042 Fighting Beast 2

Before they could recollect themselves and rest for a bit, yet another monster had appeared.

"Another one? And this one is also at the fifth human realm, why are so many strong beasts coming here, I really hope a sixth human realm beast doesn't appear." Aria said.

"Don't jinx us." Peter said annoyed.

"Ralph, you rest for a bit, I still have energy. I'm expecting a little help from Olivia." Liam said.

"Sure, let's kill this oversized parrot." Olivia said.

The two were getting ready to fight the red and yellow parrot that was coming towards them. It was 2 meters tall and it was flying towards them at great speeds. Liam stood in front of it and prepared his water burst torpedo. As he threw it towards the bird, the parrot became a flamethrower as a constant barrage of flames came from its mouth. A loud sizzling sound was heard and a small cloud of steam went up.

"I have an idea, wait a few moments." Liam said as he began to throw slash after slash at the parrot, but the slashes were for some reason weak and couldn't even get close to it. The parrot would always spit flames and turn it into water vapor.

"This is not enough." Liam looked at the steam clouds above the parrot, that had begun to pile up.

Liam summoned spheres of water and threw them at the bird, who agai just vaporized them.

"What is he trying to do, he is just wasting his energy. Can't he see that his attacks can't reach the beast?" Olivia and the others were confused.

After throwing a few more spheres of water, seat began to show on Liam's face.

"A little more!" he shouted.

As he continued to throw out the pointless attacks.

"Not yet!" He continued.

By now the steam above was like a dense fog as one could no longer see the sky above, for some reason it was not clearing up.

"And now! Olivia, hold the beast for a second!" He shouted at her.

Olivia did not question his command as she had no idea what was happening. Two vines extended from the ground and wrapped around the feet of the beast, it then pulled it to the ground not letting it escape.

"Perfect." Liam concentrated as even more sweat began to show on his face and his strained expression showed how difficult what he was currently doing was.

All of the dense steam from above, that had been building up for the past half an hour, in one moment returned back to water. It seemed as if there was a whole pool of water above and all of it was formed into a thousand spikes all aimed at the parrot that Olivia was holding down.

In that very same second, that everything happened, Liam had formed the thousand spikes, they were sharp as a razor but 2 meters long.

They all descended at great speeds, aiming for the beast. The parrot recognized the incoming danger and spit its flames, trying to vaporize the spikes, but a thousand was too much for it. Hundreds of spikes impaled its body. For a moment it looked like a pillow made for holding needles or someone undergoing heavy acupuncture.

The next second the water needles disappeared into a large muddy puddle on the ground.

"How did you do that? If you were that strong, why didn't you enter the top 1000, heck you could probably even manage the top 500." Olivia said.

I could never create that much water all at once, not to mention I could never control it viably in a fight. I was lucky that the beast was cocky and continued to vaporize my attacks and not really attack back, letting the steam build up on my command and when I was ready I had you hold it down. Otherwise, it would have dodged the attack. I don't have the power to move that much water effectively. I mostly just amplified the gravity." Liam explained.

"It's still pretty impressive." Olivia cemented.

"Yes, you've grown so much, remember when you were beat by a cultivator a realm bellows you." Ralph laughed at Liam.

"Shut up, that was just a fluke." Liam laughed back. In the few weeks he had been here, he had really improved a lot.

Just as the friends were laughing a bit more, two more beasts had come.

"Why are they still coming, I removed the swamp puddle when the parrot came. Are these beasts attracted from way before and now just continued to head this way? Does this mean beasts will continue to come?

"We have to run!" Liam said. Ralph looked at Liam and he looked where the puddle was, he threw a confused look at Liam, but when he saw the worried look on his face, he turned around and decided to tell the others the same thing.

"Let's run, we can't beat two fifth human realm beasts when were this tired." Ralph said. He knew that they could probably win, but he saw the worried look on Liam's face.

Why run, these are woodpeckers of the wood element, I need their beast crystal. That is the whole point of this expedition. We have been lucky to encounter this many beasts, what are we going to do when for the rest of the expedition we encounter no more, because we fled from this great spot." Olivia was set on fighting.

Ralph looked towards Liam to see what he wanted to do. "Let's fight, but after this we run." Liam said.

"Agreed, we need rest." Ralph said.

Peter, who had done nothing the whole time, even Aria who despised fighting, helped out with Molly, but he. He was the only one who had done nothing the whole time.

"I am an alchemist; I am not meant for fighting. But I am still at the fifth human realm, I should help." Peter found himself in a conundrum, he didn't know if he should fight or not. When he saw how the other's fought and thought about his range of abilities. He really was disheartened.

"Me and Ralph are the most spent, I expect you two do the most and we'll just help out where we can." Liam said to Olivia.

"No problem, I have a plan." She said.

"Liam, I saw how fast you could move, I just want you to run around them, no need for anything else, just attract their attention." Olivia said, Liam nodded and began to head towards the two-meter-tall woodpeckers, who were ignoring them and just looking around confused.

"Ralph, you can do the most damage, I will weaken their defenses and tire them out, but I'll need you to put in the finishing blow." Olivia said.

"I can do that; I'll just rest a bit more for now." Ralph said, he then sat down on a rock and observed how the two of them planned to fight.

Liam did what Olivia had said and he continued to around the two woodpeckers, he now had their attention and they were trying to hit him with their beak.

Olivia from behind, made a circle of sharp logs aimed towards the two birds, as some wall that inhibited them from going in those directions. Liam saw what Olivia had done and wondered why. They were birds after all, they can fly. Though he did not question much.

Olivia remained close to the wall, but did not enter inside of it, then in the small space in between each of the logs, long and thick vines appeared.

They all seemed to be able to move independently and Like whips they started attacking the two birds. One after another, the birds got whipped by the vines. They wanted to destroy the vines, but the upper part of them moved too fast, while the root of them was protected by the sharp logs, not allowing them to get close enough.

One of the birds had had enough, and wanted to fly away from the top, but that very moment when it looked away from the vines, four of the vines grabbed the bird. One on each leg and wing, the vines then violently brought the bird and slammed it into the ground. The other bird did not seem to have learnt from watching the first and attempted the same feat, only to get the same result.

Liam watched on at what happened to the birds, it was pretty horrifying.

"This is the power of someone in the top 1000 not even the top 100. She can make two fifth human realm beast completely unable to do anything to her." Liam looked at Olivia who just stood there with a concentrated look towards the birds.

"Though it took her some time to set this up, and I had to keep them in small area. And if they had fire like the parrot, they could just burn the vines and would have no need to get close to them. But even with those drawbacks, it's still pretty impressive." Liam continued to observe the two birds who continued to get whipped.
