ISABEL'S HEART. ISABEL'S HOPE Part 2

Peter makes his way through the freezing cold and thick snow, making it hard to move, but the thought of saving Isabel's life keeps him going. He then looks over and sees two men breaking into a house nearby. Peter wants to help, but he doesn't have time.

He wishes he could be in two places at once, and that sometimes, even with the things he can do, he still feels small. But he can't loose hope, no matter what.

Meanwhile at the hospital, Mrs. White is waiting for Spider-Bat to return with her daughters heart. Andrea soon walks over to her, offering her a coffee.

"Thank you." Mrs. White says, taking the coffee with a somber smile.

Andrea smiles back at her, taking a seat next to her.

"Stupid question, but how are you holding up?" Andrea asks.

Mrs. White sighs.

"Honestly... I am barely holding it together. A week ago, we were so excited to come here. To see the bright lights, maybe see someone famous. Now- Now I've lost a husband and a son... I can't loose my little girl too."

Mrs. White then puts down her coffee and turns to Andrea, looking her in the eyes.

"I know you have no way in knowing. But he's going to make it in time, right?" She asks.

Andrea puts her hand on her shoulder.

"He will do- whatever it takes, to bring your daughter that heart. He'll be here in time." Andrea says.

Mrs. White bursts into tears and hugs Andrea, wanting more than anything to believe her.

Back with Peter, the cold begins to take its toll on his body, causing him to fall face first into the snow. He's running out of both time and hope, barely being able to get back to his feet.

"I've failed...failed you... Gwen." Peter thinks to himself.

Peter quickly snaps out of, using everything he has to push himself back to his feet.

"Not Gwen- Isabel... It's too late for Gwen... I couldn't save her... But I can save Isabel... Can't loose hope, gotta keep focus... Spider-Bat never quits... He can't quit." Peter thinks to himself.

After a few more steps, he finally finds the helicopter stuck on the structure, buried in the snow. Peter shoots his web up and he climbs the structure, trying to get up there.

"The two pilots could be still alive... I could save them and the heart... That is, if I hurries."

As Peter gets up the structure, the helicopter falls into the bay below, with negative thirty degree temperature waters. Without even thinking about it, Peter dives into the bay to save everyone.

He quickly pulls out a female Pilot, throwing her on shore where the local workers are waiting.

"Watch her, I'm going back for the other one." Peter tells a worker.

He goes to dive back into the water, but the female pilot grabs his arm.

"H-H-He's dead. My partner, Jerry, is dead. Died r-right infront of me. Couldn't h-help him." The pilot says.

Peter thinks for a moment, then dives back into the water. He still has a heart to get. He swims into the helicopter and grabs the machine that the heart is in, soon getting out of the water and onto shore. He doesn't have time to rest, he doesn't have time to catch his breath, he has to keep going.

An hour of unrelenting movement through the snow, Peter is even colder than before, Now being covered in water. Ice starts to form on his suit and face, but he keeps pushing forward, realizing that he has more time now because of the machine preserving the heart. At that moment, he hears another house being broken into.

"I have to ignore it... I have to get to the hospital."

At that moment, he hears a young woman's scream.

In the house, a mugger grabs a woman inside. She tries to fight him off, but is pinned to the ground as the mugger smiles devilishly.

"You want it rough? You got it. We'll go rough. Just you. And me." The mugger says.

At that moment, Peter kicks in the door and enters the house, intimidating the mugger.

"And me." Peter says.

"Spider-Bat? Hold on, the guns not loaded, I didn't mean anything by it. She started it."

Peter just scowls at the criminal.

"Get. Out." Peter says.

The mugger immediately runs out of the house. The young woman breathes a sigh of relief and smiles.

"You saved my life. Thank you." She says.

She is then concerned about Peter not responding, just standing there in silence.

"Hey, are you ok? You're kinda... blue. Can you move?" She asks.

After a few moments pass, Peter falls to the ground, unconscious. The woman checks on the hero, before leaving to go get help.

Back at the hospital, Isabel's doctor is standing on the roof. She is soon joined by Commissioner Stacy.

"Figured I'd find you up here." Stacy says.

"Not a single plow truck- and it's only getting worse out there. I'm starting to wonder if-" The doctor says.

"You forget the news, the machine gives the heart more time." Stacy says.

"All the extra time means nothing if Spider-Bat doesn't make it back here with Isabel's heart." The doctor says.

"I've worked with Spider-Bat for years now. He's gone up against the worst criminals- in the worst city. He's brought down crime bosses, assassins, giant vampire bats, a secret organization of people dressed as Owls, even aliens. I don't think a storm is gonna stop a man like him. No, Spider-Bat will make it back in time. I know he will." Commissioner Stacy says.

Back with Peter, he slowly wakes up, surrounded by women, including the woman he saved earlier.

"Thank God." The woman says.

"You had us worried, Mr. Spider-Bat." Another woman says.

Peter slowly sits up.

"How'd I get here? And where exactly is here?" Peter asks.

"You're safe. Cold, but safe. You're at Good Samaritan- a shelter for women. You stopped that guy- you saved my life upstairs." The woman says.

"Alice is right. Just how long were you out in this terrible storm?" Another woman asks.

Peter looks over at the high-tech case with the heart still inside. He forces himself to get up from the bed.

"Not long enough." Peter answers while he puts on his shoes.

"What do you think you're doing?" Alice asks.

"Finishing what I started. How long was I out?" Peter asks, grabbing the case.

"Twenty minutes, but you can't. It's gotten even colder than it was before." A woman says.

Peter thinks about everyone that he's let down since being bitten by the Spider that gave him his powers, Gwen, Harry, Jill, Jason, even his parents, but he will not fail this little girl.

"Thank you, for everything. But I can't stop now. Gotta keep moving forward."

Peter then jumps out of the window and keeps moving through the snow storm. Now, his strength is restored and he is more focused, but Peter can barely feel anything.

After a few more minutes pass, Peter finally makes it to the hospital, catching everyone's attention.

"Excuse me, I have a delivery." Peter says.

A nurse quickly takes the case and runs it to Isabel's hospital room. Peter goes over to a wall, sitting down and shivering. Commissioner Stacy soon walks over to him.

"You need to go get warm, you're basically hyperthermic."

"No. Not until I know- that she's going to be ok. I'm not leaving until I know." Peter says.

Stacy nods, understanding his reasoning.

After a long surgery, Isabel's doctor soon comes out, causing Mrs. White and Peter to stand up in anticipation.

"The surgery was a success. Isabel's going to be fine."

As Peter and Commissioner Stacy breathe a sigh of relief, Mrs. White hugs the doctor with tears in her eyes. She then hugs Peter, ignoring how cold his body is.

"Thank you. Thank you so much. You saved my little girl. God bless you, Spider-Bat." She says.

Peter smiles.

"Glad I could help."
