Moving Mistakes

Stella woke up in a hospital bed with one of the doctors studying her arm. She quickly noticed that the taint had reached her elbow with some of the veins in her arm glowing a faint light purple.

"Miss, where am I currently?"Stella asked

"The Dian Cecht familia's pharmacy. What did you get infected by?"The lady asked

"It's quite rude to ask personal questions without knowing the person."Stella responded

"Ah, My name is Airmid your doctor. I already know your name, your familia members told me."

"Now that we know each other would you answer the question?."Airmid asked with anger seeping through

"I don't think that's how this works?"

"Stella just tell her. She cant treat you without knowing."Loki said as she walked in

"I think I told you before Goddess Loki, but there wasn't a treatment for the taint."Stella stated

"Just do it, Airmid is the best healer she might know a way." Loki replied

Stella went on to explain to Airmid what the taint was, although at the same time Stella was thinking about how to cure it herself. After the close call in the dungeon, she likely wouldn't go back in without a way to counter the taint.

"I don't think I can help, after hearing about it from you and from looking at it myself it's more like a parasite than a disease. There is also no mana coming from it so I can't kill it by using its mana."Airmid said

Airmid left soon after telling them to leave now that she wasn't injured, so they headed back to the Twilight Manor.

"So are you going to tell me why the taint grew so much, you did say that it would only grow when you used it after all."Loki asked

"I made my way down into the dungeon and while I was on floor 15 I took a wrong turn, and ended up in a new part of the dungeon."

"I explored it finding some new monsters, and a staircase down. I retreated after attempting to exploring but it proved a lot harder to leave than I thought."

"I didn't have the energy to go back up so I went down in an attempt to get to floor 18."Stella explained

"So you thought that exploring a new section of the dungeon by yourself was a good idea?"Loki asked

"Well, I was thinking about how much the guild would end up paying me for the data."Stella admitted

"You aren't allowed back in the dungeon until you find a party member."Loki firmly stated

"Fine, but when you get back can you update my status? I'd like to know if nearly dying was worth it."Stella asked

"Ill think about it, but remember what I said no dungeon till you find a party member."

POV change

I made my way up into my room and sat down on the bed that I had bought from Vish after I destroyed my last one. I wasn't against having a party member but I didn't want to have to explain my secrets to them.

Most of the other members of the familia were either too high level or already in a party, so I couldn't get people that I could trust. Even if I found someone I still needed to find a way to cure the taint before I would try to enter again.

I decided to look at what I had brought back from the dungeon at least while thinking of a solution. From the new part of floor 15, I had some gunpowder that the creepers dropped, the bones and arrows from the skeletons. I also had spiders silk and spider eyes, along with the quartz I gathered.

As I was looking around the room for inspiration I saw that the silverwood and the shimmerleaf had similar aspects, and now that I thought about it shimmerleaf grew near silverwood trees.

I decided to work with that and see if I could get shimmerleaf to mimic the purity effect of silverwood trees, after all, it would be much simpler to carry around the small plant than a sapling.

After more alchemy than Id like to admit, I had figured out a way to make a plant that had a similar effect, it wasn't a painless process though it needed some of the tainted blood I had to get it to work, I named this plant the Ethereal Bloom.

Even if the effects were similar, I still only had seeds rather than plants. That was solved after a little testing with the bones I had gathered, by crushing them into a paste and then infusing vis they could speed up the growth of plants although not by much.

While I was making the ethereal bloom I realized that alchemy was a very wasteful process, I would often have extra essentia leftover that would bubble off as flux. To try to fix this I designed a new workstation that would allow me to boil materials into raw essentia.

Unfortunately, this machine needed a lot of space, which my room did not provide enough of so I decided to go and buy a building that I could convert into a lab.

After a day or 2 of searching, I found a super cheap place, it had everything I needed a large storage area, a few different workrooms, and a nice big greenhouse attached to the back. The insides were a little rundown but it wasn't anything I couldn't get fixed.

I bought the place and soon figured out why it was so cheap, it was really close to Folkvangr, the Freya familia's headquarters. The guy selling it didn't tell me that it was a few doors down but I found out pretty quickly.

I had bought it and I was going to use it even if my neighbors were on the crazy side. So now that I had a place I needed the stuff to put in it to make it my lab.

So I went to Vish and bought some new furniture to use in the new place a few desks and bookshelves some another crucible along with a stove to heat it. I got some plant pots for the greenhouse in the back, along with a few shelves and boxes for the storage room.

After moving into the new place and getting furniture where I wanted it I decided to go about making this essentia distillation device.
