DESTRUCTION

Nick Fury argues with the councils plan to stop the invasion.

"Director Fury, the council has made a decision." One of the Council members says.

"I recognize the council has made a decision. But given that it's a stupid ass decision, I've elected to ignore it."

"Director, you're closer than anyone of our subs, you scramble that jet-"

"That is Metropolis, councilman! Until I'm certain my team can't hold it, I will not order a nuclear strike against a civilian population." Fury says.

"If we don't hold it here, we lose everything."

Fury stands in silence for a moment.

" I send that bird out, we already have." Fury says before hanging up.

Meanwhile as the heroes are faced with Thanoseid, Hal steps up.

"Stand back and peep the light show, I got this."

He creates a giant mechanical fist and flies towards Thanoseid. He hits Thanoseid in the face, but the construct shatters immediately without doing any damage. Thanoseid then lands a powerful punch, sending Hal flying into a wall. The Evil Titan then sends more ParaChitauri at the heroes. As they all take more and more of the creatures out, Hal starts to slowly get back up.

"Ok. Let's try that again."

Hal rushes at with a speeding train that again shatters when it collides with Thanoseid. As he is prepared to vaporize Hal, Captain Krypton throws his shield at his head knocking him off balance. Clark then starts to land hard hitting punches on Thanoseid, but the he grabs by his cape and puts him through the ground.

Hal slowly gets back to his feet.

"Back off old man. I'm not through with him."

He then flies towards him yet again and hits him with a giant sledgehammer. Thanoseid gets annoyed by Hal, grabs his arm and crushes it. Iron Lantern screams out in pain and get thrown to the ground.

Ms. Wonder then charges in with her sword but it instantly cracks on impact on Thanoseid and she gets knocked out of the air.

"Now what?" Mercury asks Peter and Dinah.

"Now. You die." Thanoseid answers.

Thanoseid then charges energy to his hand.

"That doesn't look good." Dinah says.

Thanoseid snaps his fingers, causing an explosion. Captain Krypton quickly shields everyone as the explosion destroys everything.

Peter slowly opens his eyes struggles to get back up. Clark appears infront of him, offering his hand. Peter takes it and gets back to his feet with his help. They both look over at Thanoseid and sees his eyes glowing.

"We're gonna have to move. Fast." Peter says.

"Not a problem for me." Clark replies.

As Thanoseid shoots out lazers Peter web swings away as Captain Krypton flies away.

"They're splitting up. Almost like they're locked on us." Peter says.

The energy beam gets closer to Peter but then he sees a ParaChitauri flying towards him. Peter quickly webs it towards him, jumps off of its back and let's that blast hit it, causing him to fall to the ground cause of the Shockwave. Meanwhile Clark flies all around the city, finally getting hit by the beam and falling out of the sky.

"Captain!" Peter yells.

Two ParaChitauri quickly captures Clark and flies him through a portal. Thanoseid stares at Peter for a moment.

"Impressive. No one has ever avoided my Omega Beam. Perhaps your planet isn't so pathetic after all."

While Thanoseid destroys the city, the rest of our heroes slowly get back to their feet, bruised, bloody, and injured. Peter quickly swings back to where they are.

"They took Captain Krypton. We gotta get him back."

Hal limps towards the portal.

"Get him." Hal says

"Stark." Peter says, trying to stop him.

Hal flies away, not listening. Peter quickly jumps in his way, forcing him to stop.

"Out of my way, Spider-Bat."

Peter notices that Hal can barely move his right arm.

"Your arm is broken, you idiot." Peter says.

Hal puts a robotic arm brace around it, using his ring.

"I can handle it. Now get out of my way."

Hal tries to walk past Peter but the vigilante stops him

"You're gonna die."

Hal throws Peter's hand off.

"Then I die."

"What are you trying to prove?" Peter asks.

"I'm not trying to prove anything! Don't act like you know me, you don't."

Peter stares at Hal for a moment.

"We're just somewhat. Alike." Peter says.

Hal scoffs.

"We are nothing alike."

"We're fighting alongside an alien, an amazon, a speedster, and a Russian spy with a sonic scream. As far as I can tell, Hal, you and I are the only normal people here."

Hal doesn't say anything for a moment.

"You're pretty south of normal, Spooky. You know that, right?"

Peter takes off his mask, revealing his secret identity.

"My name is Peter Parker. When I was a kid, my parents were murderer. I could've stopped it. I wasn't there, but I should've been. I spent the rest of my life training to fight the same sort of criminals that took them from me. But this, this is different. This isn't about me."

"Why are you telling me all this?" Hal asks.

"This is bigger than I am and it's bigger than you are. Get out of your own way. Focus on what's important here. Everyone else. With great power, comes great responsibility. Go regroup with the others."

Peter then walks over and picks up a trench coat.

"And do what exactly?" Hal asks.

"You're loud. They'll listen to you if you got something to say. Try to at least sound smart." Peter replies, putting on the coat.

"I am smart."

Peter smirks, putting on a cap and grabbing Captain Krypton's shield, putting it on his back.

"That's the spirit. Just keep them alive. Keep Thanoseid busy till I get back."

"Get back? From where?"

"We won't win without our big gun."

Peter then crawls up a large rock.

"Where the hell are you going?" Hal asks.

Peter then stands on top of the rock and whistles for a ParaChitauri.

"I'm going to get Captain Krypton."

The ParaChitauri then grabs him and flies him towards the portal they took Clark in.

"Peter Parker, huh? Morons crazier than I am."
