CHAPTER 10

 Annabel asked them to stay at her house for dinner, a decision Lith firmly refused which caused a lot of angry glares from the fatty as well as a pinch, it wasn`t that he lacked food, its just that he had an insatiable quest for food. 

 After they left, Lith noticed that the fatty wanted to talk many times but closed his mouth in resignation. 

 "What`s on your mind, just say it" 

 Indeed, it was true that Tommy wanted to talk, but after the event that happened at Annabel`s house, he really couldn`t find the courage within himself to say what`s on his mind. 

 However, Lith's words had given him the opportunity he was looking for. 

 "Do you remember the party I told you that was to hold at Nova 33 event center, the day of anticipation is finally here, there would be an abundance of beautiful girls to pick from, best of liquor, just anything you wish for, I have come to realize I have a thing for blonde girls, who knows, you might meet the person who can create butterflies in your belly". Tommy began to speak without holding back, he had been holding his thoughts all these while, he finally saw an opportunity to let it out.

 "I happen to have some important things to do this night, probably next time" Lith said. The so called "important things" was basically his personal reading time. If he says its an important thing, then it is an important thing. In as much as he wanted to feel the fun and the pleasure in going to events, he feared that it was not the right time and that it would only lead to his destruction if he ventured into those things in his first year.

 Although, he had escaped this party, he had placed himself in a trap. Tommy definitely wouldn`t allow him to escape with a flimsy excuse next time. He would need a much more viable excuse to escape next time.

 No traces of the previous tiredness could be seen on Tommy`s face as just the anticipation of the upcoming party made his blood boil. 

 Lith and Tommy parted ways as Lith went to the dormitory. The day had been really stressful. Teaching isn`t really as easy as people made it look like, you needed a solid knowledge of the subject matter as as you couldn`t predict the questions you would be asked, you couldn`t skip any part no matter how complex it is.

 It was easy to prepare for a topic you were to teach however, answering questions were a different matter entirely. You needed to be able to view it from different perspectives and read so deeply into the subject matter. After all, you couldn`t predict where the questions would come from.

 Lith was feeling immense pressure right now, once you were known to be intelligent, its more like a responsibility as the only way was forward. Everyone had high expectations of him which had given him a reputation to preserve. Everyone expects him to keep getting better academically while it actually gets tougher. 

 Although Lith was an unparalleled genius, it wasn`t to the extent where he could party all night long and still expect A`s in his courses, if he really wanted his grades to keep getting higher or at least maintain it, it looked like he would be forced to miss out on a lot of fun. 

 After a while, Lith got to the dormitory, he was relieved seeing Carl in the dormitory as he had feared an unfortunate thing could have happened to him. It looked all his worries were for nothing after all.

 Seeing Carl in good mood, anyone with half a brain will be able to infer that his disappearance had something to do with Luna. 

 "Seems like she had finally accepted his proposal or at least, the relationship has improved by leaps and bounds" Lith inferred from his smiling face. 

 "Guess what guys, she finally agreed on a date with me, and since we have gone on many dates, I love every moment I spend with her, I wish she can be un my arms for eternity" he said.

 Lith was quite surprised as he hadn`t expected that carl had this side of him. Seeing Carl in this state was making him remember a lot of opportunities he missed in college. 

 Lith had always been a very intelligent boy, he had a two-year streak of being ahead of his mates in any competition, the walls of his room were decorated with numerous awards. He had so much that once the idea of selling some crossed his mind, obviously, it was only a passing thought, he didn`t follow up with such a plan.

 Many beautiful girls had confessed their love to him, but he turned all of them down without the slightest hesitation. However, seeing Carl all smiles and the words of Tommy were making him really question his decisions then.

 It was true that they probably were going to be distractions then but he wasn`t getting any younger. It really won`t be a nice experience to recount and remember if he passed through college like a snake climbing a rock- leaving no mark. Maybe it was time to loosen up just a little bit. 

 "I assume you have been sleeping at her house all this while since you have been absent for a few nights, be careful because once a rumor sprouts, it spreads like wildfire. Also, do you think you are the only one who loves this girl". Derek suddenly said.

 Carl felt as if a bucket of cold water had been poured on his head. Derek had just said the worries he buried deep down in his heart.

 Lith gave Derek a look which said "this was not the best time to say this" but Derek only shrugged in response. He knew he was going to ruin the mood but he didn`t want Carl to get complacent and too happy causing irreparable damages.
