Chapter 24 : Results

"His vitals are stable," said a Misha as he stared at the old man lying down on a table through the window in front of him.

Hearing that, the other young doctor, Sasha, who was also staring at a different set of vitals couldn't help but slightly nod.

"Everything's also stable on my side," said the Sasha, when suddenly a faint frown appeared on his face.

"His heart rate suddenly jumped for no reason, It's still within normal range, but keep that in mind," continued Sasha with a weird frown on his face.

Usually, as an experienced doctor, Sasha would not worry about something like this in the slightest, as this was something rather normal.

The problem was the identity of the old man on that table.

That old man was Mikhail Alexandrovich Volkov, their mentor, an extremely experienced doctor and scientist, as well as one of Lady Diana's closest subordinates.

Sasha did not feel worried about Mikhail himself, rather, he was much more scared of what lady Diana would do if something happened to such an important subordinate of hers while under their supervision.

Because of this, even though Mikhail was not actually unconscious, and was just silently staring at the ceiling, Sasha couldn't help but feel worried.

Suddenly, Mikhail's heart rate rose once again, causing Sasha to frown even more deeply, before suddenly breathing a sigh of relief as he heard a few pairs of loud footsteps coming from the distance.

Only around thirty seconds after that, the door to the room the three men were in was suddenly opened, causing Mikhail, who was holding an oxygen mask in his hands, to suddenly try to rise from the table.

"You don't have to be formal, you can sit back down Mikhail," said Diana as she waved her hand at the four soldiers standing behind her, telling them to no enter the room.

Seeing this, one of the soldiers then silently closed the door behind Diana

"Lady Diana, I must at least rise a little bit," said Mikhail as he stood halfway up, with his back straight but his legs still resting on the bed.

Seeing this, Diana couldn't help but shake her head as she saw the pain that Mihail was feeling as he did this, which he tried to hide from her.

"Very well, let's get straight to the point, are you ready for this?" asked Diana as she looked at Mikhail.

"Yes lady Diana," said Mikhail before suddenly putting on the Oxygen mask and laying back down onto the operating table.

Seeing this, Sasha, who was behind a glass window, quickly started up the Oxygen pump and began pouring Oxygen through the mask.

"This is quite a bit excessive, but If you want it to be like this, then so be it," mumbled Diana as she suddenly took out a golden arrow from one of her pockets and stabbed it straight into the arm of the old man.

Even though Diana knew that things like this didn't really matter in the process of becoming a stand user, she still allowed the old doctor to follow his whims, as they did not inconvenience her much.

The moment Diana stabbed the golden arrow into Mikhail, nothing much seemed to change on the outside, as for some reason, not much blood seemed to flow out of the wound, but this was not the case inside his body.

...

As he stared at the heart rate monitor in front of him, Misha's mouth gaped open with shock.

Usually, the resting heart rate for those around the age of Dr. Mikhail is around 70 to 100, but right now, without doing any physical excessive, the heart rate of Dr. Mikhail rose to above 230 beats per minute, an extremely dangerous level.

But even so, as he looked at the other vitals of the old doctor, Misha soon calmed down, as he noticed the fact that they were still in a normal range, causing him to breathe a sigh of relief.

Usually, such a high heart rate would instantly lead to other side effects, which would be visible, but the fact that those things didn't happen meant that this heart rate was an intention side effect to what was happening to Dr. Mikhail.

Slowly but surely, time began passing without anything happening, when suddenly, a bone manifested behind Mikhail.

Only a moment later, dozens, and then hundreds of other bones manifested behind the doctor, forming a complete skeleton.

And then, after around ten seconds of silence, two small flames appeared in the eyeholes of the skeleton, causing Dr. Mikhail to suddenly rip the Oxygen mask off his face and take in a deep breath.

"Stands can even look like this, you learn something new every day," mumbled Diana as she looked at the skeleton behind the old doctor, whilst the other was recovering.

But just as Diana wanted to ask the old doctor about his stand ability, something caught Diana's eyes.

In an instant, the old doctor suddenly moved his leg, which had become rather fragile due to his advanced age, and smashed it against a nearby concrete pillar, causing a crunching sound to instantly travel through the room.

Under the somewhat confused eyes of Diana, the broken bone of the doctor quickly healed up and looked brand new once again.

"Is that everything you can do?" asked Diana as she looked at the old man with a faint frown on her face, causing the latter to only let out a chuckle and shake his head.

"This isn't the right place nor time for me to show my other ability," said Dr. Mikhail, causing Diana to faintly smile.

...

After seeing the other ability of the old doctor, Diana entered a somewhat happy mood, but as she stared at the man in front of her, who was shaking with fear, Diana's good mood evaporated.

"Why are you so afraid, did you not accomplish the mission?" asked Diana as she looked at man, causing the latter to shake his head.

"No lady Diana, the task at hand has been accomplished, but sadly, we weren't able to remain in the constraints of the budget you had given us," said the man, causing Diana to breathe a sigh of relief.

"That will be dealt with, you can go now, the next part of the Project will soon be sent to you," said Diana, causing the man to instantly bolt out of the room.

Not long after that, Diana then turned towards a corner of the room.

"Anastasia, conduct an audit on his mission, if everything is in order, go and ask for some more funds from the Accounting Department."

"If not, and someone dislocated funds... You can 'take care' of them," said Diana as she looked at Anastasia, after all, she had given a rather generous budget for this critical mission.
