First Day's a Lucky Charm, Right?

Nova's POV:

"Ugh, Mom why did it have to be today?!" I look at my mom with a nervous face. She simply

sighs and turns her head to face the little demon girl I am. "Sweetie, there's nothing to be so

afraid of. I remember being a nervous train wreck on my first day of school as well, but in the end

I managed to get used to it. Besides, what did your father assure to you the other day?" Oh I

remember exactly what she's talking about. " Oh right, he said that as long as I remember each

and every detail about every species he's taught me about and knowing the right words to say to

them, then I'll be sure to get along with the different students around me". Mom gives me that

warm loving smile as we park the car in the school parking lot and get off. " Now are you sure

you've got everything with you, sweetie?" I check and make sure every single thing I need is there

with me. Alright let's see: school supplies, check, lunchbox, check, PE uniform, check. Yep I'm

pretty sure I've got all that I need. "Yep,everything is all clear, Mom". I give her my signature

toothy demon smile. She laughs as we walk into the building entrance where we see many other

monster girls being dropped off by their parents. "Well Mom, I guess this is it". Man I'm really

gonna miss Mom, but at least she'll be picking me up by the end of the day. " Alright sweetie,

have an amazing first day of school". She kisses my forehead and leaves along with many other

parents. I walk into the building that says Evertree Green Elementary School for Girls on it. Boy,

this place is sure going to be interesting. Inside the entrance I see many students of many

species walking to their homeroom classes. I take out my schedule and it says to go to Mrs.

Blindsworth's homeroom class. Hmm, I wonder what she may be like as I reach the classroom.

Inside I see many different students each with very unique features I've never seen around my

age before. It seems like my desk is Number 5, near the class window. Sweet, I get the best spot

that any student could ever have in a classroom. I look at the desk next to mine to see a very

greenish girl with slimy hair. "Um, hey there, I'm Nova Asier. You must be an amoeba humanoid I

assume". Aww man now I feel so stupid for asking her that question. Now she's probably going to

think I'm a demon dork or something. "Uh, y-yeah I'm an amoeba girl. M-my name is Bubbles,

Bubbles Von Blast". "Well I sure hope we have a great first day". All of a sudden we hear the sound

of someone hitting their head on the door. Ouch, that's gotta hurt more than your tail being

stepped on. "Yowzers, sorry about that children. Nearly had a heart attack trying to make it to the

right room". Wow, what a great first on the class, woman. "Anyways, my name is Mrs. Blindsworth

and I'll be your homeroom teacher this year. This is the year where all of you get a chance to show

the real you for all the older students to see. And remember, the differences that are held within all

species are what make all of us one very big happy family. Today, we'll all be attending the special

opening ceremony that will be taking place in the auditorium, but before we do that, you all get

to customize their own crowns to show off at the ceremony! Be sure to have them ready by 8:30.

I can't wait to see the creativity in your artwork". I can tell why her name is Mrs. Blindsworth. She

literally has no eyeballs! But about the crowns, what am I gonna make? "Hey Bubs, do you have any

idea what your gonna do?" Bubbles looks like she's got a whole art supply kit ready to use. "Oh

y-yeah I was planning to make my crown look like someone tried to pour slime all over it." Well

that explains the 10 bottles of glue I see on her desk. Alright I gotta think of something. Oh I

know, now this is gonna best the best crown I'll ever make as a five year old. Just need some

glue, feathers, yarn, and other supplies. "I'm lucky enough to receive this magic art bag from

Auntie Luna for my birthday last year". I pull out the supposedly small bag that says "Beauty

Goes On Forever" on it. "Woah, what's inside that thing?" "Oh wait till you see for yourself, Bubs.

Together this whole class is gonna have the most epic crown designs". "You really believe so? I

mean I've heard that the big kids have like really cool designs for their crowns compared to

younger students, especially Petra Stone's rock castle crown from two years ago". " Don't worry,

Bubbles. With our creativity and the power of imagination, we'll be sure to make crowns that'll

outwit the big kids' crowns". "Are you sure that all of us can do it", a new voice says and I turn

around to see a lamia with a purple pinkish tail behind my desk. "Oh s-s-sorry I didn't mean to

interrupt your conversation. My name's Viper Tree, but everyone calls me Vi for s-short." "Oh no

worries you didn't bug anyone. Wait is that a lamia insult? Ugh man I thought this first day was

gonna be a charm for me." Wouldn't we all wish that the first day of school would be a charm,

