Chapter 43

　　After a while of being lost in their hugs and crying their hearts out, Katherine pulled away and wiped Annie’s tears with her thumb.

　　“You’ve got nothing to be scared of anymore. Your mama and papa are here to protect you.”

　　Annie nodded.

　　“You’re hungry, aren’t you?”

　　“Please don’t be shy.” She said when Annie didn’t give a response.

　　“Your Dad and I haven’t had dinner. Please join us.”

　　Annie gave a small nod.

　　“Would you love to take a shower?” Katherine asked, believing that it would make her feel better.

　　“Yes,” Annie answered.

　　“Let’s go.” Kara rose to her feet and reached for Annie’s backpack. Annie helped herself up.

　　“She’s going to take a shower after which we will have dinner together. You should take a shower too.” Kara said to Adam.

　　He put down the glass cup which still had some alcohol left in it and walked to both mother and daughter. “Please feel at home. Your mom and I will always be here to protect you.” He said to Annie who nodded.
