Chapter Fourteen: Patrolling Schedule

I was having my soldiers undermine to run circling the whole palace for a hundred times along with the other commanders. My comrades entrust them to me to strictly advise them for their training. The first one who managed to complete the course was Private Ylea. She was now running towards me. That made me impressed.

"You have excellent speed and endurance, Private Ylea," I praised.

Private Ylea's face lightened up from my compliment. "Yes, Commander Rachelle! Every day, I improved my stamina for speed and endurance."

I smiled at her answer. "That is good to know, private. You can have your rest and take some water over there," I said pointed the hundreds of pitchers prepared by the palace staff for the soldiers.

"Yes, Commander!" She saluted me then ran back to the table.

The next soldiers that were coming were soldiers under my wing. It was a good thing that I made them do this every day so this would be no problem for them. I even saw one of my privates who received punishment from me. It was Private Inkstone who was very tired and sweating all over.

I just rolled my eyes seeing his condition. "Grab some water, soldier," I said and cocked my head, pointing at him where the table was and some of his comrades were already taking some water.

"Yes, Commander!" Inkstone said, huffing.

I massaged my temple as more soldiers that did not undermine are coming towards and already finished their course. "Go and grab some water there, soldiers!" I said loudly enough for them to hear me.

I heard approval from them. I left them all after I made sure no one was left behind and they finished their task according to their commanders' orders. I went to the headquarters and saw some of my comrades were already working.

"Furgoson, you're next to train them after they grab their breakfast," I said and was about to go to the bathroom.

"I thought Lieutenant Commander Lycan will be next to train them?"

I huffed and turned at him. "Didn't Walter inform you that Lycan has a meeting with the Fleet Admiral?"

He furrowed his eyebrows, perplexed. "What?"

Furgoson and I turned at Walter who was happily eating his breakfast while on his paperwork. He looked at us then he blinked his eyes, looking at us innocently.

I groaned in annoyance. "Damn you, Walter!"

"What? What did I do?"

"Come here, Walter. Let me punch you to death!" Furgoson said and ran towards him.

"Oh shit! Gotta go!" Walter ran away while bringing a plate of food in his hand.

I just rolled my eyes at their silliness. They were acting like little pups. I decided to go to the bathroom and took a quick shower. The moment my body hits the cold shower in the morning, a memory of Claude who brought me to the lake to remove my heat was flashed across my mind.

That happened a week ago already. Time flew so fast.

I wonder what happened to him right now. I am still confused as to how he followed me and knew my location if none of Storm and Casey were informed about my whereabouts, could he be that he hired a private investigator?

It could be...

Maybe Claude and Casey came from a noble family... Storm never informed me about where Casey came from so I could suspect that they could be from a noble family. If I am not mistaken. I could tell just by the way Casey walks with a gracefulness that only the royal family and noble family could be taught the right etiquette.

I don't want to pry from Casey and Claude's origin home but I am really curious about them.

I also remembered my first heat. That was the first heat that I experienced. Fortunately, Claude was there to help me. What more if any of my comrades came to look for me and saw me in that kind of situation? I would be damned if someone touches me if I came in heat again at an unexpected time.

After taking a quick shower, I wore my battlesuit armor for patrolling secretly. I went to the renovated dungeon that was made for a secret meeting with the other special assassinations. After Fleet Admiral reported about the incident of an almost assassination for Bennett, they called us to patrol for the day.

I would bet that I would be placed to patrol at night, not on the day.

"Commander Rachelle!"

I squinted my eyes to find that person but I already saw her. It was Captain Pavia Colette, the second woman who entered the military and I was her commander when she was still a private. She is one of my captains in my platoon.

I approached her. "Glad to see you, Commander Rachelle. I tried looking for you in the training field but luck doesn't knock on me."

I chuckled. "But your soldiers are seeing me, Colette."

She frowned. "Yeah. They informed me about it and I want to sulk right now." She crossed her arms over her chest. "I'm really mad at that time."

I laughed at her reaction. "Go back to being private again and you'll see me in action again." Colette smiled wryly. I laughed again at her reaction. She knew how strict I was if she returned to being a private again.

"Rachelle, great to see you again!"

I turned to see Benedict Arkin coming in our direction. He is the youngest General in the military rank and one of my batchmates.

"I see your egocentric attitude is airing all over here, Benedict," I teased. I heard Colette huffed which made me confused at her action.

