Chapter: 2

Dark was the first thing that came to mind when I came too in a dark confined space. Didn't I die not too long ago? Then if not where am I? Right now that doesn't matter right now. I tried pushing on the walls of the confined space hearing it crack a little I started applying more force until the walls of the confined space gave way breaking apart like glass. Finally seeing some light I stepped out from the thing that was confining me looking back at what was holding me I realized that it was an egg a massive one in fact I'm pretty sure a ten-year-old could fit in it…. Don't tell me. I looked around and noticed a decent-sized pond of water rushing over to look at my reflection.

Staring into the pond I saw the reflection of a ten-year-old child staring back at me with very familiar features. With my signature silver hair, nebula color eyes, my face, and something like a white cloth wrapped around his body as the only thing for clothing, he looked like a much younger version of me… it is me, isn't it?

"How did this happen?" I muttered aloud.

I sighed deciding that standing around wasn't gonna help me I looked around the area I was in and realized I was in a massive cave with large glowing ores that seemed crystal-like in nature and plants that looked like herbs all around the place and there was a massive amount of energy here.

A familiar monotone female voice said in my head.

"huh that's weird but that's not important right now. The real question now is where am I and how to get out of here?"

I started to walk around wandering around the massive cave my thoughts wondering about my predicament. Wondering about things like where exactly am I? How exactly am I alive? And what exactly am I? Because I'm certain I am not a god anymore I can't feel any divine energy from myself or a connection to any of my domains pair that with the fact that I came out of an egg, I'm pretty sure I'm not human either. There is one thing that comes to mind then, reincarnation. Reincarnation isn't really much of a weird topic since it happened a couple of times before in my dimension that is. I was sensing the energy and it felt nothing like the one in my dimension so it's a safe bet to assume that I'm not in my dimension anymore.

I was pulled from my thoughts by the sound of shuffling grass. Looking toward where the sound was coming from I saw something moving around walking over it I saw that it was a bright blue slime. The slime was moving around seemingly blindly as it moved over the herb-like plant it passed over it had seemingly eaten it no eating wasn't the right word to use more like absorbing was the right term to use. Curious about the slime, I found its clumsy and blind movements kinda cute. I cautiously approached and gently picked it up, marveling at its translucent, gelatinous body it shifted seemingly aware of my presence now.

'Huh, I wonder why this is the creature I've found while I've been here.'

P.O.V. switch

It's been ninety days since I reincarnated into a slime how do I know this my skill [Great Sage] of course I have been hopping around wherever this was eating Hipokte Grass and Magisteel ore reason I. HAVE. NOTHING. TO. DO!!! Oh but where are my manners my name is Mikami Satoru AND I'm a slime is what I would say if anyone was around or could hear me for that matter. Anyway as I was doing my routine of absorbing Magisteel ore and Hipokte Grass I landed on a pretty decent-sized patch of Hipokte Grass and as per usual I started absorbing the grass until I wasn't on the floor anymore. Uhh [Great Sage] what's happening? One of the main downsides to being a slime is that I can't see so I can't tell what was happening.

Picked up something else here outside of me. Wait humanoid so you saying the person who picked me up might not be human.

Well, I'm not going to stick around and find out. I started to squirm out of whatever it was grasp its grip loosened seemingly surprised by my sudden movement however I didn't give it a chance to fix its grip on me as I jumped out of its arms and bounced away and continued doing so until My body had suddenly become light – or was it heavy?... a bizarre situation.

Had I... fallen in water? During these 90 days, I have never had the experience of falling in water. That is, I was either in a cavern or inside some structure and have thus become negligent.

I seem to have fallen into some river. Since there could hardly be a river inside some building, could I possibly be in an underground lake or something like that?

Until recently, since I saw nothing at all, I had been carefully taking every step.

But while I was busy eating grass and listening to the skill's explanations I seemed to have...

Forgotten to check my footing.

I'm always like that!

Always getting high off good luck.

Even at my company.

「Leave it to me! It's a piece of cake!」

Due to those words, I've seen hell many times.

I could still see the resentment in the eyes of my Senpai.

And seriously, what kind of idiot runs around in total darkness?

If I live, that's what I'll do. Or so I say, but I'll probably regret it without reflecting...

Actually, I've got no feet to flap in the water with, so it's not like I can even panic in this situation.

Huh... I wasn't paying attention, but I guess I really wasn't breathing.

I see. After 90 days, I have again become a bit smarter.

That being so, I seem to have really fallen into the water.

Not a situation where I will die, but still an unpleasant one.

I don't even know whether I am floating or sinking.

Since I don't have hands or feet, I don't think I can swim.

If I sink to the bottom, could I crawl my way to the surface?

And if I am floating, would I flow around like this?

Rather than flowing, it feels like I'm being cradled. Like slowly rocked in an embrace–a rather pleasant feeling, but...

I guess I am not flowing anywhere. Rather than a river, this is probably a lake. Doesn't feel like I am getting carried somewhere, after all.

Floating, sinking, with no indication of ever reaching the bottom.

This could last forever, for all I know.

This is a rather bad situation.

What to do...

And then,

My brain cells = slime body had devised a terrifying plan!

What would happen if I predate a lot of water and then expel it like a water jet?

Having thought of that, I immediately tested it. Nothing else to do, after all!

But that this decision would lead to a fateful encounter, that I could not have known...

I am glad I had this idea. To say the least, had I gone in a different direction, this meeting would never have happened.

But, as if led by fate, I went in this direction.

And so, predating enough water to fill about 10% of my stomach (※The person in question is unaware, but water levels drastically decreased).

And in one breath, I released it.

I completely lost my sense of place.

I suddenly heard a voice in my head.

That's the first time I consciously heard it. That is the "Voice of the World".

Since [Great Sage] never starts a conversation I can't be mistaken, but otherwise, it's the same.

But, I don't even have an ounce of time to verify that hypothesis!

With a *Zugun!* a feeling of acceleration envelopes my body... is this what it feels like to fly through the air? (At this point, in the direction I thought I wanted to move in)... I was shot out there.

P.O.V. Nova

"Well, that was interesting." 

I couldn't really say anything else. The slime I found suddenly squirmed out of my grasp and my grip loosened because its body rubbed against my arms and felt ticklish so loosened my grip out of reflex and took off after that when it fell into the river and saw it sank thinking whether slimes breath or not my worries were for naught as a large portion of the river was absorbed then was spat from its mouth giving it some kind of water propulsion. Sending it flying seeing this a smile crept up on my face.

"I'm not gonna let you get away that easily."

While I was walking around this place I was testing out the new energy in my body lets put my practice to work, shall we? I let the energy flow around my body in higher quantities strengthening my body and then the rest to my legs and eyes for higher speed and advance perseption. Then stepped off from my spot in a full sprint shattering the ground behind me. Running over the river wasn't a problem for me because of my speed. As I was running a familiar voice appeared in my head.

Huh, so the abilities here are called skills and you can get them by doing certain things ok that makes sense. It didn't take me long to get back on land and catch up with slime or more like it hit something sending a few feet in front of me staring at the slime a bit in amusement. Looking up to see what the slime hit and it didn't take long to find it was a multicolored transparent barrier if that wasn't surprising enough then the massive dragon behind it definitely was.

(Can you hear me? Little ones)