Bubbles. "Besides, what on earth can be cooler than a gorgon castle when you can combine a

whole bunch of..... wait a minute that's a brilliant plan, you guys!" "Huh?" "Think about it, if we

combine the different art styles that make up as many species as we can, then we'll be sure to

gain a big rep from the big kids". "You know, t-that's not too bad of an idea, right Vi?" "S-s-sweet

plan, Red and Slimy." " Hey, I'm not a slime! I'm an amoeba humanoid!" Well that's probably

going to get older than Aztec civilization in the human world. "Well, what are we wait for? Let's

get to work!" "Yeah!" Now this is the part where we literally have to walk, or slither if you're like

Vi, to other students and do two things. One, which is asking them about their crown designs to

get good info on them, and two, help them out so that the designs can look even more epic than

ever. From snow, to leaves, to even body stitches, we are sure to have the best class of opening

ceremony crowns. Like Mom said, it's always good to give your best when it comes to new

peeps, especially at a new school. I just have to say, now that we're done, judging by everyone's

crowns, we are gonna look so awesome at the opening ceremony! "Wow class, what such

creative crowns you all have, especially yours, Asier." Eek! How am I supposed to react to THAT

kind of compliment from a TEACHER?! " Oh, t-thanks Mrs. Blindsworth." "Your welcome. Now

class, we've got ourselves a ceremony to attend." "Yay!" We walk through the hallway and Mrs.

Blindsworth's name is called to introduce her new students to the rest of the school in the

auditorium. "N-Nova, I'm a tad bit n-nervous." "Me too, do you really think they'll like our crowns-

s-s?" "Don't worry guys, we're gonna be fine. Just calm down and relax." Right after I say that,

we've now got the entire school looking at us with lots of gasps and awes. One girl in particular

stood out from the biggest of kids. She had several grey snakes that look like her hair and she's

wearing the latest pair of blinder's glasses from Speckle Spectacles. Trust me, that store's got the

best glasses for many different species. Wait a minute, that must be Petra Stone! "Hey Bubs, isn't

that the Stone girl you were telling me, well us about", I ask her. " Oh my goddess, yeah that is

her. I know about her because her dad works at Speckle Spectacles." " Wait, who in your family

needs s-s-spectacles?" "Uh it's best that you find out some other time." That's true, considering

it's the first day and there are literally thousands of other girls looking at us. "Looks like Mrs.

Blindsworth is done with her s-s-speech. I think that s-s-snake haired girl wants to see us." It

doesn't seem like a joke. Three of those snakes of hers look like they want to slither us all the way

to her with those really thin pupils of theirs. We walk down from the stage and the said gorgon

walks right towards the three of us. "Wow, I didn't believe that I could ever witness such talent

and diversity within the opening ceremony crowns of any new student in my life. You girls sure

got some gifts inside of you." "Oh it's no problem, Petra. Besides if whenever would've met or

worked together, you probably never would've seen this coming." Congrats Bubs that's the first

time I ever hear you speak without even having the urge to stutter."Well I hope all of you have a

great time while you're here. For that I leave you be and wish you luck."With that she heads over

to her little group of monster pals. Mrs. Blindsworth walks over to us with a bucket of peppy

pupcorn in her possession. "So girls, are you having a great first day so far?" "Yeah!" " We even

got complemented by t-the one and only Petra Stone!" "Aah Stone, I remember when I had her

as part of my homeroom three years ago?" "Wait, so you had her as a student?" "Yep she was

quite the kiddo who would always help inspire other students to embrace themselves and help

them get used to life around this school. I still miss having her and her friends as students, but a

monster's gotta grow up as time flies. Well, we'll be heading back to class once the tiny finger

the day." Is it The Blob? No wait, is it the Creature of the Black Lagoon?" " No I think by classic she

has to mean movies that are way older than that, like Nosferatu or Frankenstein." "You'll have to

wait and see when the time comes. Well, I'll see you girls in class. This teach has got herself a

juicy snack to fetch." "Uh, I really hope she doesn't mean blood. There's other s-s-species

around here." "Well whatever movie or snack the teach is getting, we sure had a blast today

didn't we. Friends?" We all join for what I call a spit shake. It's when you spit on your hand and

shake with other hands. "Go Monster Gals!" "Hey t-that actually fits." Vi and I laugh at Bubbles'

statement as we enjoy the rest of the fest even if it meant watching Mrs. Blindsworth try to use

gummy eyeballs for actual eyes. You were right about today, Mom. I sure am gonna have quite

big adventures here at school, and who knows, we could even find more adventures outside of

school too.
