The Auspicious Nights

WFP#37 BRONZE WINNER COMPLETED # UNDER EDITING It was a bright and sunny day. Okay. Sorry about that. It was not a bright and sunny day rather a dark and stormy night even worse was the pelting heavy rain that beat onto earth with a fury enough to rival the battle of the Greek gods. The stars that had originally decorated the sky during the earlier part of the night were no longer visible. The full moon whose brightness had outshone the twinkling stars was now pitifully hiding behind the heavy dark cloud. If one could understand the language of nature, its terrified cry of sorrow could be heard. In the middle of a forest stood a majestic castle whose architecture outshone every other thing that existed near and far from it for almost a hundred miles. This was the castle that no one had access to except the owners who were made up of a small family of six. As the rain fell with an increase in speed every second that passed by, a slender figure could be seen lying in the center of a humongous bed. The slender finger could be seen tugging at the duvet trying to disappear within its warmth. Long brown curly hair was spread neatly on the pillow as the small face disappeared under the heavy purple duvet. A few minutes passed by with the slender body sleeping peacefully without any disturbance. When the clock struck midnight, everything began to change. The once majestic castle that shone brightly was shrouded by a thick and heavy fog such that it became invisible to ordinary eyes. .......@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@........ One stormy night changed her fate forever. She was initiated into a world she knew nothing about. Zamarad woke up feeling strange but paid no heed to it. Don't touch her, she is my Queen! Come closer baby, you are mine. Zamarad! Wait for me! You shall carry my offspring. Wait until I conquer you, heart, body, and soul. No... please let me go! I don't want to be a part of your world! She cried. Her bulging stomach was evidence of how real everything was! Will she accept her fate? Accepting her fate

Zamarad looked at her family members disbelieve and hurt evident in her eyes. How could her family treat her like this? She knew for a fact that she was not adopted. Her physical appearance was evidence enough to charge her guilty of her identity as their biological daughter.

"You are pregnant dear sister. You should take care of yourself. Otherwise, if you lost your baby, your groom will hunt us down." This flat and almost loathing voice drew her thoughts back to the present. Zamarad looked at her sister not believing what she just heard.

She was trying hard not to think of the said groom who was mentioned earlier by her father. Yet, he was mentioned again by her evil sister. And did she hear the word pregnant? Her jaw dropped open as she gazed at her family's faces that confirmed her sister's words.

"Www-what do you mean am pregnant? "She stammered. How on earth did she get pregnant? From shock to disappointment her emotions turned to red fury and deadly rage." How did I get pregnant when I have never been intimate with any man before? Can someone explain this to me? What the hell is going on here? Father? Mother? Brother Khalid? Sister Rumi? "At this point panic was evident in her voice as her gaze shifted from one person to another.

Her family looked away from her a pang of guilt suddenly evident on their faces except for the mother and Ramlah. The mother was playing with her nails admiring them from time to time not caring a bit about the panic in her youngest daughter's voice. Why should she care for the brat any ways, she was never hers after the first time she abandoned her as a baby.

Ramlah on the other hand found pleasure in Zamarad's displeasure. Anything that would hurt her sister or cause discomfort to her would bring infinite pleasure to her dark soul. She wanted so much to rub salt into her wounds but recalling the raw threat by the handsome devil whom she wished to covet made her keep her taunts to herself.

No one said, however that she couldn't find pleasure in relying the new to her very conservative little sister. "My dearest sister, your groom will come for you after you give birth but for now, you will have to take care of the baby in your womb. As for how you got pregnant, well, you are still "pure" but it doesn't matter anymore.

The devil has claimed you and I believe he has marked you. As for the rest of the questions that you may have, well, we are not in the position to answer you. Your groom…"

Ramlah's words were cut short by the breaking of the glass that Zamarad was holding in her hands initially. Zamarad was tired of hearing the word groom when her mind was in chaos from all the information she just received.

"I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANY MORE OF IT," she yelled. "Please, leave my room all of you. I don't want to see any one right now. Thank you for the information however. I appreciate it. At least now, I understand the reason behind a lot of things that have happened to me within a span of two days."

Zubeida was the first one to walk out of the room. She had better things to do than dealing with her brat throwing a temper tantrum. No matter how much tantrum she threw she would end up as the devil's bride. The sooner she accepted it the better. This was what she wanted to say out loud to her last borne daughter but she felt too lazy to expend any energy for her.

Let her deal with her demons alone. I was none of her business anyway. She was followed closely by her eldest daughter Rumi and her son Khalid. Those two were inseparable. They were almost always together. Mustafa hesitated before leaving the room.

"Don't think too much about it. Just accept it and you will be fine," was his message before he left Ramlah in the room with her younger sibling. Ramlah looked at her sister and a blinding smile broke out on her face.

She stood up and moved closer to the bed. She then sat elegantly near Zamarad and whispered in a menacing tone into her ears, "If you were not alive, this would have been my fate. I mean, I don't mind replacing you but unfortunately the devil wants a freak for a bride. Well, I guess you will have to enjoy the hell that comes with being the devil's bride.

By the way, did you know that I find pleasure in everything that causes discomfort to you? Right now, my heart is filled with joy seeing how miserable you look. Anyway, keep on wallowing in your stupid thoughts and I will keep on feeling good about it." She patted her cheeks lightly and stood up to leave the room with a loud snort.

If she had looked back just a few seconds before she left the room, she would notice the yellow blinding glow that was coming from Zamarad's furious gaze. The moment the door closed, Zamarad stood from the bed and let out a blood cuddling scream that was loud enough to awaken the dead. She screamed until she could no longer scream.

She then sat down and started laughing like a mad woman until her laughter was replaced by tears and crying. She felt lost and scared. She felt hated and sold. She was human but she was never given a chance to make choices for herself. She was made a sacrificial lamb and sold to the devil without caring for how she would feel.

Zamarad cried tears of pain and lose. The loss of her freedom and the denial of her will to make decisions for herself. She cried for her privacy that was invaded time and time again. She felt like a caged animal ready to be sacrificed. She was only nineteen for crying out loud.

She felt a weird sensation coming from her lower abdomen. Her hands moved automatically to her womb! Aah. How could she forget that she was now pregnant? The warm sensation moved from her womb and spread to the rest of her body calming her down instantly.

A surprised look flashed on her wet face but then she immediately concluded that a devil's spawn was likely not an ordinary being. This particular spawn, however, was now also hers.

"What can I do but take care of you little one? Though you were planted without my consent, how can I take an innocent life? I guess I will have to grow strong for you baby. Mommy will take care of you. I hope you take care of mother like you just did." A smile formed on her face. The image looked picturesque to the man who was watching from the shadows.

when life throws stones at you, you have to look for a shield to protect yourself. but the first step is accepting that you cant fight stones with your bare hands.
