At the hospital, Malone insisted that Tristan retell the events that happened the night he found Cianne, over and over again. But no matter how hard he tried; Tristan couldn't fit all the events together in one believable package. He knew the veteran detective wasn't buying it. Who would?
He needed to speak to Cianne before Malone did, to discuss what they were going to divulge and what they weren't. The problem was, Cianne wasn't speaking to him or to anyone else. Well, no one except for Tranae.
After rescuing her, Tristan stayed by her side the eighteen hours she slept in the hospital. But when she woke up, she looked at him as if he was a stranger. She wouldn't speak to him, and his very presence seemed to bring her to tears so the nursing staff asked him to leave the room. Later he was informed that she wanted no visitors at all except for Tranae.
Now, she was home and Malone wanted her to fill in all the missing pieces Tristan didn't provide.
