Tristan smelled alcohol and noticed the glass filled with brandy in Joseph's hand. The liquid swayed to the rim of the glass but miraculously didn't spill over the edge. He never saw the man drink before.
"I didn't find out what I got myself into until right before my wife passed away." Joseph took a sip from the glass as he looked up the stairway.
Tristan could see the man was borderline drunk. He didn't blame him either. "Nothing could scare me off when it comes to your daughter," he admitted.
"Good, because Vivian is pretty damn frightening." Joseph chuckled as he took another sip. "Thank god I was married to Kayla before I met the woman. She drives me crazy. Her voice alone makes my eyelashes ache. I wonder how those kids put up with her." He paused, as if in thought. "Speaking of those kids," he said, then took another sip. "How's the girl doing? Zeta's her name, right?"
