Imagine being reincarnated in a magical world with martial artists capable of severing mountains, and dividing seas. A world where gods exist, and are deemed supreme and like to cause chaos. If one has a system bent on tempting then to become the biggest devil, to enjoy most of its benefits. The story follows Wang Lu's reincarnation and his journey in a new world as he struggles to retain what he deems as good about himself while taking benefits from the system. Wang Lu: "Villains die old, good people die faster! I'm such a good person, is this seeking death?" System: "??? ... You? A good person? Then everyone in this place is a saint!" "His Majesty has issued an order! The selection of candidates to enter the Imperial Phoenix Pavillion is going to change. Each clan is given ten spots, you should know what this means right?" The Wang clan Patriarch spoke in a serious tone.
The person the Patriarch was talking about was the current strongest person in the world. Any good disciples that were selected would eventually receive his direct guidance, and thus a very respectable figure. it is a shame, even if others receive his guidance, how could they reach his level?
But even so, having his guidance was already enough to produce individuals on the level of the Wang clan Ancestors. Such individuals were not weak at all, but even so, one should be able to tell that he is also among the oldest people alive. It is said that he has been around for about 16,000 years.
Even though this can't be proved, it is already a long time. Lifespan alone can't determine how long someone lives. Even those with longer lifespans might be killed by stronger enemies.
But to be able to live this long meant that he knew a lot of things and had also seen through a lot.
Other than fear, there was also respect, as the time he had lived already was longer than the lifespan of the strongest ancestor in the Wang clan. Of course, there were exceptions, but this was not something that could be considered lifespan, such as those that are in a sealed state.
Each of the greatest clans is rumored to have some ancestors close to the Immortal Level, and they have little lifespan left, but they sealed themselves to act as the last line of defense in case their clan is to face a clan extinction event.
Everyone shut up upon hearing this. Wang Yuelo didn't seem that shocked by their reactions, after all the man was considered the reason the world had not completely been outrun by the outsiders for the past thousands of years. Other than cultivation, he also came up with sealing methods that have played a big role in locking the portals connecting the Abbysal world to other dimensions.
and some even could help but ask, "Is this why that guest is in our Wang clan Territory? Don't tell me the situation in the Wilderness portal is becoming more and more unbearable?" Another elder asked with worry.
The information at this level couldn't be obtained in the library of the Wang clan and required one to pass the trials on the Phonix pavilion to be able to prove their eligibility. Only then does one learn of this and this is the same for even the sects all over the Abbysal World. No one dares to reveal this, and the reason for this is simple, they have made oaths.
This oath is considered not a joke as everyone who has taken it seems to keep their word.
The elders obviously would worry as long as anything that happens has something to do with that existence and has an impact on the whole world.
Each of them had their thoughts and most even speculated that perhaps something bad had happened. But the Patriarch didn't stop their guesses, as he had seen the solemn look on the ancestors' faces when they told him to follow the instructions of that existence. They knew something but didn't seem that willing to talk about it even to the patriarch. He probably was not even qualified to know.
"Notify those at the peak of body forging to be prepared, and select their weapon skills soon. We also are going to send them to four cities in the Northeast of the Wang clan!" The Wang Clan Patriarch spoke finally.
"Family head! You can't! That place is not a good place! Sending them to that place is no different from seeking their death." The voices of different elders seemed to echo in the room, and each had almost the same look of anxiety on their faces.
"It is no longer a matter of discussions! The ancestors seemed to also know something but they didn't give me any explanation, they just informed me to implement a fair chance for selection of talents. Ten will be sent to the Phoenix Pavillion while the rest will be trained heavily by the clan. You shouldn't worry too much, each City has Elders on your level in charge. If it comes to saving the life of little kids, I doubt it would be any problem." The Wang clan Patriarch looked at men and women about his age and spoke with a solemn expression.
Deep down he was thinking, "If you knew that the ancestors said the younger generation of the clan should learn of the cruelty of the world if they want to go further. You probably would not be able to sit still. But I made some adjustments to their plan, after all my lovely granddaughter is also going to participate in this trial. How could I have the heart to throw her into danger? It is just that, even with all the lifesaving means you can provide them, the world outside of the Wang Clan is not some paradise."
The Wang Clan patriarch Wang Yuelo seemed to appear like a middle-aged man, but he was from his grandmother's generation. His talent was not bad, considering that he had managed to take a step further than his grandmother.
He looked at the group and then said, " The merit system is going to be used. Those with the highest points gain a chance to the top ten spots."
He didn't say more, but they clearly understood what this meant.

In Wang Lu's residence, he didn't know when, but a permanent resident had appeared. What was worse was that she gave orders around like some empress, it had only been the second day, and yet the exterior of his courtyard had been completely changed.
Even more than that, she brought back some flowers he had to take care of, and thus his workload had been increased. He tried to complain but was easily suppressed and told to behave because he was weak.
He couldn't complain, after all, she was stronger. He was forced to also cut down some wood and create another room for himself.
When he woke up today, he was just about to put his hands in the water flowing from the bamboo tubes to wash his face, when he felt a hostile gaze.
Turning his head, he discovered the figure sitting on a recliner he had just made with bamboo comfortably, even though the sun had yet to come out.
"Is she basking in the cold or something? No wonder she is so cold!" He thought as he looked at her.
But she seemed to read his mind as she asked coldly, "What were you thinking just now?"
