"Jake, please relax. I'm sure she's fine." I tried to calm Jacob down as he paced around the small room in agitation.
It had been more than two hours since one of Dominic's men had barged in and taken Rachel with him saying that Dominic wanted to see her. She'd gone out without a word even before me and Jacob had time to react, there was still no sign of her. Rachel was my friend too and I was worried sick for her but I knew panicking wouldn't get us anywhere.
"We need to keep our wits intact right now. You of all people should know that." I tried again, my voice was soothing.
Jacob gave me a stiff nod before coming to sit beside me on the shabby bed. He was trying really hard to appear calm and composed but his usually perfect posture was slumped and his eyes kept darting towards the locked door.
I put an arm around him and give his shoulder a reassuring squeeze, "It's going to be okay. We're all going to get out of here." I said, keeping my voice steady.