He was also wearing his battlesuit uniform just like Colette and me. His Ivy league cut was making him look like a player. He stopped right in front of us. He looked at me then his eyes glued to Colette.

"I see you are hanging out with my mate." He grinned.

Colette growled. "Don't call me that," she said in her gritted teeth but lowly.

I blinked then looked at them, wide-eyed. "Since when?" I pointed at him and her.

Benedict looked at her like she was asking permission. Colette hid behind me like she didn't want to look at him.

"It's alright. You don't have to tell," I said, understanding their situation.

"I'm going over there," Colette said and left us as she went to our other colleagues.

I looked at Benedict, arching my eyebrow. Just what is happening right now? I am confused about their actions.

"What is happening? Did you two argue or what?"

"Let's just say... She's still in denial," Benedict said and shrugged. I saw a pain crossed over his eyes. "And I just knew that she is my mate when she entered the military," he said. He toned down his voice, only the two of us could hear.

My jaw dropped upon knowing this. I approached him and stepped forward. "Damn, Benedict! Did you just hit on her? You know that it is not allowed to do that?" I said in my lowly voice.

"No, pal!" he said and pulled me towards the corner. I looked at Colette who was looking at us worriedly. "I know the rules. She knew that I am her mate. But she didn't want to accept me yet."

"Okay..." I raised both of my hands. "Too much information, Benedict. Hold your horses! I'm still quite shocked about this! How come I didn't know?" Damn... These two knew how to keep a secret. Now I understand why Benedict was always guarding my posting during the training of my privates in the past. He was already watching over her but he set some boundaries.

Benedict was about to speak when Abraham Mendoza, our leader of special ranks and one of the Fleet Admiral, arrived on his military uniform with his assistant, Karen Young, the third woman who entered for military and was a captain under Furgoson's wing.

"We'll talk later," I said to Benedict. He nodded and we both returned to our designated seat.

"Good to see that everyone is here." We all nodded our heads. "We will have rounds of patrolling started from today. Karen already prepared your schedule for patrolling and I am hoping you are going to do your job to protect the palace and our Grand Alpha King from the threats."

Karen started distributing our schedule. I received mine and smiled mentally when I saw that I am going to patrol at night. That was more I like it. I am way more active at night than patrolling through the day.

"We need to keep the surrounding safe. The newly crowned Alpha King is having his homecoming after his years of training in a secluded, isolated place in the next few weeks."

We all gasped from the news. That was surprising. The newly crowned king, son of Grand Alpha King Claudian Alexander III is coming. We all haven't seen him so we were curious about what he looked like.

"Would the Alpha King have a grandiose homecoming?" asked one of my comrades.

Abraham cleared his throat. "As for now, we received a message that the Alpha King wants to come here in a surprise but the Grand Alpha King doesn't want that."

I smiled wryly. Of course, that old man wouldn't let that go anyway. It is the homecoming of his son so he wanted it to be grandiose.

I raised my hand to ask a question. Sir Abraham looked at me. "If he wants to come here in surprise, how would we know that he is the Alpha King? How would we be able to acknowledge him? I know that all of us haven't seen the newly crowned king. So?" All agreed with what I said.

"The Grand Alpha King forbids to distribute a photo of our Alpha King Claudian Alexander IV. For now, I can only tell that he has mischief behavior and loves to play around. He is quite stubborn also."

I twitched my lips, not satisfied with his answer. How would we even know then?

"Sir, we can ask Rachelle to ask the Grand Alpha King for the photo of our Alpha King," someone said.

Creasing my forehead, I glared to that direction where Morris Highgate was. "You are stupid," I remarked. "Can you just shut your mouth?" He was definitely annoying even though we were batchmates before. He had always been like that. He kept on teasing and opposing me on my ideas. "Sir Abraham, we can ask Morris to get himself killed if I do this."

"Wow! So nice of you," he said. Sarcasm was all over his tone.

I smiled at him. "Thanks!" I said mockingly. But he just shot me a glare.

"Rachelle, Morris, stop it!"

I stayed silent and so is Morris after Sir Abraham called our names.

"I will ask the Grand Alpha King about this matter and ask the Alpha King for confirmation. For now, I can't say a definite answer." He sighed. "You are now dismissed."

In the end, even Fleet Admiral Abraham couldn't give a definite reason. We would just have to wait for it.

I wonder what the Alpha King looks like.
