Callie blinked as a large screen suddenly appeared in front of her eyes. The menu stretched across her entire vision, with several tabs on the top, and a list of stats on the opening tab.

Callie stared at the final section, her face scrunching up cutely on her newborn face. The adults around her cooed at the expression, startling her. She looked towards them, and the screen before her eyes vanished as she stared at the new face above her own.

It was a truly beautiful young woman's face, staring down at Callie with utter joy and excitement. She was cooing words Callie didn't understand, but somehow she just knew, without any doubt in her heart, that this was her new mother.

Pain stabbed through Callie's heart. Her new mother. Which meant her old mother...she could never see again.

Somehow, with all the thoughts of whether the whole thing in the Temple was a dream or not, Callie had never realized until this moment: she would never see any of her family members again. Her sister, brother, mother, father, all of them were now lost to her forever.

And now she'd have strangers in their stead.

But as Callie stared up into the eyes of this strange woman, she felt a connection. A strange, deep connection that defied her feelings and fears, and made her feel closer to this woman then she'd ever felt to anyone that she could remember.

'Is this because I'm just a baby?' Callie wondered. 'How am I supposed to deal with being an adult stuck in the body of a baby, anyway?'

Callie didn't know why she remembered her former life, either. Wouldn't you normally reincarnate without remembering your last life? Callie lectured herself in her head for not listening to the Goddess of Sacrifice while she had the chance to find out what was going to happen to her. She probably had explained everything Callie needed to know in this moment, and Callie had been too overwhelmed with her reality to listen.

'Oh, well, no use crying over spilt milk.' Callie thought. She returned her attention to the cooing lady above her, this time with a tad bit of impatience. 'Come on, you just gave birth, aren't you tired yet? I'd like some alone time to check my status screen please.'

As she thought the last statement, the screen from earlier popped back in front of her eyes, obscuring her vision. Callie scrunched her nose in annoyance. 'I can't even think about this thing without it popping up?'

The screen flickered back out before her eyes, leaving Callie's vision clear once more as the mechanical voice spoke. Callie's lips quirked.

'Si*i, is that you?' Callie asked.

Callie laughed inside her head, barely keeping the giggle to herself. What a sight it would be to see a newborn baby laugh! She'd probably get exorcised or something.

If they even had that in this world.

Callie quickly sobered as the idea that she was stuck in a totally different world really sunk in. She knew next to nothing about this place, besides what little information she remembered the goddess saying. And none of that had sounded good at all!

She'd need to be really careful until she knew more. Who knew what kind of rules or expectations existed in such a place?

The cooing finally stopped above her, garnering Callie's attention once more. She stared at the flickering, sleepy eyes of her mother. Suddenly, two new hands picked her up from her mother's arms and started taking her away. Callie just saw a quickly moving world before finally being settled back in someone's lap again. This time, it was the lady from earlier, the one who'd delivered her. Callie looked up at this lady suspiciously as she began to adjust her clothing...

Surely she isn't...

Callie then had to eat her first meal as a newborn. Her adult mind, however, would rather not remember the details.

Callie was finally alone, in a little basinet in the room with her sleeping mother. She didn't pay the woman anymore mind, finally opening her status page to read all the interesting things she couldn't look at before.

There was so much to unpack from this screen alone and there were five more tabs to explore. The Store tab, the Missions tab, the Inventory tab, and the Building System tab sounded so interesting, too! The System Options tab reminded her of the place to adjust her screen size on her computer, so she ignored that tab for now.

She really wanted to load her rewards for her Past Life Reward System, but she held off. First, there was something else on this tab she wanted to see.
