COLD HEARTED

One night in New York City, in a museum, Dr Madsen shows off the bones of the Ultrasaurus, after thirty years of research.

"Looks all your hard work has finally paid off." A news reporter says.

"To be honest, it never felt like work to me." Dr. Madsen replies.

At that moment, rumbling is felt through the building, surprising everyone. As people start to wonder what's going on, the walls begin to be covered with ice and mechanical arms burst through, revealing Doctor Otto Fries Octavius, also known as Dr. Octofreeze. Everyone cowers in fear of the stone cold villain.

"What's going on here? What do you want?" Dr. Madsen asks with her hands up.

Dr. Octavius doesn't answer, looking at the giant bones of the Ultrasaurus that were recently discovered.

"It's beautiful. So sad you have to lose it." He says.

Dr. Madsen is stunned, realizing what he means.

"There isn't an archeological institution in the world that would by a stolen fossil. This wouldn't be worth anything to you." She tells him.

The Mad doctor then turns to her.

"To me, no. But it's worth everything to you, isn't it? I did not come here to steal bones, Dr. Madsen. I came to steal hope." Octavius says.

He then blasts the fossil with his cold gun and makes Dr. Madsen watch as her dream crumbles before her eyes.

"No!" She yells, with tears in her eyes.

Octavius goes to walk away but she asks him one question.

"Why? Why?"

Octavius continues walking, with a cold expression on his face.

"Why not?" He replies.

A few nights later, at New York City's Tricitenial, Peter Parker(With Andrea Watson on his arm) is there talking with Commissioner Stacy and Jill Stacy about Octavius's recent actions.

"And there it was, right on Tv, Dr. Octavius just destroyed one of the greatest archeological discovery of our life time." Peter says.

Andrea leans over to whisper to Jill.

"He's been like this for two days straight. It's the nerd in him." Andrea says.

"I am curious though. What does Otto Octavius have to gain by destroying a bunch of bones?" Jill asks.

"That's the question all right. Wish I had the answer." Commissioner Stacy says.

At that moment, the head of the event steps on stage.

"Ladies and gentlemen, today marks the beginning of New York City's Tricentennial celebration. In honor of the event, the New York City council has commissioned this work of art. Allow me to present to you, Twilight in New York."

As the beautiful painting is unveiled, everyone claps at the amazing art work. The artist who created the artwork comes on stage, with tears in his eyes and a smile on his face.

"Thank you, Thank you. You have made the struggle worthwhile." The artist says.

At that moment, Peter's Spider-Sense goes off. He looks around for the danger, but it soon comes in the form of Dr. Octofreeze crashing through the ceiling.

"And I shall make it worth nothing." Octavius says, making his way on the stage.

"Please tell me you have your other suit." Andrea whispers to Peter.

"Never leave home without it." Peter replies

He then, very carefully, sneaks out of the room. In the hallway, Peter takes off his tie, unbutttons his shirt to reveal the Spider-Bat symbol.

Meanwhile, Octavius stares at the painting.

"Technique is extraordinary. How long did it take you to develop it? Five years? Ten? A lifetime?" Octavius asks, aiming his cold gun at the painting.

The artist quickly steps infront of the gun.

"No. No, please. I'm too old. I can't paint another."

Octavius easily moves the artist out of his way.

"Yes. It's a pity."

Before he can blast the painting, Spider-Bat swings in and kicks Dr. Octofreeze away.

"What's the matter, freeze, not a fan of art?" Peter asks.

Octavius gets back to his feet and launches his mechanical arms at Peter. The hero quickly and effortlessly flips and maneuvers around them. Peter quickly throws Batarangs while up in the air, but Octavius freezes them, then grabs Peter by the face and slams him into the wall.

While Octavius is distracted, Commissioner Stacy, Andrea, and Jill help evacuate everyone and the artist quickly moves is painting out of the way.

Peter manages to free himself, then webs the front of Octavius's head ceiliender. Otto easily takes it off with one of his mechanical arms, then launches another attack Peter.

"What's your game, Freeze? First the fossil, now the painting? I'm not seeing the pattern." Peter says while avoiding Octavius's arms.

"It's none of your concern, Arachnid. Just know that people with experience my pain." Octavius says.

Octofreezes arms then turn into propeller blades and he swings them at Spider-Bat. Peter quickly moves out of the way again, causing Octavius to cut a chandelier down right over Jill and Andrea's heads. Peter quickly dives down, webs the ceiling, then the chandelier, holding it in place.

"Move, now." Peter says.

Andrea and Jill quickly moves, as Peter sits the chandelier on the ground. The hero swings through the now empty building, avoiding Ice blasts and mechanical arms while doing so. He then launches himself at Octavius, kicking him through a window. While outside, Octavius grabs Peter by his waist and slams him into the ground over and over again. He then picks up a barely conscious Peter by the leg, preparing to finish him off with the cold gun.

"What are you waiting for?" Peter asks.

Freeze stares at Spider-Bat for a moment.

"Not this time. Not this way."

He soon sees the artist with his painting, tossing Peter aside and blasting the art work with his cold gun. As the artist drops to his knees, crying, Octavius sends a message to everyone.

"Search your hearts for the thing you value most. Then despair, for I have come to take it from you."

When more police officers show up, Octavius quickly leaves the scene while Peter slowly makes it back to his feet.

As Commissioner Stacy tries to comfort the sobbing artist, both he and Spider-Bat share a look, both puzzled by Dr. Octofreeze's recent actions.
