As the night wore on, Sophia and Alex continued to mingle with the other guests. Sophia was still on edge, knowing that Valerie was lurking somewhere in the crowd. But Alex seemed determined to distract her, introducing her to a string of celebrities and business moguls.
"... And this is my lovely fiance Sophia." Alex introduced.
Sophia forced a smile, but her mind still raced with the possibility of Valerie and Joseph humiliating her, so she tried her best to cling to Alex.
"She looks pretty shy." One of the guests muttered.
Alex chuckled lightly. "Oh, it's nothing... It's just that she isn't feeling too well, but she couldn't just let me come here alone, no matter how much I persuaded her."
"That's elegant... A woman who is ready to be with you even when it's not convenient for her? You've found yourself a fine young woman Alex." Another guest replied.
Alex chuckled lightly. "She is lovely." He said.
