Running Wild

"Come on Troy, it's really dark here" a girl said walking through the forests within the walls of stone edge.

"It's fine Rose, look at this spot over here" the boy said, looking at a waterfall that connects with a river. The spot was really something out of a fairytale.

"Wow this is really pretty Troy" she said in administration. The boy quickly got close to the girl pressing his body against hers this made Ross blush.

And in a matter of seconds they both locked into a passionate kiss. That would make anyone that saw them jealous.

But the kiss stopped once they heard a branch snap. They both looked in the direction of the sound.

"What was that, a beast?" The girl said fearing for her life.

"That's not possible, there are no beasts on the stone edge," Troy said.

But the sound now was behind them. They turned around and saw nothing. The sound was heard once ahi behind them. They twisted their bodies everywhere they heard the sound.

The fear started to set in them.until suddenly a light hit their eyes.

"Hands in the air" a soldier with a M16 shouted.

Another came from behind them aiming at them as well but with a gun that looked to be for tranquilizers. "We're students here" the boy shouted with his eyes closed showing his watch.

The soldiers then aim their guns to the ground. He then radioed someone. "Just students keep looking for the objective," one of them said.

Troy noticed something weird about the bullets the soldiers had charged on the M16. Since it was a clear mag, the bullets were glowing green.

"What are those bullets?" Troy asked with a troubled face.

"None of your business now you two get.." the soldier said before being interrupted. His face turned dark as he saw a creature standing 9 feet tall behind his partner who was now in the air with claws sticking out of his chest vomiting blood.

Troy and Rose also turned around and saw this huge creature. The white fur that covered its muscular body was stained with blood, the claws that it used to kill one of the soldiers were razor sharp but his eyes were like the perfect shade of red, not too bright but not too dark.

His snout slightly opened revealing razor sharp canines from where saliva was falling. It was a creature straight out of a nightmare.

It looked straight at the students and soldiers before it roared with all its might.it threw the body of the soldiers which crashed on a tree.

The students ran to seek shelter behind the one that should protect them. But the soldier didn't wait for them to clear out of the way; he just aimed at the creature and started shooting.

Each bullet that was shot made a very loud bang. And when impacting on the creature it created a shock wave. Pushing the creature back with each bullet.

"Is that magic?" Troy said, looking at how the gun performed.

Rose bit the bottom of her lips recognizing the guns. "It's a prototype weapon that can be infused with magic like our soul weapons. My parents were working on them. This should be enough to kill or at least stop that creature"

The creature after enduring 10 bullets stopped retracting as if it had grown accustomed to the power behind it. This brought shock to the students and the soldier who quickly changed strategy. He released his magical aura.

The pressure was overwhelming and the students couldn't even stand up.

"This power it's at least of an A Rank" Troy said but in reality this soldier was only a High B rank which is considerably weaker than even a low A rank.

The man stretched his hands forward and suddenly wood started emerging from the ground and started to hit the creature trying to slow it down. Some of the wood started to wrap around the creature's legs pulling it down but it didn't stop it.

"Ahhhhh" the soldier screamed as more wood started to wrap the ahile body of the creature. Legs, waist, shoulders, arms and head.

He then created a sphere around the creature to secure it.

The soldier was breathing heavily as he had to use too much to stop this creature. "This creature is atleast a warrior tier if not a king" the soldier said.

Something that bothered him was that this creature looked humanoid but there has never been a report about such creatures.

"Are they evolving?" This had the soldier worried.

He then turned around and told the students to get to the dorms quickly. But just before the ground shock, they all looked back at the sphere it was cracking.

"What?"

The soldier then tried to cover the sphere with more wood but it was not strong enough. The creature bursted out of the wood.

"Get back!"

But it was too late the soldier was slashed cleanly in half. The creature then ripped the heart of the soldier out and ate it whole. The moon shone down on the creature to make it look more terrifying than before.

The creature then licked its claws as if it had enjoyed its meal but then his eyes landed on the two students. The girl couldn't help it but scream and it was the last thing that was heard that night

The next morning Kai woke up and prepared himself for class. But when he entered the dorm the students/recruits were lined up while a special ops soldier in military black combat armor was doing what seemed to be a student headcount.

"What's going on?" Kai asked. A girl approached him with red hair and green eyes. She had an athletic build. Her skin was flawless and her face seemed to be made by angels. She was almost as attractive as Darya.

"Didn't you hear that apparently there was an accident with two students found dead along with two special ops soldiers" the beautiful girl said.

But this news rang alarms in Kai's head. He remembered what LTC. Black said to him when he arrived that those who were in the special ops were among the strongest in this country.

"By the way my name is Layla" she extended her hand towards Kai.

Which he accepted he suddenly felt heat on his hand but not enough to get hurt. He looked at Layla closer, seeing her unique hair and green eyes.

"You're related to Abel aren't you?" This brought a smile on Layla's face.

"Well yes but don't worry I hold no grudge against you. I'm more like my father while Abel and Cain are like my mother" she said smiling.

Still Kai didn't let his guard down. "Cain?" He asked as he wanted to know more about a potential enemy.

"Our older brother Cain is the new rising star of the Black family that's becoming captain soon? And will challenge the current 50th ranker for his place?" She said surprised Kai didn't know her brother.

But the fact was that Darya had warned him about Cain but didn't tell him his name or this much information.

"You know he will come for you right? Father is trying to delay him as much as possible but Cain will find a way. Although it should be difficult to say Father is a LTC" this surprised Kai.

" Wait LTC Black as in head of the rookies in stone edge is your father?" Kai said

"Well yes why do you think Abel is such a brat, but don't worry Father is not angered by your action he knows you didn't start the fight" Layla said this calmed a little Kai's concerns.

He didn't know how he would fare against Cain but the LTC was a different story.

In the middle of their conversation a special ops soldier came and asked to scan their watches. They both compiled and that was that.

"So you heading to class right well, see you later Kai" she said as she walked away.
