Chapter 15: The Hu Family vs The Li Family

Being naturally curious, Leng Ling turned in the direction of the sounds of fighting. The three men following her closely. As the sounds got louder, they reached a clearing. A group of people in blue were fighting a group of people in grey. Hu Feng paled when she saw one of the people in blue lying on the ground.

"Sister Ling'er, the people in blue are my Hu Family. That one on the ground is my youngest brother. Can you please help him?"

"OK."

Leng Ling headed towards the boy on the ground. He was around her age and was bleeding from his side as well as a head wound. Putting up a wind barrier around them to stop attacks from accidentally hit them, she pulled out creams and pills and got to work. One of the Hu Family members was startled at her arrival and thought she was going to attack him before Hu Feng pulled him back and explained she was a friend.

Both sides stopped as soon as they saw Long Junjie enter the clearing. No one wanted to be killed for accidentally attacking the Crown Prince.

"What is this about?"

Fu Bohai casually asked.

One of the Hu Elders bowed and responsed with:

"First Young Master Hu had been gone a long time. Madam got worried and sent us out to search for him. Along the way we caught sight of a rare Yellow Mockingbird Flower. As we went to retrieve it the Li Family also caught sight of it and attacked us for it. Third Young Master was hit during their attack."

"We saw it first. You tried to steal it from us."

A spoilt sounding girl's voice called out from the center of the Li Family.

"Neither of you are in the right for this. That Yellow Mockingbird Flower belongs to the Air Bird Tribe. It has no uses for humans and is senseless for you to take it."

Leng Ling spoke as she removed the wind barrier. Hu Feng's younger brother was now sitting up with his wounds healed. The two opposing families were stunned when they saw her.

Long Junjie hurried over to help her up disregarding the stunned and jealous eyes of the Li Family miss. Hu Feng helped his younger brother up.

"Bai'er! Are you ok?"

"I'm fine elder brother. Thank you Miss for saving my life."

Hu Bai bowed deeply to Leng Ling in respect and thankfulness.

"Who are you and how dare you stand so close to his highness, The Crown Prince!"

The Li Family Miss yelled out angrily as she strode across the clearing to pull Leng Ling away from Long Junjie. However before she could touch Leng Ling, a force of water pushed her away and onto the ground away from them.

"Who allowed you to come near her."

Long Junjie glared down at the now muddy Li Family Miss. As she stared up at him in shock she began to cry pitifully. However only those in the Li Family tried to console her.

The Hu Family were too busy trying to convey their thanks to Leng Ling and the three men were standing around her keeping them at a distance.

"Your Highness, The Crown Prince, it will not be good if Fu Meilin hears that you are so close to another female. She will be angry at you!"

The Li Family Miss tried again to interfere between Leng Ling and Long Junjie.

"Miss Li, I suggest you mind your own business. Why would Mei'er get angry at Ling'er being near Jun'er? She doesn't own him and they have no relationship with each other."

Fu Bohai was confused. His sister, Fu Meilin, and Long Junjie had no relationship with each other other than one being the sister of his friend.

Miss Li snorted.

"Don't you know that there is a marriage agreement between His Highness, the Crown Prince and the Fu Family?"

Fu Bohai smacked his head.

"Oh right! But that has nothing to do with Mei'er. That agreement is for my cousin through Aunt Di Li. Mei'er is not involved."

"What are you talking about? Your Aunt didn't have a daughter. Of course the engagement is for Mei'er."

"Nope, it really isn't. It states in the agreement that only the daughter of Aunt Di Li can be Jun'ers betrothed. No one else can be substituted for it. Also, Aunt Di Li's daughter is right there."

Miss Li looked at Leng Ling in shock. She was Di Li's daughter? Quickly she turned around and stalked off, her Li Family following behind raggedly.
