Midnight Maneuver

The sun had gone down and Katherine paced continuously around the room. She had no idea what Alexander planned to do and it only made her worry even more.
Katherine caught herself wishing that she had told Lucian how she felt that morning. Now didn't seem like the appropriate time to be thinking about this but that was her regret.
The council had taken the entire castle since mid-afternoon, with their guards alongside the castle guards standing their usual post. This was how it would be until Lucian's trial.
A knock on the door drew Katherine from her thoughts as she rushed to open it, it was Alexander. Katherine quickly opened the rest of her door for him, but she quickly stepped back upon seeing the council member that followed Alexander in.
