Chapter 6: Following Rules

I sat at the top of a tree, watching the village children play. I was ng on the tree, smiling at the innocent children. They didn't know anything, they were obliged to grow up the way they did. If my mother didn't stop me from being a cannibal, I wouldn't have been different. I had never taken any meat in my life, except fish fruit and vegetables, nothing more. I averted my eyes to the sky and looked at the clouds, the beautiful shapes they formed.

The clouds slowly turned black, thunder rumbling in it. I looked down at the children as they ran away, running for shelter. The cloud was so dark that one would think that it was almost night. The rain suddenly poured down on me without restrictions, making me jerk up.

" Open your eyes you bitch"! I opened my eyes flustered and confused. I blinked at the tall woman shouting about this and that. A smaller woman was behind her, leaning on the barn door, observing me; observing my wounds. I thought at first they were some randomly picked wolves that were assigned to regularly check those in captivity just like me and others here. I was interrupted in my thoughts when spoke.

" Who punched your eye? She finally asked.

" Is that what you are bothered about? We have an important task to do here rather than caring for that mere barbarian " The tall woman shouted again.

" Yes, that is why am bothered. Alpha Kale gave a strict instruction that no one should touch her. Who punched you?

" What did I tell you, she's probably snubbing you, don't waste your time on her if she doesn't feel like speaking, " Another woman said.

" No, she doesn't". The guy that punched me said, looking at me warningly.

" Well, it doesn't matter. If he finds out, she tried to commit suicide by stabbing her eyes', The tall woman said.

" This isn't where the alpha ordered that she should be kept, he said that she should be kept in the lowest slave manor, not the lowest slave house!' the lady said making me develop a little liking for her.

" She belongs here," the tall lady said blatantly. The smaller woman that was trying to defend me fooled her arms under her breast.

" One mind link, that's is all it takes to get his ass down here. Are you trying to challenge my authority, Keisha ?' Oh, the tall woman is Keisha. Keisha bowed her head in respect, they all did. What was her position in this pack that made others including the so-called Keisha bowed to her? I tilted my head.

" Get her cleaned, changed into a better uniform and sent to the Lowest slave house. Place her with Carina, Giselle and Hagar. So just try to question me anymore or disobey, I'll have you destroyed ", she threatened.

The other wolves were just deadpanned and never moved as she dished out orders and commanded authority.

" Yes Becca ", they replied in unison.

" Justin, carry her", Keisha grumbled. I kept quiet as I walked like a can of sardine out of the cell. Two maids bathe and put me in new clothes; a dress they called plain yellow and red maxi dress and flats. They were quite annoyed when I refused to let my hair fall for a little wash. I was talking to a house, poor but better than the cell. There were three beds in my room; one bolted to the wall above the opposite bed's wall, poorly made sheets but better than the cell. My bedsheet was black, an insult to me. I threw myself on the bed and slept off, ignoring the pain in my eyes and drowning my thoughts in Kale.

"Wake up wake up sunshine!' someone shouted. I groaned and opened my eyes, a terrible headache greeting me. I sighed and moaned with pain. " Here", the person said softly. " It would kill the headache faster. Are you feeling much pain

" I sure will, if I were you" I looked at her; short, small, cute, tan with hazel brown eyes and blonde hair. I smiled at her and took the drug from her and swallowed it.

" My name is Carina, what's your name?' i didn't reply to her. " Oh, I heard you don't talk. Anyways, it's time to work You have been sleeping for three days and I have been covering up your chores so no one would bother you, good huh ?' i nodded.

" We are like maids here, the lowest rank of maids. The lowest ranks here and well, you".

" What do we do? I asked in curiosity.

" We sweep, brush dust, wax, polish, wash, do the animals stuff, wash the toilet, windows, doors, feed animals and do everything. We don't wash the higher ranked wolves clothes, they believe we have germs on us and can infect them with our diseases. Their words, not mine. You are not allowed to look or smell good, you will get killed that happened.

Whenever a wolf looks at you, bow your head and don't fight back when they talk, you'll get raped. Avoid the female in the house, especially the untamed ones and please, avoid the alpha at all cost. Luckily for you, he hates you and he ordered that you be kept away from his sight.

Wheels asked.

You get to bathe only when you start smelling like rotten flesh and we eat once a day. But you are a good and obedient maid, you will get leftovers to fill up your other meals. Also, you can attract one of the high ranked males and become his sex toy, he will place a seal on you. Other female males and higher shifter maids won't hurt or bully you.

" You want one, right? She asked excitedly. I stared at her. " You don't want to get one? Your loss.

" What else? I asked her. " Never complain or you'll get punished by starvation or given to the territory guard to enjoy for the night.
