Inside one of the bathrooms of the orphanage, a man washed the blood off his body. He took a pitcher of water from the basin, and poured it all over his body, staining the floor with water mixed with blood.
(Damon POV)
After a quick night wash, I put on a white robe as I let my towel hanging on my shoulder. I went to my office on top of the orphanage, and sat on my chair, thinking of what just happened earlier.
'Who sent those three? I should've interrogated at least one of them.' I regretted it in my thoughts. I was the one who killed the three shadowy men a moment ago. I threw their bodies at the foot of the mountain just outside of this village, while resisting the urge to suck their blood dry.
You see, back when I was in the military, I was bitten by something many people thought was just a myth; a vampire of the royal family of the Sunlight Empire. I was fighting an army alongside my comrades at the time, and I was a lieutenant. It is hidden from the public ears, but both the royal families of the two empires are mythical creatures that've been fighting for many years; vampires and werewolves.
The royal families of the two empires have been suppressing this knowledge to be public because of the backlash that would happen. Even in the army, only a select few knew what they were, and I was one of them. I knew what they were because I had the chance to stand in front of his highness, the Emperor of Albion.
I was tasked to protect the only princess of the empire at the time because she was going to a nearby city that was ravaged by the other empire so that she could give hope to the people that are still alive back then, and as young and foolish as I was, I accepted the offer without knowing that that would be my end. The royal family of the Sunlight Empire sent assassins to kill her highness, but me and my men were always there to protect her.
But, one day, the crown prince of the enemy empire came all on his own and slaughtered the remaining people of the entire city. As I was dying under the rubbles of the buildings, he said that he saw potential in me and bit me in the neck with his fangs, thus I became a vampire. The name "Damon" is something that I created to disguise my real identity so that I could hide from the military. I never showed my vampiric tendencies due to the fear that my previous life would come back to haunt me and my children.
I had a wife for some time, but due to being a sub-class vampire, I was infertile and she filed a divorce. A sub-class vampire is someone who was bitten to become a vampire, not born as a vampire. But even then, I am strong enough to dispatch ten men at once with my vampiric strength.
The only problem right now is that someone sent assassins to kill someone from my orphanage. They were as strong as the soldiers in the military, so they must've been low-leveled assassins. I've faced stronger assassins before, and most of them were as strong as me back when I was human.
Drinking blood right now in my condition would only activate my other self; a bloodthirsty monster. I never drink that much blood because I would go into a frenzy and kill any enemy I see. I would only drink in small doses from time to time, and even then it's hard to control my instincts. I fear that one day, I would attack my children. That is my greatest fear.
(End POV)
(The Next Day)
I woke up at the sound of someone hitting a metal pan. I rubbed my head with my little hand while drowsily standing up. The others also woke up, and we all went to the dining hall to eat breakfast.
My breakfast was baby food, and I don't mind it since it's quite delicious. I just wish they would change its texture, it's too slimy.
After breakfast, I went back to our room but not before taking some books with me. My favorite books are usually those that are in the line of realistic fiction, where they tell stories of monsters in the mountains or the tribes of Orcs in the west. Monsters such as dragons are common knowledge because they exist, though they are almost extinct in the Bronze Continent due to humans hunting them down for meat and armor. But I heard that dragons are used as domesticated animals in the Platinum and Golden Continents.
Anyway, I waited for my insects to arrive. Damon said that he'll go buy them right now, and he might be able to buy them for 1 BN for 30, that's why I could get around 300 KP if things went according to plan. I'll probably buy 20 clones or so to train in both [Physical] and [Mana]. Mana is very important since someone who can properly control them can beat a dozen farmers with a flick of their fingers.
Since my purpose is to be the strongest, according to my creator's words, then I should focus a bit on mana, rather than my physical capabilities. And, in my current state, Mana is more useful than [Physical] Training. I'm still just a toddler, and having immense physical strength would cause some complications in my later life. I need to be careful.
Then, as I thought of that, tutorial bot's voice sounded in my head: [, since your creator has thought of this occurring, your body is already capable of wielding immense physical strength even though you're still a toddler. Remember, you are biologically perfect in every way. You were designed by him to become the strongest]
'What? Wai- nevermind. That's good news to me anyway.'
Then, a balance training between the two should help me all the way. Even though magic fascinates me, my physical capabilities are also needed to become a better fighter overall.
An hour later, Damon came back carrying large leather bags, and they were moving.
In the living room, he sat on the wooden chair, and said, "Here, I bought you these insects. I don't know what you are going to do with this, but I managed to buy 3000 of them with only 100 BN."
There were three bags of them, each having a thousand insects. I poked one of the bags with my small finger, and it suddenly moved, creeping me out.
I looked at Damon and said, "Thank you, even though it's unnecessary, you still bought them for me."
He smiled, "No problem, 100 BN didn't even make any difference in my bank account. Just tell me what you are going to do with these."
"I've been studying alchemy, and I think I was able to make a new kind of pill that will cure Flare." That was a lie, of course, I just needed an excuse to kill them.
Damon just smiled and stood up, then patted my head while saying, "Sure, sure, go and make it, big boy. I'll be in my office, show me the result when you're finished."
He didn't believe me, but that doesn't matter. Now, at least I have an alibi that will explain how I got the medicinal pill. I can't just tell Damon that I bought it in a magical system that lets me buy stuff and clone myself. That's just stupid. And even then, he wouldn't believe either. At least there were records of an alchemist genius who was able to create countless pills that have a plethora of effects, like strength enhancement and mana augmentation. That alchemist genius was 3 years when she was able to make her first pill, so it's not that far of a fetch to say that I can do it, too. Except I just have a weird way of making pills.
Since the bags were too heavy for me, some of the older boys carried them for me to the backyard. I thanked them, and they just said, "Anything for our little brother." Damon raised a lot of good children.
The backyard is surrounded by the forest, and animals would come by from time to time, but thankfully, we have a fence that blocks them from entering. The backyard isn't playing games like tag, hide and seek, and play ball.
I am currently wearing a brown baby tunic and red shorts. I took out a box of matches that I stole from the kitchen and took out a bottle of oil that I hid behind the bushes near the fence. This bottle of oil was hard to sneak out of the kitchen since everyone is always awake during the day, but I managed to bribe Flame with a few candies that I've been saving to take it out at night when no one was looking.
Everything went according to my plan somehow, and I'm thankful for that.
This oil is highly flammable; a single match can light it in flame.
I gathered the bags together in one spot, then poured all of the contents of the bottle of oil into it. Then I took out a single match, and with a flick of my finger, I lit it up, before throwing at the bags covered with oil. I then turned around like one of the characters I read in an action novel and put on my imaginary sunglasses like a boss.
The fire behind me erupted almost immediately, and if I had a camera, this would've looked so cool.
Then, I saw numerous transparent screen appear in front of me, saying:

After a few more notifications, I finally earned 289 KP. Some insects escaped, so that's that.
I immediately bought the medicinal pill that is simply named: Cure, But with A Price.
Now, it's time to show this to Damon.
You can now send power stones to my novel. If you like the novel, support it by dropping a few stones on your way out. Thanks!
