Tales of the fractured imagination

A mix of individual short stories that fit into the categories of horror and cosmic horror. All taking place in the same verse across alternate timelines, dimensions and locations. I'd love to hear peoples thoughts about my stories.

The culling

A day like any other. A clear sky, a gentle breeze, and the buzz of people going to work, talking, and living out their lives. Humans. They are interesting creatures, as they are, on the one hand, selfish, greedy, and cruel, whilst also being kind, compassionate, and creative. On this lonely planet of theirs, they are the rulers, creators, and destroyers. The top of the food chain, but what happens when something decides they are not the top of the food chain?

On that faithful day. Rain. A storm of metal that chipped, chopped, and brutalised flesh with blood spewing and red splattering. Eyes skewered, deep cuts and dripping blood erupted as screams erupted, causing people to run; however, many had already met their fate and it was far too late. Some hid under bus stops, some hid in stores, and some ran with all their might.

Unfortunately, the blades that rained crashed through the bus stops and punctured the store ceilings, and all those that ran were now wearing torn pinahatas. What? Why? So many questions, yet not an answer, could be heard.

People attempted to hop into the cars, trucks, etc. and escape; however, the sharp piaces of metal flung themselves towards the vehicles and ripped them apart, as blood slowly trickled out of the vehicles and some exploded just to add to the terror.

Soon helicopters were deployed, but they met the same fate as everybody else: the blades flew through the air, puncturing the airborne helicopters, causing them to spin out of control and smash through the walls of the structures nearby. The rotor blades are now damaged and out of control, either slicing up the owners of the vehicle or going on a rampage outside.

The structural supports for the buildings nearby were eradicated by an army of blades that smashed through, causing the buildings to topple over onto each other and onto the surrounding areas, crushing anyone below, which created bloody puddles as people fell to their knees, unable to think straight or logically define what the hell was currently happening.

This was just the start, as across the globe this madness was occurring. Humans were facing an enemy entirely unknown to them. One that could match their might with mere blades that induced absolute despair.
