Chapter 8: Lightning Tribulation

Leng Bao, Leng Bojing and Leng Ai stood around 14 year old Leng Ling. They were pressed up against her, showing their anxiousness and a slight fear. Cultivation required two lightning tribulations on this continent. One to enter Deity level and one to enter Immortal level. Their wolf parents were currently going through the second tribulation.

The tribulation to enter Deity level was only 7 strikes. However to enter the Immortal level, one needed to go through twice that amount. Each strike was fiercer than the one before it. Both of their parents had agreed to go through their tribulation at the same time so as to transcend together. Each strike was only seconds from the the previous one and had no break in-between for the tribulators to rest. They were already on their 11th strike at this time.

Leng Ling stroked Leng Ai and Leng Bojing's fur reassuring them, before leaning over to pat Leng Bao.

"It's ok. They'll make it. We helped them to prepare well. They'll be safe."

"I know. But it's a little scary. Will we have to go through this when it's time to break through to Deity level?"

Leng Ai shivered a little and pressed tighter against Leng Ling's side.

"What are you worried for? I will go through this before you will. There is no need for you to worry. I will help you to prepare for your own. We will always be together, remember?"

Leng Ling wasn't overly tall. The others were much taller, even in their wolf form. So she had to reach up high to reach their shoulders to hug them.

Before their lightning tribulation, Leng Fei and Leng Hui had insisted that their children form a soul contract with Leng Ling so they could protect each other. Leng Ling had reached Natal Middle by this stage. The other's had only just reached Supreme Advanced. Leng Bao was the highest of the three wolf cubs in that he had reached Supreme Peak. Even though Leng Ling was younger than them, they viewed her as their older sister.

By this time the last strike was beginning to fall. This was the most important one for the wolf parents. Once this fell, their upgrade to Immortal level would be completed. The four siblings held their breath as they watched. This last strike was different. The other strikes were more of a silvery colour, some red due to their fire element affinity. The last strike was golden in colour. It was softer, more gentle looking.

As soon as the last strike had finished, the 4 siblings were racing over to where their parents had collapsed against each other in exhaustion.

"""Father! Mother!"""

"Mother Fei! Father Hui! Congratulations!"

"Thanks kids. We have about 3 days before we transcend to the next continent."

Feng Hui replied once he had finally caught his breath.

"That gives me time to prepare more things for you to take with you."

Leng Ling had not only learnt alchemy. She had also learnt artificing. The bamboo hut had opened and artificing room the moment she broke through to Natal Secondary. The equipment she made were extremely efficient in both attack and defense and could use more than the fire element of the Fire Wolf Tribe. Leng Hui had told her previously that both her equipment and her pills were all Heavenly grade.

Equipment and pills came in 5 grades. The most common grades were Basic and Advanced. The black sword that she had gotten from her Mother's pouch was of Advanced grade.

Heavenly grade was less common and was the middle of the range. After Heavenly grade was Godly grade and Immortal grade was the highest level available. Both were rare to find. Her Phoenix Ring was considered to be of Immortal grade.

"Ling'er, you've made us enough. Prepare some for yourself!"

Leng Fei objected strongly. The girl had already made them numerous treasures. Their universal pouches couldn't fit anymore in them.

"Just one more thing. I promise it'll be worth it! They're almost done anyway."

Leng Ling brushed her wolf Mother's objections away with a giggle. It was a sweet sound, like bells tinkling. Leng Ling rarely smiled let alone giggled, so her parents gave in easily.

"Sigh! Alright, since you've already started it. Let's go back."

Leng Hui rubbed Leng Ling's hair affectionately. The family of 6 went back to their cave happily. Leng hugged her wolf parents before popping back into her ring.
