting for him.

...

Smoke blurred the air as a bulky dark man puffed out his cigarette. He heavily gazed at the man who reported to him before he puffed some smoke again.

A dark chuckle was his immediate answer. Then, he tossed his cigarette to the scout who caught it and tried to make the best out of it.

The dark man sighed. "Liu Xiaodan? I have never heard of that name before, but he's truly interesting. Not only did he scare Qin Rong and Dong Qiu, but he also killed six of us. He looks skinny, but he could flip a wall?"

He then moved his finger to command the scout. "Get me everything you could find about that man. Who he killed and how he did it. His case is sensitive? Then, let's burn the prison down."

The scout then nodded before leaving the dead cigarette in the ashtray. He went to leave while keeping his coughs to himself. The dark man harrumphed before sighing. "Ah, Liu Xiaodan, you should have gone quietly when you had the chance."

"Uncle, why are you obsessed with him?"

"A kid?" The dark man was alarmed. He heard a child, and so he saw a child climbing his bed. A rather beautiful six-year-old sat on the bed and looked up at him with a curious expression. "He didn't do anything to Uncle. Why is Uncle so mad at him?"

"Who are you? How did you get here? Are you lost?" The dark man couldn't recover his sense for a while. This was a private prison with criminals who had heavy sentences; most of them were on death row. As to why a child was there, was he able to slip through the guards?

"Hm?" The dark man then gave Guangru a once-over. Ah, such a very beautiful child.

He then leaned closer to him and reached out his hand as if touching the child's chin. "What do we have here? Did your mom lose you?"

"I don't have a new mother." Liu Guangru didn't do any cute movements aside from curiously looking at the man. In fact, he was surprised why this man came after his father like a missile. "Uncle, why do you hate him?"

The dark man then helped himself in feeling the child's chin and cheeks. Multiple thoughts were already circling his mind; if anything happened to the child, the only person to blame was his father.

He had no mother, right? Yes, the father would be responsible, not him. "By him, you mean this guy named Liu Xiaodan? Hehe, no, no, Uncle doesn't hate him."

A glass sculpture... in his eyes, Guangru was a glass sculpture. So smooth and awfully satisfying... to break.

He then lifted his hand to Guangru's head and felt the smooth, silky hair of the child. When his hand combed through the strands, some sort of wetness was left on his hand. Taking a closer look, he noticed that it smelled pungent and rusty.

Sweat? No, this shouldn't be sweat, or else the child's hair should be sticky. He then looked at the child again before using another hand to hold his hair. "Baby, why is your hair wet? Did you shower?"

"Not really." Guangru continued staring at the dark man. His gaze then started to unnerve the man. He was just a child, but why did his eyes feel like there was some loathing in it? Moreover, his hair...

"Your hair is wet." The dark man repeated before taking a paper towel to try and dry the child's hair. If he was going to play with this child, he should at least leave no trace, right?

The moment the paper towel met Guangru's hair, it was dyed blood-red. The dark man's eyes widened as he felt like he just placed the paper towel on a pool of blood. Moreover, this didn't amuse Guangru.

His childish eyes then glared at the dark man, sending him into a wintry place naked. His bones were chilled to the core, and his heart seemed to have stopped.

His mouth was about to move when the child perked his head up. A cute smile curled his lips, and he ran out of the cell. However, he went back a few steps to lock his gaze at the dark man.

"Uncle, if you don't want them to wipe your blood instead... keep away from my father."
