Eight Quest

At the Adventurer's Guild.

Vivian entered the building.

She had her hair tied into a ponytail and was wearing her Brown Cloak, gold necklace, Copper I Rank pendant and earring. And underneath her cloak, she wore her leather armor, a black and fitting long-sleeved shirt underneath, black fitting pants, worn-out leather boots with steel plates covering the tips, and a water pouch and small sack around her waist. As for her weapon, she had her poleaxe on her hand and her kitchen knife hidden inside her left boot.

When she got back to the compound, she had breakfast, did her "night" routine and washed some clothes before going to bed. However, once she got to bed, she couldn't sleep and only ended up tossing and turning for about an hour until she decided to just go to the Adventurer's Building.

And of course, she timed arriving here when the stampede of adventurers getting quests was over.

But despite that, there were still a number of people around.

Vivian glanced at Pana's counter and saw that she was busy entertaining adventurers.

She then went straight away to the Quest Board.

Special Quest: Search for my pet's favorite toy. Last known location, Market District. Reward 50 copper coins, time limit 30 days…

Nope…

Gather 15 hearts of Treebark. Reward 10 copper coins, time limit 2 days…

Nope…

There…!

Rip.

She tore out the Bukaroo quest paper.

Thank God this was still here…!

As she was about to turn away and submit the quest paper to the Quest Processing counter, something caught her attention.

Her eyes landed on the Colorless Quests section.

The first quest paper was about reporting any information regarding the organization The Cult of Infinity. The reward was 20 platinum coins and there was no time limit.

The second quest paper was about reporting any information regarding demon worshipers. The reward was also 20 platinum coins and no time limit.

But what caught Vivian's attention was the third quest paper which she doesn't remember seeing because it's usually just the first 2 posted on this section, something like a default quest. 

And what made it more interesting to her was that there was a sketch of a man's face.

Capture or report any information regarding the location of the former Supreme Captain Ronaldo Castle for his involvement with the demon worshipers. Reward is 20 platinum coins. No time limit…

Former Supreme Captain…

She stared at the sketch and squinted her eyes.

Truth be told, the artist who drew the sketch wasn't bad. However, it was still a bit sloppy.

Vivian recalled the first humans she encountered when she came here in this world and how she was saved by a man in armor from being chased by a group of monsters.

Heh~

So his name was Ronaldo…?

Her lips slowly curled up into a mocking smile.

A demon worshipper, huh…

I didn't expect that…

She shook her head before heading over to the Quest Processing counter.

As if there's any chance I would bump into him…

And even if he was still here in the city, I'd be lucky if I would be the one to get the opportunity to capture him…

And that's just the opportunity of bumping into him...

Whether I could capture him or not is another story…

"Hi, sorry to bother you. Are you taking a quest?" a male voice asked.

Vivian rolled her eyes before turning around to face the person.

Deep within the forest surrounding Luxen City.

Vivian was running at full speed with a poleaxe on her hand.

Up ahead there were 2 Brown Kraines playing around with each other and they haven't noticed her yet.

Brak.

Vivian stepped on a branch and the 2 monsters turned to her.

Although she appeared blurry in their eyes, they could still at least see a figure that was heading their way and they also felt this natural aversion towards the figure.

They charged to rip the unknown figure into shreds.

When the 2 Brown Kraines were about to enter Vivian's attack range, she stopped.

Whooosh!

She did a spinning attack and sliced open one of the monster's head with the axe blade of her weapon, killing it in an instant that it wasn't even able to cry out in pain.

Bam!

Craaack!

She spun around once again and then jumped before delivering a downward blow using the hammer of her weapon, cracking open the remaining monster's head. 

Vooom!

Vivian quickly resumed running around in search of enemies.

A couple of steps later, something suddenly attacked her from above.

Hiss!

Due to Vivian's speed, the attack missed and she was already a couple of feet away.

Vivian stopped and increased her focus, causing the whole world to slow down even further through her eyes. 

She turned around and saw a 15-foot-long black-colored snake on top of a tree.

Woooh!

Chud!

She threw her poleaxe and managed to hit the monster's body with the spear blade of her weapon, pinning it on the tree.

The monster wiggled in pain and tried to break away.

Vivian quickly raised her hand and activated a spell.

[Lightning Arrow].

Pscht!

Thud, thud, thud…

An arrow made out of lightning burst out of her hand and shot through the monster's body, electrocuting it along with the tree. In the end, the monster hung lifelessly on the tree and all the tree's leaves and fruits fell down to the ground. And there was smoke coming out from all of them.

Vivian scratched the side of her face with her finger and let out a wry smile.

"So that doesn't work…"

Tch!

She clicked her tongue as she went over to the tree to retrieve her weapon.

"Looks like I really have to be careful in using the right kind of powers…"

Although one of Vivian's goals was to level up her [Lightning Mastery], if she were to be honest, she really likes it because it has an electrocuting effect. So even if the target manages to survive, it would stun them for a moment, giving her time to deliver another attack.

In the future, maybe I should just try [Wind Arrow]…

I can't cause too much destruction and get even more unnecessary attention... 

Beak!

Beak!

Voooom!

Thud.

Vivian immediately rushed forward and pulled out her poleaxe from the tree, causing the snake's corpse to fall to the ground.

She turned around to look for the bird.

"Ahhh!"

When she looked down, she saw a Paparu stabbing her right leg with its 15-inch-long horn.

Chak!

Vivian twirled her poleaxe and stabbed the monster's back with the spear blade of her weapon.

The monster was still alive and it struggled.

Bam!

Crack!

She stomped on the monster's head and crushed its skull.

She then shifted her boot on the Paparu's body and pulled out her weapon as she looked around to search for the Bukaroo.

When she spotted the bird, she immediately charged towards it.

Pah!

Beeeaaak!

Thud.

She slapped it with her weapon and then rushed to where it landed.

Chak!

And then stabbed the bird with the spear blade of her poleaxe.

The bird flapped around its wings as it struggled to cling to its last and remaining precious breaths.

[Heal].

A faint yellow light enveloped Vivian's body.

When she returned her gaze to the bird, it had already stopped struggling.

She closed her eyes and then slowly opened them.

"I really, really hate this [Spear Mastery]!"

"Like I seriously fucking hate it!"

"This is hands down one of the most stupid weapons ever built!"

"Whoever thought about this weapon is stupid and a complete moron!"

"But I'm even more stupid and a moron because I decided to level this shit up!"

"FUCK!!!"

She let out a sigh and massaged her temples.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid…" she muttered under her breath. "Go fucking kill yourself, Vivian…"

"Like seriously, why?"

"Why would anyone use a spear?"

"It can't even kill with one thrust."

"And even if we consider the range, there's magic…"

"So why?"

"And even if we would say that mana is limited, there's bow and arrow."

"I don't understand it."

"At least with a bardiche or hammer, I can understand their destructive power."

"But a spear?"

"Why?"

"How is it any different from me using a dagger or sword and just approach my enemy to stab them?"

"At least with a dagger and sword I have many more movements and they're easier to carry."

"And I'm only 5'4!"
